[glow=red,2,300]Rhys[/glow] [glow=blue,2,300]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[/glow][glow=white,2,300] Marriage is the tomb of love[/glow][glow=blue,2,300]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[/glow] The world flew by Rhys as he cantered, powerful and fast. He was ready to be back home. To make sure that everything was in order. At the first minute feel of sand beneath his feet he'd taken off. Not really concerned about that mare behind him. The wolves had never ever been seen this close to his land, so even if she did fall behind she'd be fine. Unless she did something stupid like run into the deep water. Even then, it'd take much effort to die. As summer was quickly coming upon them, the water wasn't as angry and powerful, less apt to take unsuspecting horses away. The steed tossed his head, a loud bellowing whinny sounded out over the rolling sandy shore as he headed to wards the water. He wanted his herd to hear him and to come. Even Roisty.
Again he called, his ebony hooves hitting the wet sand and the water rolled over the tips of his cornet band. It wasn't a direct run for the water, it was more like he was running forward, and a little bit side ways, getting the smallest amount over and into deeper water with each stride. When he was about hock deep into the swell he stopped and reared up, calling for his herd one last time and letting the water wash over his dusty body. With careful eyes he turned to look for the mare, this was a risk for him. He didn't hardly trust her at all. No doubt Maria and Mabli would come to his call with ease. Beauty may choose to ignore him, but usually she didn't. Roisty... well who knows the promise of a mare was usually enough to get him to come. The pony was so much more a gentleman than he was... and part of him wanted to say good riddens. That he could have this mare. Delilah was enough of a handful for him. She wasn't technically his, but something told him he'd see her again some day, and snotty mares really put Rhys in a poor mood. Rejections weren't taken well by him, and usually caused him to loose interest in the mare. For now, he would live with this one, indulge her, see if she would choose to join with him and make a foal... if not he'd simply ignore her. His lands were vast. In the day time he could spend hours on the cliff, watching the water and most of the other horses didn't dare climb that treacherous walk up the slippery incline. It was dangerous, and most of his mares stayed clear. He often went there to think, no one bothered him there.
Rhys grunted and shook his head. If Setsuna came he wasn't sure how she'd take another mare, and he didn't know her well... he didn't know Stryker well either... it worried him. Two mares he couldn't assess their reactions could equal disaster if they wanted to fight. He wouldn't tolerate it. Heavens knows that he teaches his foals enough bad behavior himself, he didn't need two angsty mares doing the same. With a heavy sigh Rhys nickered, barely heard over the waves... it would just have to be a waiting game now. LIKE A BOOK ELEGANTLY BOUND... -------------------------------------------------> Stryker followed him lazily, her pace even with his but a good distance behind. He was annoyed with her. She could pretty much feel the annoyance coming off of him in waves. Her rejection of him hit hard, she assumed. She chuckled inwardly, and continued onward until he came to a halt. She did't get in the water, but heard him call his herd forth, and she waited patiently. "Moment of truth, then? Before they arrive, I really do want to apologize to you, Rhys. You seem very bothered.. and.. maybe I'll reconsider my position on your previous question. We can talk about it later, I suppose." She muttered, entirely unsure as to why she had offered that to him.
Maybe she was just ready to settle down? She wasn't quite sure. But you could hardly travel with a foal.. if she decided to do this, it would be a permanent thing. He would have to get over his ego and accept her as she was, because if she had his foal, she wasn't leaving. Shifting her thoughts, she silently wondered what the other herd members would be like. Hopefully they weren't all complete narcissists.. one was enough, in her book. Then again, there was never enough room for more than one narcissist, they couldn't live together very well. Only one of them could be the best, after all.
Stryker watched him for a moment before glancing around the land with a soft smile. She really had always loved the beach. The floodplain was barren and desolate, and somehow she still found it beautiful in all of its loneliness. The flies she could live without.. but everything else was just beautiful. She stuck her muzzle in the air and inhaled deeply, the saltwater assaulting her lungs, making her gasp for air. Her barrel shook with the effort, and she tossed her head, the muscles in her neck rippling. She tossed her mane acrossed her crest and dug her hoof into the soil.. This was home. How quaint.

