Tiago choked back tears that were already streaming down his face. "M-Mama please stay." he begged as his mother lay in the soft grass, her last breaths were upon her now as she nuzzled her son gently-weakly. "Tiago, you are strong. i will always love you my son. Nore will I ever leave you" She said hardly louder that a smooth whisper as her voice strained and a small amount of sweat was absorbed into her already damp coat . The soft grass cushioned her as she fought against her terribly heavy eyes and the aching feeling in her lungs. Morning slowly creeping into the sky as Tiago nuzzled the exhausted mare strongly " You will always be my son..." Her voice got weaker as she breathed her last breath-resting her muzzle against Tiago's small neck. " I love you Tiago.. "She whispered before her head sunk into the grass and her breath seized to flow into her lungs.
Tears streaked the young colt's face, his throat so tight he thought he might pass out from lack of air as he tried to gulp some into his lungs and then release it out as large sobs. " No! Momma don't go! " He cried loudly, burying his head against his mother's soft mane and neck, soon feeling his knees buckle under him and sinking into the grass beside her and sobbing harshly until he has cried himself into an uneasy sleep. Allowing himself to believe this was a sick, and terribly twisted dream. but by the time he awoke at mid dusk after the sun had mostly vanished under the horizon,he realized it was not a dream. His mother lay silently beside him, she looked like she was sleeping..but it was quite obvious she wasn't.
Pushing himself to his feet and lingering around his mother for a few more hours,Tiago nuzzled her strongly one last time before pushing one hoof in front of the others-eyes sore from crying so much and his throat burning from the sobs that retched through him earlier. It was now very clear that he was alone...and the world seemed to have him by the neck.

Cheveyo had said he wanted to go to Creekfall. Ship agreed to this after she found out that it was a prairie full of grass that they could eat. After they rested in the meadow for a couple of hours, she and the stallion made a start on their journey. By the time they reached their destination, night had spread across the land, the skies glittering with stars. “It's lovely here, isn't it Cheveyo?” Ship didn't realize how many stars there were! With the humans, there didn't seem to be as many and were dimmer somehow. Out here they shined in their full glory, as if they felt free in this land too. The Spring night was a bit chilly, and she shivered slightly as the wind skimmed over her back. She suddenly stopped and stood with ears erect. “Did you hear that?” she asked the stallion in hushed tones. “It sounds like the cry of a foal!” She broke out into a gallop, her motherly instincts coming to the surface. She had to make sure it was okay. It was crying out for its mother. Had something bad happened? The grass was so tall in some places, it obstructed her view. The green blades stung her face as she whipped past. Every so often she would stop and listen. The sound grew louder as she drew nearer to the source. And there, under a lone tree, she saw it. It was a palomino foal, a colt from the looks of his size. He seemed to be stumbling around aimlessly. She approached him slowly, not concealing her presence one bit. She nickered to him comfortingly, admiring the way the moonlight shimmered off his creamy mane and tail. “There, there, little one. You're not alone. I'm here. Tell me, what's wrong?” she asked softly, her brown eyes full of concern. She stopped a stride away from him, not wanting to scare him any more than he might already be. If he wanted to, he could come to her. While she waited for the foal to decide, her eyes scanned the area, but she could see no immediate danger. She wondered if the foal was weaned. It was now that she thought about Cheveyo. She looked around for him, thinking she might have left him far behind in her mad dash to reach this foal.

