The bay brute galloped in, he pulled to a stop sending dirt and loose grass flying, he arched his neck and pawed the ground and let out a loud neigh, announcing his arrival into the unknown land - hearing no reply the brute snorted and took off to search his newly claimed land for any loners that just might be hanging around.
Finding no one, the brute stood proud awaiting the arrival of his mare Danika, he was quite fond of her and never would he leave her alone.

The Dawn colored mare galloped in shortly after the stallion, watching him as he announced his presence in the mass desert. He stood proud, awaiting her arrival. The sun was hot, here despite the fact that it was spring. This would be an interesting land to live in. Though it would certainly make it easy for her to blend in. She galloped towards him, slowing as she arrived next to him. Looking at him fondly, she turned her gaze out to the land. Raising her dial, she let out a piercing neigh, echoing his claim to the lands; though as lead mare, perhaps, instead of lead stallion. She would inquire further later. She turned to him curiously. "Well, what now?"
The dry wind rustled her tail, and the sand blew up into her eyes a little. Her lengthy eyelashes kept her eyes safe as they closed against the sand. Here and there, a cactus stood tall, projecting a shadow as it's only friend.

Kryptonite was more than pleased with his new found home and his mare. He had always wanted to know what it was like to have someone by your side and a place to call his own, finally he has the chance to do both. The bay brute turned his cranium to watch Danika, as she arrived next to him he rubbed against her.
Feeling highly pleased with himself, he wanted to explore his land more, and get then feel of where everything was "Want to go exploring?" he asked her curiously, but if she wasn't up to it, then he would stay with her.

He rubbed against her as she halted at his side. He was big, muscular, and proud. There couldn't possibly be a better match for her. This would be a good place to live. "Want to go exploring?" He queried. Her response was immediate,"Sure thing!"
This time she did not hesitate and wait for him, she took off with a squeal of excitement, and a burst of speed. Her hind legs raised towards the sun, in several excited bucks. Dial was tossed around as she ran for a couple of strides before she settled down into a ground eating trot, and took in her surroundings.
A nearby cactus drew her attention, and having never seen one before, she slowed, and walked right up to it. Auds pricked, and nariz flared as she sniffed at it, edging closer. Top lip stretched out, cautiously, questioning after it's texture. With a prick it stabbed her lip, and with a squeal of anger, she whirled around, and kicked out at the thing with her hard hind feet, sending the cactus arm several feet across the desert. Auds flattened, lip twitched as the mare was unsure of what the damage was.

Kryptonite couldn't help but smile at her enthusiasm, as he watched Danika gallop off into the distance he didn't know what to do, feeling a bit left behind, he took off after her.
The bay brute skidded to a stop and watched the mare kick the cactus and send the arm flying, he flickered his audits and went over to her. The brute nuzzled into her side "What were you doing?"[/color] he asked curiously as he tilted his cranium to the side [/sub]

As the brute nuzzled her side, and asked her what she had been doing, she remembered that she wasn't the only one here...and had been behaving as though she was alone. Embarrassed, her ears flopped a bit sideways, drooping a bit. "Ah..um, it bit me...so I kicked it.."
It seemed ridiculous now, like kicking a tree that had thorns...it has thorns! she realized. Oh what a silly thing she was. Her first experience in a desert and she goes and makes a fool of herself. Goodness. She wiggled her lip, it still felt weird from the prick that it had sustained from the thorn."Am I bleeding at all Kryptonite?"
It was the first time she had used his name in casual conversation. A small tingle ran down her spine. It was odd, having just met him, and already being so comfortable with him. A small spark of doubt crept up in her mind...hopefully he would be a good, true herd stallion... Looking at him a bit closer, and a bit more skeptically, she asked,"So, am I the beginning of your herd, or are there others on their way?"

Kryptonitechuckled, he found her amusing, but not in a bad way. The brute moved closer to her "No, not from what I can see" he said clearly as he stuck his tongue out and licked her lip.
Kryptonite knew that being a leader of a herd was going to be hard work, but he also knew he had the traits to keep everyone in line and out of danger. With his tail raised, Kryptonite replied "Your the beginning" he said with his cranium high, as he looked over the land.

Fae was relieved when he told her that she wasn't bleeding at all from the thorn prick. His tongue stuck out and he licked her lip. Auds pricked and orbs widened in surprise.
To her question about his harem, he replied,"You are the beginning."
The brujo turned thoughtful after his reply, and the fae watched him intently for a moment as he stood, gazing out across his land, ebony tail lifting in the dry breeze. He was an elegant beast. As she watched him, some silent urge crept up in her, catching her unaware. Suddenly she saw herself heavy with foal, Kryptonites foal. Surprisingly, the image didn't scare her, the thought of a little foal frolicking at her side.
The mare stepped closer to the stallion, touching his shoulder lightly with her muzzle, and letting out a soft nicker. Eyes bright with anticipation as to what her new life would now be like, with this stallion, in this land. auds pricked, she asked, "Shall we keep exploring?"
After all, they did need to find a sheltered place...with water. someplace that they could shelter during wind storms, or some such disaster... She worried slightly that this land would provide nothing for the two of them, let alone a future herd. However, She also know that the earth worked in mysterious ways, and for now, she would help explore this new land. Someday, ideally, she would be the lead mare of his herd...hopefully. She didn't deal well with others being in charge of her.