[glow=pink,2,300]Mabli[/glow] [glow=pink,2,300]The value of identity of course is that so often with it comes purpose. ~Richard Grant[/glow] Like any child, her sire's call demanded her attention. Like a moth to a lamp the filly ran from her mother's shade a protection in the direction of her father's beaconing command. She was new to using her legs, only a few day old, but the little bay was promisingly fast. Her miniscule head tossed over her shoulder to watch the flaxen beauty that was her mother disapear into the haze that the mixture of heat and water made. In the distance, past a small puddle of water, she could see her father... and something else. A tiny flec in the distance about the same size as her sire. Another horse? She'd never seen another horse besides her mother and father. The filly wondered what it would be like. She wasn't even to the age that her mother told her, and warned her, about other horses... older ones. As she got closer she could see this horse was older. Why did her father bring her here? Tiny ears pinned to her head. She'd surely find out!
The gangly filly jumped, attempting to jump the small ocean pool that had been trapt between the tiny islands of the shore... she failed oh so miserably. The filly managed to jump far enough to crash into the middle of the pool. The water was about as deep as her belly, seaweed tangled around her teensy hooves, and the surface water flew and sprayed at the aggitation of her body hitting it. A few more sloppy, loud, jumps freed her from both the water and the tangled sea plants. A few clung to her legs, along with specs of dry sand that clung to her legs for dear life. It would seem the dry sand begged to once again be part of the ocean's wet salty spray if only for a moment, if only as a hindrance on a filly's legs. The girl stretched and shook, some of the debres refusing to come off of her and after a few minutes of kicking she didn't care to try anymore. She swirled around to see her sire, he'd moved from the water, ears forward and stiff. His outline was clear against the horizon. Worry could be read on his face, along with anger. Mabli knew she was to stay out of the water, that it bothered her sire greatly for reasons she didn't understand. When he seemed to notice that she was safe the twinge of worry morphed into a nasty glare. Part of her wanted to turn tail and run back to her mother, but she knew that what ever way she went, at the very least a good scolding awaited her. Her dam's would be less harsh, more like a leason, or helpful advice, but Rhys would no doubt going to scold her without pitty. However avoiding it wouldn't help sate his anger, only encourage it.
Mabli scampered over to her sire and nickered lightly, hoping to soften him up some. It didn't work, but it had been worth a shot. "How many times have I told you to stay out of the water!" He snarled, pinning his coal black ears to his head. Mabli shrunk, her nose touching the ground ever so slightly. "But...dah called." She whispered in her own defense. The steed took a deep breath and opened his mouth to scold her, but obviously could think of no valid point to scold her over if that was the case. "Be more careful... and wait for your mother next time." He said softly, but the annoyance was clear in his voice. "Mabli, this is Stryker." He said, but his position between her and the other mare didn't budge. Mabli watched as he turned to look at the other mare. Was he scared of something? "Why she with dah?" The filly asked bluntly. Her head poked around to study the pretty mare, earning a low grunt of warning from her father. It was obvious the two were not getting near each other. Whether Mabli wanted to or not depended on the mare's intentions of being here but her curiousity for the new things in life kept her waiting for her sire's signal that it was ok to be around the new comer.

She had been grazing, eating and making sure that she was well fed enough that she could easily produce enough milk for her growing foal. Grass eating was something she was good at, if you couldn’t tell by the little extra weight she carried around her middle. The flaxen chestnut’s ears perked up when she heard Rhys’ call. She returned to grazing, wanting to finish feeding herself before she headed off. Mabli had no such patience, seeing as she had portable food that went around everywhere with her, and she was running off. And she was showing to be a fast little girl, her canter fast. Maria finished a few more mouthfuls so she wasn’t quite so hungry and the set off at a trot after her filly. She soon saw the two other figures in the distance, and she broke into a light canter before she reached the other three. She surveyed the new mare for a moment, her eyes by no means angry or upset that Rhys was with another mare. It was the way stallions worked, and as long as she got to spend even a little time with the father of her latest foal she was content. Admittedly, she’d been spending a lot of time with Rhys over her pregnancy. With the foal now here, she was by no means surprised he had moved on to prettier things. ”Hello,” she said happily. ”Don’t think I didn’t see you jumping in the water Mabli.” She said very calmly, looking a mix of amused and serious. It was quite hard to pull it off but somehow Maria did. ”Don’t run off either, I’ve told you before” She added, not minding as much if she could see her but Mabli just running off wasn’t wise. There were predators and water that Mabli could easily down in nearby. She finally reached down, examining her sandy little legs and then looking at her. ”And now you’re filthy.” She told her, rubbing at the sand on her legs a little to get rid of some of the sand on her legs. She had some time while the rest of the herd arrived. The four of them could not be the extent of it. She’d never really cared to ask who else he was with. It didn’t concern her. She herself waited for the newcomer’s sign that Mabli could go investigate her. She wasn’t sure how to explain to her child who she was, seeing as she wasn’t sure where this Stryker mare stood in the herd and what was going on. She didn’t mind, she was happy with her foal. And she was pretty sure come next spring or the spring after she’d be seeing some more of Rhys, soon ending up in foal afterwards. Well, she assumed so anyway.