Cheveyo smiled and nodded, seeing the starts shining so bright against the wide, black sky gave him a sence of peace. It was so beautiful out here the way the tall grass seemed to jump up and reach for the sky as it bend in the gentl night breeze that also seemed to take on a feature of its own. Whispering past Cheveyo and giving him slightly shivers as he looked over at Ship "It is indeed." He said with a gently smile, letting out a soft breath feeling the grass softly rub against his legs and chest. Cheveyo stood still-his ears like radars and swiveling around at the cry of a foal. He looked around looking either for danger, a herd, or maby a lone mare and her foal. He stood for a moment longer after Ship broke into a canter just making sure they were safe before lunging into a gallop and trailing behind her. The dark features of the night rushed past him as he pulled in a breath as let it out with each stride, blazing through the tall grass but having to hold his head up a little so it wouldn't sting his face. Sowing to a hault beside Ship he saw the foal, like she had said, seeming to be stumbling arouns like he was distraught. He noticed the foal lift his head a freeze, his small legs shaking slightly asif they'd been wandering allday with oiut rest and were deciding to buckle underhim or not.
Tiago froze seeing a mare and stallion come galloping through the tall grass that he could just barely see over. He felt his tired legs ache in protest against him standing so still like he was. the mare seemed comforting though. Her soft voice and her movements suggested that she meant no harm to him-as did the stallion's movements. "M-my mom..momma" He stuttered, hardly able the think straight yet alone form words with his chaotic mind at the moment.- He tried oncemore to form his words but they stuck to his mouth like peanut butter sticks to a do'gs mouth and he simply couldn't speak. A few tears glistened in the moonligh as they rolled down his face as he looked at the Mare and Stallion-half scared they would hurt him but the ache to just be comforted was so strong it almost hurt him and he dropped his head as he cried alittle harder. The young foal's ears flickered a little at the sound of grasss moving, then the touch of a soft muzzle against his neck made him lift his head to find the large stallion standing beside him. "You'll be ok young one. I prommise nothing will happen" He cooed gently as Tiago pressed his head into the stallion's shoulder and nodded faintly-feeling the stallion gently nuzzle his small neck to comfort and to help settle the foal's tense nerves.

Cheveyo had managed to keep up after all. Ship was glad and impressed about that. She would have to have a real race with him; but now wasn't the time. She blinked as the colt mentioned his mother. He struggled to relate the incidents that had happened prior to their arrival, but seemed to be in anguish and could not continue. She drew closer to the palomino foal but stopped as Cheveyo reached him first, comforting him. He was such a gentle and kind stallion. “We'll look after you,” Ship added to Cheveyo's reassurances. “What's your name?” she coaxed. She had a feeling that something terrible had happened to the foal's mother, and felt a slight unease. She wasn't sure if they were safe, and there was hardly any cover in this location. The foal was very lucky that they had come along when they had. They would still be in trouble if a pack of wolves came along though. “My name is Ship,” she offered with a nicker. “And that big stallion is Cheveyo.” She munched on some grass, suddenly feeling a hungry after all the exertion. A shadow passed over them, and the mare's head snapped up. But it was only an owl, gliding past on silent wings. The only sound she could hear was the continuous chirping of crickets. She drew cool air into her lungs. If the foal's mother were dead, which seemed likely, then Ship decided she would watch over him. She wasn't sure if Cheveyo would be on board with that, but if he were then they would continue their exploration. The foal would slow things down a bit but they could be an awkward family of sorts.

Tiago sniffled alittle and managed a nod, feeling Cheveyo's warm, gentle breath on his shoulder before the stallion took a slight step back to help balance the wobbly foal ashe leaned a little too much one way. "My na-name is-s Tiago" He said trying to be polite as he held his head up best he could but his muscled denied it as he looked from Ship to Cheveyo as a cool breeze whispered past the colt's face. "Are you guys i-in a herd..?" He asked as Cheveyo dipped his heat dow for a moment and stole a bite of fresh grass before answering. "No, we have just met hours before meeting you. We were heading out to explore the lands...but I think it's best if we stay and rest with you until you are well enough" He said looking over at Ship with a 'we can't leave him' expression. "Go ahead and rest Tiago, you've wandered a great distance on your own" Cheveyo reminded him as Tiago nodded,he had finally stopped shedding tears and was slowly calming down with the help of Ship's soothing tone and Cheveyo's firm, but gently voice. He looked back for a moment, from where he had came-hoping to see or her his mother calling him but alas, there were only shadows. He felt a wave of cold sadness wash over him like a wave washes uopn the shore-coming in going as he laydown in the tall grass and closedhis heavy eyes-Trusing the mare and stallion to still be there when he a woke

