.:: | SPRING | ::. .:: | EARLY MORNING | ::. .:: | OPEN THREAD | ::. Niamh gave a light snort as her hooves splashed in the waters of the beach, sprinkling her dapple-grey coat with a cool refreshing spray of water. For spring, the weather was unusually warm and sticky and the young mare didn't like the way the heat made her sweat and turned her coat into a damp, itchy mess. In fact, the heat made the normally quiet, soft-spoken mare uncharacteristically irritable and short-tempered. Soon, the flies would accompany the heat and Niamh would spend months swishing her tail back and forth and shaking her head to keep the blasted pests away from her.
I can hardly wait, she thought dryly to herself. She was all too eager for winter to return already. It may be cold, but she didn't sweat and there were no insufferably annoying insects constantly nipping at her hide. She did worry about Calum, though. He was still so young, but she had left him in capable hands. The Horses of Creekfall were a close-knit, well-protected herd. Her young son would be safe with them and his father. Despite any ill-feelings left between them, Niamh trusted Delmar to watch over Calum.
Now chest-deep in cool water, thoughts of the two she had left behind floated away as she simply lived in the moment, enjoying the refreshment after days of itching in her own sweat. With a long sigh of relief, Niamh stamped in the murky sand, causing the water to splash up over the top part of her as she shook her entire head and neck, sending water droplets flying every which way out of her dark mane. This was wonderful.
Paying no heed to anyone around her, Niamh allowed herself to frolick freely in the cool water, thoroughly enjoying her refreshing morning bath.[/blockquote]

The mare’s steps were silent and calm, much like the rest of her. The gait lacked purpose as she wandered around, it was a relaxed and ambling thing as she continued on. Her head hung in front of her, feeling no need to hold it up. This was not to say exactly that she was not on her guard for only a fool would go gallivanting around without paying heed to who was around. She’d made mistakes in the past that may have been a little foolish, but it would be even more foolish to have not learned from them and continue on as if nothing had happened. She learnt from her mistakes. She’d awoken with a jolt of energy that she hadn’t quite been willing to expel through running and bucking, it hadn’t felt the right way to expel it that morning. Instead she harboured it until she found the sea. She only got the bottom of her feet wet as she cantered and occasionally galloped along its beaches. She didn’t mind the wet sand reaching up to stick to her legs because she was having far too much fun right now. She’d clean herself later. Or not. She had to pull herself up sharply as she realised she was headed straight for another mare. ”I see I am not the only one enjoying the cool waters this morning,” she said in calm but friendly tones. She lifted her forefeet one at a time a little out of the water, investigating the stickiness of the sand. Besides, it made a nice little squelchy sound.

Kryptonite was too excited for words, he was galloping as fast as he could, as he struck his muzzle in the air he took a deep breath and smelt the salty ocean water oh how refreshing it was.
The bay brute reached the water's edge, stepping in slowly he shivered slightly as the cold water touched his legs. Kryptonite looked around and saw two others, he smiled slightly as he walked over in there direction, but stopped ever so suddenly when he noticed the grey mare "Niamh" he spoke softly. He watched her from a distance before galloping out to her with a grin.
When the brute finally reached her he gave her a sly smile "Well hello there stranger" he said as he circled her still smiling proudly

.:: | SPRING | ::. .:: | EARLY MORNING | ::. .:: | OPEN THREAD | ::. Niamh's frolicking quickly came to a halt when the splashing of another set of hooves met her long ears; hooves that were quickly splashing their way straight towards her. Barely managing to back up in time to avoid a collision with another mare, requiring Niamh to rear up slightly in the process, she came face to face with a rather lovely-looking young bay-coloured mare. Another mare travelling alone? That was unusual, yet Niamh had been noticing more and more mares like her as of late. She wasn't sure if she should be worried or pleased with this strange phenomenon, actually.
The mare spoke and Niamh eyed her with a cautious, but calm gaze, lowering her head slightly. “That would be a rather stark observation, yes,” she responded cooly with a slight hint of dryness to her tone. She watched the mare slowly lift her hooves out of the water and lower them into the sand again with a squelchy sound and Niamh had to force herself not to laugh at the sheer ludicrousness of it. Here was a full-grown mare playing in the wet sand like a filly. It was behaviour she'd expect from her son. Calum... The name reverberated in her mind and Niamh's chest suddenly tightened uncomfortably. Once again, she made to remind herself that she did what was best and that Calum was in good hands, but was interrupted by the sound of more hooves, these ones galloping full-force into the water.
This time, Niamh recognised the large bay stallion that approached and she found herself consciously making an effort not to scoff and roll her eyes, keeping her cool, calculating gaze. Not again, she thought. This was why Niamh didn't have a herd. It was rare that she met another horse she actually got along with. “Kryptonite,” she responded neutrally with another small lowering of her head. “I see you have not been killed since our last meeting. I must admit, I am both surprised and impressed.” But more surprised, she added to herself.[/blockquote]