LIKE A BOOK ELEGANTLY BOUND... -------------------------------------------------> Her head tilted at the sight of the delicate little foal, and she watched as Rhys stood between them to protect the little filly. She grinned to herself, thinking on their previous conversations. He may not THINK he loved his foal, but he certainly did, even if it was in the only way he knew how- by protecting her. Stryker stepped around him, nudging the filly softly with her nose. "Hello, little one. It's lovely to meet you," she spoke with a soft, husky voice, soothing and sweet. She didn't hate foals.. she just wasn't sure that at this point in her life, she wanted one of her own. They were a huge commitment. Hearing the filly's question, she smiled again. "I'm here with your father because I'm a new member of your herd." Her eyes shifed from the adorable little filly to her father, and she smiled at him. "She's absolutely adorable, Rhys." She stepped away from the filly again, surveying the both of them as a pair. Oh yes, adorable.
As Mabli's mother approached, she had to smile, once again. Maria was clearly a lovely mare, soft, and round, and delicate. Stryker could see why Rhys liked her so, and even more why she made such a great mother. "Hello, my name is Stryker.. you must be Maria?" She questioned with a gentle smile, bowing her head courteously. She suspected they would get along just fine. The mare wasn't at all showy and flashy, yet still had her air of gentility, of.. motherlyness. Not a real word, but that's about all she could think of to describe the mare. It made her happy. And the way she looked at her foal was especially adorable. Yes, even if Maria wasn't as nice as her outer appearance claimed, Stryker would leave her alone. There was nothing to want from angering, bothering or fighting a mare so gentle or delicate.
She glanced back at Rhys again, and spoke gently. "Should I be expecting anyone else?" She questioned with a slight tilt of her head, curiosity brimming. She wondered in secret if this "Delilah" he seemed to fear so much would show up. "If you meet Delilah, you don't know me," he had said. And she had been curious ever since then as to why she was such a fearful mare. She didn't speak these curiosities, though, as Rhys was already bothered enough by her and her rejection.. no sense provoking him further.

Setsuna had heard his call, and her ears swiveled toward it, recognizing it immediately. Oh, how she had heard it. Clear and unquestionable...she just wasn't quite sure how to respond to it. I suppose I should go...I am in the herd after all... she mumbled inside herself, shifting from side to side.
Then, a bitter thought crept into her mind- Her, Setsuna, being called and summoned to this stallion at his leisure, like one of those strange and furry companions the humans kept. Dogs, weren't they? Rhys abusing his dominance as herd leader, as a stallion. Maybe even kicking or biting her when she displeased him. And would he eventually lose interest in her? Was it all just a Faust to drop away at another stallions challenge? She pinned her ears back and snorted, irritated. She wouldn't strive to get there to him first, her heart wouldn't burst with longing at his every call, she wouldn't praise and fawn over him like a love-struck yearling, she wouldn't fight for his attention. At least not all the time.
But then again...Rhys isn't a bad stallion, at least...he seemed fair to me. Setsuna practically fought with herself. She pawed the ground and flicked her tail, something she did when pondering deeply. Maybe I'm over thinking this...being too dramatic, she consoled herself, as her ears gradually raised up. He is a stallion after all...I guess I'm still not used to the ways of wild horses, she grumbled resentfully to herself. "Well, let come what will." She said determinedly, and doing a powerful half-rear, she galloped off before she could change her mind.
