CALUM ____________________________________
AGE 6 months.
GENDER Male
PERSONALITY Being a child still and very young, Calum possesses a lot of energy and greatly enjoys frolicking and playing with the other foals in his herd. Having never really known extreme hardship or devastation, Calum has an extremely trusting, forgiving nature and has little fear of outsiders and new places. Although full of energy and generally rather cheerful, Calum is much quieter than most of the other foals in the herd, speaking only when it truly matters. Some of the older mares in the herd have said that he possesses a wisdom beyond his years that comes from his mother, though Calum himself doesn't quite understand what this means. He doesn't consider himself particularly wise or anything of that nature. He simply avoids making too much unnecessary ruckus for fear of his father's disapproval, for which he constantly strives for but in his mind has never received, no matter how hard he tries to be stoic and strong like him.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION Calum inherited nearly all of his mother's physical characteristics, being a dapple grey colour with a dark mane and dark eyes, though he is starting to show signs that he will have a rather muscular build like his father when he gets older. He's been told that looking at him is like looking at a reflection of his mother in a pool of water and sometimes wonders if this is the reason his father hates him so much.
HISTORY Calum was born into the Creekfall herd in the Creekfall area itself in the spring to dam Niamh and sire Delmar, who is the leader of the Creekfall herd. Calum has very little recollection of his mother, since she left the herd when he was still just a weanling. He wonders why she didn't take him with her when she left and feels a sense of abandonment at the fact that she left him with no real reason or explanation. He just woke up one morning and she wasn't there anymore.
Asking his father has yielded no results as to where or why his mother went. All Delmar has told Calum is that she isn't coming back and he shouldn't dwell too much on her or the past. Not wishing to disappoint his father, Calum has never inquired any further about her.
Despite his best efforts to win Delmar's affection, Calum continues to feel rejected and pushed away by his father. He wants nothing more than to make Delmar proud of him but feels like no matter what he does, he'll never be good enough for his father.