Kryptonite snorted as he splashed around in the water. The quiet, calm flow made him relax "Well.. I do know how to survive.." he snorted as he drooped his muzzle to the top of the water and left it there as he closed his orbs. Kryptonite was happy that he found Niamh again, he didn't want to leave her alone in the first place but the tone in her voice made him think otherwise. As the bay brute pulled his cranium back up, he moved closer to the mare and smiled as he swished his tail slightly splashing water on to his rump.

Kita had already worked out that she could very easily stop before she reached her and this mare had absolutely nothing to worry about at all. The black mare was perfectly in control of her body. While she did love to let loose and allow herself to sprint fast and used up all of the energy that often became pent up within her, she was old enough to be able to realise that she had she needed time to stop before she collided. She wasn’t so sure that she appreciated her backing up but she supposed that not everyone could know she had everything worked out. She knew what she was doing. She was six. She kind of had to know what she was doing by now or she wouldn’t have survived. Her dark gaze was filled with amusement at her dry response, having always enjoyed a rather dry sense of humour instead of the loud and obnoxious kind. Tacita may have come off as mature (when she wasn’t having her little run) but if you didn’t indulge the little foal-like urges you got every so often then you were really taking life far too seriously and Kita did not approve in the slightest. Other horses could take themselves as seriously as they liked but in the end they were all going the same way. ”I suppose it is,” she replied after a small amount of time. She’d become a little distracted by the arrival of the stallion, unsure how she felt about his arrival and whether she liked him or not. She supposed that she would just have to listen to him speak and see how she felt then. She was a little inclined to dislike him because the level-headed, or seemingly so, mare in front of him didn’t seem quite so fond of him. She tried to be neutral but it wasn’t always the case. Her curiosity had been awoken all the same, curious as to what had occurred in their last meeting.

.:: | SPRING | ::. .:: | EARLY MORNING | ::. .:: | OPEN THREAD | ::. Disbelief was etched into Niamh's dark brown eyes as she replied to Kryptonite. “Hm. Either that or you are incredibly lucky,” she told him, her tone calm, but once again containing a slight flavour of sarcasm before she turned back to the mare. “We have not met.” Niamh said this like a statement, eyeing her with slightly narrowed, calculating eyes while her upper lip hung over her lower one in contemplation. “You know our names, so it is only polite that you divulge yours... then again, I have never been one for etiquette. I'm sure Kryptonite would agree,” she added, giving her head a small toss with a snort that may have been either amusement or irritation. It was difficult to tell with Niamh.
Swishing a fly away from her rump with her tail, the dapple-grey turned and trotted a few strides away in the water before using her long tail to splash the cool droplets over her hind, cooling herself off. Spirits be cursed, the day was far too hot and sticky for her liking. It may as well be the middle of summer, rather than early spring. “I take it the two of you are not enjoying this heat, either?” she asked, idly flicking an ear. She supposed they must not be. Why else would they decide to bathe here on such an insufferably sweltering day? Though I suppose it's entirely possible that Kryptonite just enjoys being a bother to me, she added to herself with dry amusement.
Well, annoyance or no, she had nothing better to do and so Niamh supposed she might as well make an attempt to be at least reasonably sociable. It was something Delmar had always told her she lacked finesse in. As if it were important to possess social finesse.[/blockquote]

Kryptonite felt a slight twitch, maybe it was the feeling of not being wanted, he slowly backed away lowering his cranium "Well ladies, I know when Im not wanted" he turned swiftly and jumped into the upcoming waves, just because he wasn't wanted doesn't mean he still can't have fun.
He turned around for a brief moment to glance back over at Niamh, he wanted to understand her, if only she would let him in. Kryptonite continued to leap into the waves, the cool touch from the water made him shiver, but it was comforting. Being alone gave time for the brute to think everything over, did he want to go back over there and risk getting his head bitten of by an insecure mare? or was he going to be anti social for once? he nodded to himself with a sly smile and slowly but enthusiastically pondered back over to Niamh and nipped at her flank, preparing for the outcome he backed away a bit, expecting her to kick at him.