Hoof beats pounding the sand in time with her thundering heartbeat, Setsuna could feel grains of sand spitting up around her large hooves. She was sure her white coat had a beige tint to it from the sand and sea water. She ran just out of reach of the grasping waves, but she could feel the light breath of sea mist on her side. Her neck was arched and her nostrils flared to let in more oxygen to power the majestic stride. Her snowy mane and tail streamed behind her, whipping like white fire in the wind. She could feel each hoof hit the ground and rise up again. She truly did love running on the beach.
Of course, her euphoria was quickly over. She could now see horses up head, about 3, and a smaller, more active shape. Rhys, and what she assumed were other mares. And...a foal? She guessed, and was actually quite happy about it. Setsuna had technically never met a foal, since all the horses at her old stable were separated- mares to mares, stallions to stallions, and foals to trainers. She slowed down considerably, to a mild canter. She could feel her usual nervousness slithering into the pit of her stomach again. She slowed even more, and quickly dipped her head down, her slightly blond mane veiling her left cheek- and the 'L' for Lipizzaner branded there. As she checked her canter to a trot, she knew she couldn't hide the several other brands, or her fancy movements, but hopefully these mares weren't overly curious...or judgmental.

[glow=red,2,300]Rhys[/glow] [glow=blue,2,300]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[/glow][glow=white,2,300] Marriage is the tomb of love[/glow][glow=blue,2,300]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[/glow] Rhys lifted his head, and sniffed. There came Maria. With a low nicker and a nuzzle he greated her. Even as she scolded the foal he nickered and nipped her. His eyes never once left Stryker. "She is new here." He said softly to her. He didn't want her to take this personally, he didn't want any of them too. This was what he did as a stallion. It's what kept a herd strong. Without adding more mares and foals, this couldn't truely be a wild herd. If he did not, the herd would die out in less than a generation. Inbreeding wasn't tollerated by him, but manogomy wasn't either. He was a stallion! Not a swan. He wouldn't and couldn't spend his life with only one partner. He loved them all, and all the same for that matter. Right now he was just a little cautious. This was an easily fatal situation. For his foal and for Maria. She'd only given birth a while back, and most of her energy went to the foal. So he'd stand guard. Stryker's voice broke him from his thoughts. "Um... yes I suppose she looks lovely... they are in fact my genes inside of her." He paused, "And of course Maria's. Two pure copies of me would be too much to handle." He joked, nickering a bit. Maria wouldn't like his vanity but he was only picking on her a little. It couldn't end up too badly for him. Rhys tossed his head and flared his wide circular nostrils again. Someone else.
He raised his head to see Setsuna, running full force down the beach. For a second, he stopped breathing, nothing pleased him more than to watch a mare run. Anything that involved her exerting her power made him swell with happiness. A loud whinny left him, urging her on to the small band, each mare was a treasure to him. Mabli coppied him and whinnied from behind, before going to suckle. Rhys ingored her for the most part and waiting, pawing at the sand for another member of his herd to join them, together they were strong... and undoubtedly the most attractive horses out there. That part he was serious about. His herd was part of him, and he was gorgeous, there for they were all gorgeous. He turned back to the herd. "This will be the first time you've all met!" He explained like a happy yearling. He kicked and bucked a little, pawing and trotting a small circle around the mares and foal. His head was high, and his long ebony tail drapped behind him like a flying banner. So proud of his accomplishment... a herd! HE had made a herd in less than a season... if that is they could all keep from killing each other or the foals they had. His tail flicked at a fly carelessly, getting Mabli in the process who whinnied at her dad. For once the two seemed to be getting along as he strutted around and nudged and nipped her lightly, while she reared and kicked his belly and shoulders. Rhys was too happy right now to be bothered by anything. Had he ever been this excited over other horses? No... perhaps not. Of course Rhys had never had a real herd. He had simply... exsisted in the same spaces as other horses. This was different. They'd all be one safe, loved, happy family if it killed him. He whinnied to the other mares, trying to get them to join in the fun he was having as he waiting to great Setsuna with the same affectionate and sweet nuzzle he'd given Maria. She’d heard his call. Oh, she had definitely heard him call. She