“Tiago,” Ship repeated. “It's a nice name.” She touched her black, velvety muzzle to the foal's fluffy mane. She inhaled his scent, memorizing it, and laid next to him to keep him warm as he sank onto the grass for some rest. She was grateful that Cheveyo still chose to stay with them. He just kept on surprising her. He certainly wasn't at all what she had envisioned a wild stallion to be. Maybe he had had all his fun already and really was looking to settle down, like he had told her. The dapple gray mare watched to make sure Tiago was sleeping, then looked up into the stallion's blue eyes. “I don't think his mother is coming back,” she whispered. She was fairly certain Cheveyo had come to the same conclusion. “It seems like fate that we found each other,” she said, nuzzling Tiago as he slept. As she lay there quietly with the foal, listening to the crickets, she picked up a sound she hadn't before. It sounded like running water in the distance, rushing and tumbling over rocks. The sound was soothing and she dozed. When she awakened again, the sky had turned a light shade of pink. Ship lipped at Tiago's creamy mane, then gently moved away so she could stretch her legs and graze. She hoped he would be well enough to travel with them.

Cheveyo's ears went up at the sound of Ship's soft voice but then rotated back a little as he sigh and nodded gently. "I'm affraid so. What ever happened to her was very traumatic for him" He said softly as if not to wake the sleeping foal. Cheveyo did not lay down the night like he usually would have. Instead he stay standing with his weight on all legs except his left front, taking turns on resting eash hind leg as he slept-his ears rotating arouns to listen for any danger that might harm Ship or Tiago. HE woke during the night, watching the little foal snuggle up against Ship ans seeing SHip nuzzled the foal gently in her sleep. She really was a good mother, from what Cheveyo was seeing and it was a shame that she had lost her first foal. But as she had said earlier, maby it was fate. Tiago slept deeply, feeling the warmth of the dapple mare beside him gave him a strong feeling of security as he allowed dreams to captivate him for the time being. When morning came,Tiago woke as the large sun was just leaving the horizon-birds singing out to it as they too awoke from their nests in the lush trees arouns them.

Ship looked over Tiago as he slept. On second glance, he looked quite grown. Most likely he would not be needing her milk after all. The mare yawned and nudged Cheveyo's shoulder in greeting. “Thanks for watching out for us,” she nickered, placing her neck over his. She let out a contented sigh and lingered near the stallion for a moment before slipping away, brushing her tail along his side as she passed him to continue grazing. Eventually, as the sun continued to climb higher in the sky, Tiago opened his eyes. Ship whinnied so he would know she was nearby. Her tail swished as she munched the grass, the sunlight warming the day quite nicely. As she looked out over the grassy hills, Ship took pleasure in their surroundings. Bees hummed while collecting pollen, their bodies surrounded by a halo from the morning sun as they flitted from flower to flower. There were a few flies of course but they weren't particularly bothersome yet. Ship tossed her head, snorting, feeling the need to work off some pent up energy. She pranced around Cheveyo and Tiago, inviting them to join her in her frolicking, and then she broke out into a gallop, kicking her heels out to the side. She stopped after a few minutes, her sides heaving but her eyes bright and happy. She then stood with pricked ears in the direction of the creek, the sound of the rushing water calling to her. She licked her lips, realizing she was thirsty. “Would you two like to head for a drink?” she called. “If not, I'll be back soon.” Trusting that either they would come with her or Cheveyo would look after Tiago, Ship trotted off in the direction of the creek.

Cheveyo smiled, rubbing his muzzle on her shoulder for a moment " It's part of my job" He teased as she headed off to graze, feeling her tail brush against his side as she walked away he playfully nipped at her side and cantered a head seeing if she'd catch on. Joining her in her frolic he lahged nipping at her side and bolding through he tall grass, keeping half and eye out for Tiago before slowing to a hault to catch his breath, his sides heaving slightly as he snorted and tossed his head feeling refreshed after their run. tiago lifted his head, and then stood up after a moment-nipping at the dew covered grass as the water felt cool on his tongue and mought as he chewed it. "I'll stay here and watch Tiago-Just keep an eye out for anything" Cheveyo said sounding more likea leader than he had before. Tiago studied him for a moment and walked over to graze beside him, bumping the stalllin's leg and then looking away quickl as if expecting to get hit or a hard bite. instead he heard a soft chuckle and was nudged back playully. The foal lifted his head and smiled nipping at the large stallion before tearing torward-Cheveyo chasing him as an easy lopw to let the foal thing he was getting away.