”No, we have not met. I would remember if we had, I never forget those I have met. Unfortunately, it is not often for the right reasons.” She replied, realising that this mare was like her and quite to the point. It was a quality not to be looked down on, though she was not against others being ramblers. Just not something she liked to be herself. She’d finished with all she had to say for now and she doubted she would be inputting much more into this conversation. These two obviously had a history together. She watched the two for a moment before she finally decided to speak her name. ”Kita” was all she replied with. She shook her head slightly, her hoof pawing at the ground to kick up some of the water onto herself. The answer to Niamh’s question was fairly obvious and she felt that answering was a little bit too much like a waste of time. Kita’s attentions soon moved to this stallion as he leapt in the waves- too like a foal even for Kita’s occasional outbursts. They normally involved bucking as high as she could and rearing to expel the energy within herself. He seemed just to be playing. Her gaze continued to be more and more disapproving as the stallion nipped at the mare in front of her. She said nothing on the matter, snorting slightly and that was about it.

.:: | SPRING | ::. .:: | EARLY MORNING | ::. .:: | OPEN THREAD | ::. Niamh stared at Kryptonite in mild disbelief. Had she not just invited him into a conversation with her and Kita? Kita, however, seemed content not to respond. That suited Niamh just fine. She enjoyed quiet, which was why she enjoyed travelling alone. The childish stallion seemed to be trying to incite some kind of guilt or sympathy out of the dapple-grey mare. Well, that most certainly would not work with Niamh. She had very little patience for horses she did like, and even less for those who irked her. Kryptonite eventually recovered from his mild tantrum and nipped at Niamh's flank.
He had broken her patience.
The mare pinned her ears back with a furious snort and whirled around to kick out with her back hooves, splashing water high into the air. The movement was so vicious and quick, a blink of an eye would have missed it entirely, her dark hooves connecting with a thud into the bay stallion's chest before she returned to standing on all fours. Trotting away as calmly as if nothing had happened with a brisk shake of her head and neck, she came to a stop near Kita, turning around to face Kryptonite again from a short distance. “I'm glad we came to that understanding,” she told him smoothly and pleasantly.
Next time, I will rip your throat out with my teeth, you overgrown colt.[/blockquote]

The brute watched as Niamh bucked, it hurt but it didn't cause any damage. Kryptonite pawed at the water "What understanding?" he said as he shook his cranium and followed her, he didn't care if she hated him; he liked her and enjoyed her hatred towards him, but he hoped that maybe one day she would actually enjoy his company. As the brute caught up to her, the pain suddenly struck him, he stopped in his tracks and gasped as it felt like a thousand stings. The brute shook himself and slowly followed.
"Im sorry" he whispered hoping that she heard him, but he doubted highly that she would listen or care. The bay brute stopped and sat his muzzle on the top of the calm flowing water, as it touched his top lip he closed his orbs, the wind blew through his mane and tail.

She watched the little fight go on between the two of them with a look of mild interest. It made her wonder if perhaps she was in a nursery disguised as a beach because they were being so immature. The stallion needed to back off and the grey in front of her needed to stop being so easily irritated by him. She couldn’t really complain however seeing as she was more inclined to nip someone if they were annoying her than to talk it out and tell them what they were doing wrong. Something about a pot, kettles and being black seemed to remind her of something. ”So how do you two know each other?” She asked very casually, not sure what had gone on between them for them to act this way. Or perhaps this was just the way Niamh was. She really didn’t know anything and she supposed that it would stay this way until someone clarified it. It was one way to fill her afternoon she supposed... she had nothing better to do. No-one better to talk to. What a sad thought, no-one better to talk to than these foals. Foals who thought they’d grown up but Kita knew different. Kita was six, she still saw three and four year olds as babies.

[glow=blue,2,300].:Roisty:.[/glow] Roisty was wondering what Rhys would think on him wandering down on the land alone but Roisty just wanted time to settle in, and was about to lay down when he was intreupted but a loud of splashing. Roisty lifted his heavy flanks and jogged down trying not to make a noise, to be a spy, but all hopes failed. he nickerd out "Hello,My name is Roisty"
He came down alittle further down the small bank, when he looked back, it's that small even a foal couldn't hide behind that, which made him making a fool of himself.