let out a soft sigh- had he finally decided that he’d been wrong and he would come to ask her forgiveness? It seemed a little too hopeful but Delilah stuck to her childish delusions as she waltzed toward the meeting place. She knew he’d brought more mares here, the little bitches taking up the space that she believed to be hers. Soon the red mare appeared in view of them, and she walked over to them. The pretty red mare surveyed the others. Attractive in their own way but nothing compared to her. They could never be something compared to her. ”Oh Rhys, were you going to start without me?” She asked silkily, flicking her red tail against her hocks to get rid of the stupid black flies. Speaking of stupid black things, she looked to the gorgeous stud next to her. She was looking for any sign of her and her recent violent outburst. She was healed and there were no mars on her sienna coat. ”So what’s the meeting about that you were going to have without me?” She said brightly, her ears flickering back slightly as she looked at them all. Especially the little foal nursing from a plump flaxen chestnut pony. -- Maria was visibly relieved when she saw that Stryker was happy to see a foal (some mares weren’t) and she remained as friendly as usual. ”That would be me,” she replied happily. ”How did you know?” She asked, a little curious. Maybe they’d been talking about her- she assumed it was good because there was little about her that seemed to vex others. She was easy going, sometimes a little snappy to Rhys when she felt he was being overly harsh to Mabli but generally she was a loving, respectful kind of mare. A mare who loved affection of any and all sorts. She returned the affection she received from Rhys before looking at the new mare. ”I worked that out for myself,” she teased Rhys lightly, referring to his comment about Stryker. She was waiting for the next mare to be introduced. She gave a little smirk at Rhys’s comment. ”You’re right, two genes would be too much. Just where would all the ego go? She’s so little, she couldn’t fit it all in.” She told him with a little nudge. It was harmless teasing, she still loved him. She knew his flaws, he knew hers. ”I suppose this would be the first time we’ve all met. I’m Maria, and you are?” She asked the slightly nervous looking Setsuna. As if she were waiting for someone to judge her or something. She wasn’t sure. She wouldn’t receive that from Maria. She held a love for everyone she met, though it was admittedly harder to love some more than others. She managed it all the same. With that thought, she looked to the crimson beauty who had just arrived curiously. She wasn’t sure who she was exactly. The way she acted, she could have been the Queen of Sheba for all Maria knew.

She couldn't repress the little spark of joy that fluttered in her heart like a caged bird when she saw Rhys. He really was magnificent, in all his shining black glory. She whinnied back at him, stomping her front hoof into the sand. She was happy to see him....and her new herd.
Setsuna touched her soft velvet nose against Rhys' and nickered, widely swishing her ivory tail, and hoping he would be pleased to see her again. She was happy to see him frolicking, with what she presumed to be his young foal. That's a good sign, she thought, relieved. Some stallions never even care to look at their foals. She herself could remember the day; as she had stood grazing in the pasture with her dam as a young filly, she had seen her sire pass by amid the admiration of the mares nearby. He had been majestic, and a spotless white, all muscles and grace. Setsuna had cantered clumsily up to the rails and stuck her tiny nose out to him. And he didn't even look. Setsuna called out, and even reared and put her front hooves on the fence. He never noticed- too important, too arrogant to glance at one of his many foals.
She stood by Rhys, not quite seeking cover behind him but also not presenting herself as much...as the red mare. Setsuna regarded her coolly yet cautiously. She is very beautiful...and that can make her dangerous. The thought hissed inside her mind like a snake. Why would Rhys start without one of his mares? She questioned. But she showed no indication of her thoughts outwardly, and made eye contact with the mare, Stryker, and nodded her head. That one seems rather quiet... she murmured in her mind.
A faint whinny of laughter escaped her when Rhys and Maria teased each other, and Setsuna relaxed in the fairly casual atmosphere. This herd seems nice, she thought contentedly, stomping a back hoof at the pestering flies.
"Hi Maria. My name is Setsuna, pleased to meet you." She warmly replied to the friendly-looking chestnut mare. She's nice. If Setsuna was human, she'd be grinning. But she wondered if she sounded strange, since she seemed to talk a little more flashy. "Are you the mother of this little filly here?" Setsuna asked, garnet eyes sparkling. She lowered her head to the filly; but not touching the foal.