Kryptonite closed his orbs and breathed in all the scents around him, when he opened his orbs slowly he turned his cranium towards Danika, what was she thinking? what was going on in her mind at this very moment? all kinds of questions filled his mind but he didn't want to ask them one after another, as he has plenty of time to get to know her better and maybe even get all of his questions answered. Kryptonite had a curious mind, he looked at things differently, and always hoped for the best. The bay brute tossed his cranium "Yes, we shall" he said as he pawed the ground slowly.
Kryptonite cantered off, feeling the wind pass his visage made him happy, feeling free - nothing could be better then this, but what scared him most was finding out that this place wasn't such a great place to have a herd, but he snorted at thought. Slowing to a stop, the bay brute turned to wait for Danika, who wasn't far behind.

The fae watched him as he took in the scents of this new land. Was that a hint of worry that crossed his face? She wasn't sure. She was tempted to ask him some of the questions that were swirling about her mind, but as he agreed with her that they should indeed explore further. He Pawed the ground, eager to get going, and he cantered off, only to slow, pause, and wait for her to join him.
Mind still humming with a tinge of worry and lots of questions, she shook herself from head to toe before following him. Questions could wait, for now. There would be time later for those. Without hesitation, she paused next to him, nudging his shoulder lightly to express to him that she would follow closely behind him where he went off to. The sand was dry, and had been awkward to move around in at first, though she had managed to figure out how to make it work fairly quickly for herself.

Krytonite felt a sign of relief, maybe he was just worrying for nothing? as Danika came up and nudged him, he turned to face her and snorted, he began to prance around her with his tail raised slightly "Do you like it here.. so far?" he asked her while he stopped on the other side of her. The bay brute wanted to see if she was as curious as he to know whether they were able to survive out here, with such little knowledge of the land and where everything was, maybe exploring further wasn't such a bad idea? getting to know where everything was, was what he wanted to do and maybe even find something interesting along the way? he knew it was a possibility, maybe even possible shelter, away from the heat and any other dangers that lurked around.

The stallion seemed reassured when she nudged him. She had not entirely realized how anxious he had been. He then circled her, prancing around her. He stopped on the opposite side from which he had been standing. "Do you like it here so far?" He inquired. She hesitated in answering him, dial turned so she could better look at him, studying him for a moment quietly before she answered. "Yes, I do... but I also worry that we won't find any water... and that would make it harder to live out here."
She stood perfectly still, watching him for his reaction. She was unsure as to what his reaction would be and her stillness expressed her unease, her unsureness of how, exactly he would react to her words. Would he be angry with her for doubting him? or would he agree with her? She didn't know. So she waited.

Kryptonite shuffled to the side slightly, giving the mare some room to think, he swallowed hard waiting for her her answer. The bay brute turned his gaze to the ground "I agree with you, that is why I want to explore more and try and find the things to fit our needs before we introduce anyone else into our herd" he said bringing his gaze back up to meet hers. Would she doubt him with every other decision he makes? and end up leaving? he shook his cranium. Kryptonite thought to much, but he tried to keep his mind positive no matter what the subject may be.

He didn't realize it, but he had reassured her that she was as important to him for starting this herd as she wanted to be - perhaps he even already thought of her as his lead mare. The one who would be in charge when he was away trying to find more mares to bring into his herd. "our herd" he had said.
Although she preened inside at the thought, she could sense his hesitation, his worry. She didn't know what it was about, but she felt like she had caused it. Auds pricked, she stretched out her head, touching noses with him. "...I am sorry...I did not mean to upset you."
She felt bad...she hadn't meant to sour things between them. She sighed. She briefly wished she could be back with her home herd, where things were so easy. Too late now.

Kryptonite tossed his cranium "You didn't upset me" he said with a snort "Its just that, I want us to be able to find these things so then we know our herd will able to thrive and continue to thrive even when we are gone" he said slowly. When the brute heard her sigh, he looked at her curiously "What the matter?" he asked, moving closer to her. He didn't want to make anything hard for her, but if he ever put some kind of pressure on her then he would want to know. Kryptonite nuzzled into her mane and took in her scent, oh how good she smelt. The brute didn't want to worry her, but if they couldn't find any water, shelter etc. then maybe they would have to leave.