[glow=blue,2,300].:Roisty:.[/glow] Roisty came over the horizon slowly behind Rhys. Roisty, who shone like glitter when the sun hit it, held his head at a high arch. He tried to show of Rhys immense presence and trying to act Proud to be in Rhys herd, to act like if he belonged in it. His feathers floated above the ground, tail whispered in the wind. Sky blue and clear, the ground showing off Roistys strong body structure. He muttered very quietly to himself "I may be little but I am strong". Him being a 13.2hh welsh sec' C made him have plenty of body structure and muscle behind his gallop, bounding over obstacles or even plenty behind his kick. Roisty put one step forward, but then hesitated. Roisty, didn't greet any of the others he planed to do a few seconds ago, but shyly looked at Rhys thing that he might get mad if I start making friend with his mares. Roisty flickered one of his ears back against his jet black mane and lowed his head "My name is-is Roisty," a smile then opened on his face. His dark bay coat with ginger dapples on his belly shone for almost miles even, but he always thought no one could resist his dark brown eyes, his beautiful face, not too dipped, not to flat, just a perfect mixture between the two, and his black velvet nose was so soft like a baby's bottom.

[glow=red,2,300]Rhys[/glow] [glow=blue,2,300]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[/glow][glow=white,2,300] Marriage is the tomb of love[/glow][glow=blue,2,300]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[/glow] ((I'm going to put Mabli in Rhys's posts for a little while because it's getting a little hectic. Sorry if I broke order there is a lot of people here. That does make for more fun though XD)) Rhys practically fell over himself. Delilah did not make his list of top horses right now. Start without her? "I don't remember being inclined to wait for you to do anything Delilah." He said lowly, his eyes watching her with a firm stare. He didn't know if she was going to go psycho or not. She'd certinally done so before and caused him physical harm. "Stay back from my mares Delilah." He warned, watching as Setsuna joined their merry band of herdmates. Well... not so merry anymore. "The contents of whatever I choose to discuss..." He paused, getting in her space like he knew she hated. "Aren't really your business seeing as you didn't want to be part of this herd." His voice was low and contricted. To be honest Rhys was happy to see her, a strange love for Delilah had been born in him. The first wild mare he'd tried to seduce... and the first to turn him down. Though unlike Stryker, he was unsure that Delilah would ever come around. A low nicker left him and he pawed the ground before turning away from her coyly. If she wanted to play it like that, so could he. "But now that you're here and have come to your senses..." He thought of something that may bother her quite a bit, "I accept your apology, now if you'd kindly raise your tail this can go rather smoothly." He knew Delilah would probably sense his sarcasum, the other mares may not though. He turned back to Setsuna, "Yes that is our child, she's very... energetic." He grumbled, then gave a snort as Mabli jumped away from her mother to greet the new mares. "I am Mabli! Never met you before. We be friends?" She asked, the hope in her tone made Rhys groan to himself. She was asking Setsuna to be her friend now, fantastic. "Mabli don't bother her." He chided lightly, not really paying her much attention, his eye was on Delilah. One because she was almost as attractive as him, two because she could still choose to be dangerous. No matter how much affection he shared for her, no harm would come to his mares. He loved each and everyone of them deeply, and would protect them with his life. He looked at his child, the enthusiasum may not be there, but the love was, and she too would always be protected in his herd. "What's that funny thing on face?" She asked Setsuna. Rhy's pinned his ears and nipped her lightly, "Hush Mabli!" He whispered. "But is pretty dah! What is?" She asked again. Rhys turned his gaze to Maria, eyes begging for help. This was not the time for her to test his temper, Delilah would be firing it up enough.
A small form in the distance caught his attention. Head up, ears perked he watched Roisty approach. He stepped in front of his foal protectivly but nickered as the other stallion arrived. Rhys wanted him to know that he was not unwelcome anywhere on his lands... just don't breed or attack his females. "Hello friend. It's been a while." Rhys said, watching him with indifference before turning around. After a moment he thought better of his attitude and looked over his shoulder and nickered a bit, "Nice to see you again." He turned to the mares, "This is Roisty, the other stallion on this land. I'm not sure what purpose that serves him... but it's his choice and I hope you'll show him respect." His ears flattened and he looked at Delilah with a mocking glance, "Well those of us that understand such higher concepts at least..." LIKE A BOOK ELEGANTLY BOUND... -------------------------------------------------> She ignored Maria now, her eyes turning to stare at this "Delilah" with laughter in her eyes. Once again, she didn't find herself afraid. For entirely different reasons than her ease with Rhys, but in this instance because she knew she could hold her own against the mare. She rolled her eyes at the display the mare made in an obvious attempt to garner attention from Rhys. And, somehow, it had worked. She hated her already - just as Rhys had annoyed her with his flashiness, Delilah was a hundred times worse. Stryker preferred natural beauty, horses who had no reason to flaunt what they had. They were typically much more interesting to be around. Amber eyes surveyed the crowd and, once again, she found it humorous.. they were all misfits in their own rights.
"Hello," She offered the small stallion named Roisty with a curt nod, and did the same for Setsuna. "My name is Stryker. It's nice to meet you, I suppose." She shook her mane out, eyes wary. She suddenly found herself wanting to run, no longer wanting to be in this plainly awkward situation. These horses were not the kind she had expected, though Rhys had been nothing but frank about the way the herd operated when they had met - he had said that they weren't very close. But this, this was just painful to see. Delilah clearly thought she ran the show- and she found herself wondering how Rhys could abide such behavior from a mare that wasn't even in his herd.
"I must admit I find this situation to be quite awkward. It's not every day you're faced with a band of merry misfits," she joked, and nudged Mabli with her nose. She chose to ignore the rest of the horses and spoke gently to the filly. "Care to go for a run, little one? Assuming your parents are okay with it, of course." Her thought was to get the filly away from the fray, get her distracted, and go for a run herself- surely Rhys had choice words to say to Delilah and the others, and she had no inclination to hear it.. so she would entertain herself and the young one at the same time. Though she knew Rhys didn't trust her fully, perhaps he'd show a sign of faith and let her play with Mabli while they discussed other subjects.
BUT IN A LANGUAGE THAT YOU CAN'T READ. <-------------------------------------------------

Setsuna bobbed her head; white mane flowing, & stomped one of her front hooves into the sand as a greeting to Roisty. "Nice to meet you Roisty, I'm Setsuna." Two stallions in one herd? Two? Oh, this will be interesting, Setsuna thought, with a hint of wryness. But somehow this little pony seemed calm and polite enough to Rhys, and Rhys' acknowledgment of him (if somewhat un-interested) seemed cordial enough for Setsuna not to be worried. Yet, she thought, even though Rhys is so big, I'm sure that little pony could take a bite out and get in a good kick or two.
She flattened her ears back for just a second, then didn't want to seem argumentative, so she decided just to keep her irritation to herself. But Delilah's seductive coyness and regal beauty seemed to set all the mares on edge. Setsuna shifted her weight, wondering just what was going on between the prideful red mare and the probably just as prideful black stallion. She could be trouble... Setsuna pondered logically. Or maybe she's just misunderstood...Either way, I'm steering clear of that mare.
She blew air at Rhys fondly. "Oh, I do wonder from who she gets all her energy from?" She joked. "Of course I'll be your friend, I'm in you herd after all." Setsuna replied warmly to the young foal. She found this filly's immediate trust and innocence terribly endearing.
'What's that funny thing on face?'
That question however, made Setsuna's heart sink. Apparently my forelock doesn't cover the mark as well as I thought. She grimaced inwardly, ears wilting and head lowering just a tad to show her unease. Her ears immediately flicked back up when Mabli said the brand was pretty. "Well..." Setsuna began carefully, swishing her tail at flies. "Do you know what a human is? They did this to me- poked me with something really hot and made this mark. I don't know what it means, but they had different ones on all the horses where I'm from."
She glanced at Maria, then Rhys for approval of what she had said. I pray that no human ever sets foot here...I never want to see any of these horses, whether I like them or not, in bridles or stalls. Her eyes had a faraway, but content look now, because somehow she knew that this place -her home- was safe from people.
But being safe from other horses, was an entirely different matter. She was too new here to know all the personalities and ambitions of the equines here, and her innocence in these matters put her at a bit of an disadvantage. Setsuna surfaced back from her memories to the current situation at hand.
"I agree with you entirely, Stryker. We are all really a merry band of misfits." She tossed her head up in laughter.