Ship felt happy as she left Tiago and Cheveyo, pleased that they were all getting along so well together even though they met one another not long ago. She felt a twinge of loneliness return when they did not decide to join her, but she could not ignore her thirst. She climbed a nearby hill to get a better vantage point. It seemed this land was full of rolling hills, now that she was viewing it in daylight; and their grassy tops swayed in the breeze which brought a sweet scent to her nose. A green grasshopper leaped on a blade of grass in front of her. She peered at it closely with her nose nearly touching it, and gave a snort in surprise and backed up a few steps as it landed on her nose and out of the range of her vision. It viewed the suddenly hairy surface with its strange eyes, giving a quizzical expression before hopping off and disappearing again. As Ship looked down, she found what she was looking for. It was the creek, snaking its way through the land, happily roaring along the way. She made her descent and found cattails growing along the side of the water. She took a cautious drink, the cattails rubbing against her ribs as she did so. She suddenly felt a bit insecure here without Cheveyo. Her gray ears picked up the sound of a snort. She lifted her head, water dribbling down her muzzle and neck. Had they followed her after all? But her brown eyes showed her a different sight. She gazed at a black filly, who appeared to be a yearling, partially obscured by the tall grass and weeds surrounding her quickly growing body. Ship didn't quite know what to make of it at first, but lowered her head and moved her ears to point in the direction of the filly. The fact that she was as black as coal tugged at Ship's heart strings, reminding her of the foal she had lost. “Why, hello there,” Ship finally said. “Are you lost, my dear?”

Cheveyo stood in the meadow with the young Tiago. He snorted slightly as his blue eyes scanned the area, smelling nothing but fresh grass, pine and of course Tiago and Ship's scent that lingered around him in the late morning air. Flickering his ears,The air seemed alittle heavy-rain would probably be on the way towards dusk. Allowing himself to graze for a while he kept his ears on alert, checking things through hte corner of his eyes as he swished his tail against his sides. Tiago romped about, feeling better than he was yesterday-there were so many new things here!! He pulled in a curious breath as he looked at large Monarch butterfly that flitted arouns him happily and then landed on a tall blade of grass where Tiago continued to investigate it-his nuse brushing against it for a moment. The butterfly lifted off the grass, and landed on the bridge of Tiago's nose-the foal made a face trying to see it better and ended up crossing his eyes little as he watched the Butterfly and felt itls long legs tickle his face. Cheveyo lauhged watching Tiago ans smiled to himself.

“My name is Ship,” said the dapple gray mare, standing her ground as she could see the black filly was still timid. She had introduced herself as Unity, and said that her mother had left her. Ship let her gaze wander, wondering exactly what that entailed. Did the other mare abandon her foal? Or had something terrible happened to her as well? The filly stood up, peering at Ship with her blue eyes. It did seem that the color was more common here. Ship noticed cuts on the filly's legs as she apologized for possibly scaring the mare. “Don't worry about that. Can you tell me why your mother left, and how long has she been away?” she asked, stepping closer to Unity, and extending a soft breath to show that she meant no harm. She would need more information before just running off with this filly, but it seemed like they had gained yet another travel companion, the way things were going. As she questioned Unity, she kept hoping to see the filly's mother, but so far hadn't had any luck. She hoped that Cheveyo and Tiago weren't worried about her taking so long, though she thought to herself that if she had run into a stallion then things would be completely different.

Cheveyo kept an eys out-Tiago grazing infront of him as HE stood on all four legs with ears swiveling aoruns and eyes scanning his view for any danger. He nipped at few flies on his shoulder and looked aouns wondering what was holding Ship so long. He wanted to check and make sure she ws ok but he couldn't rick Tiago's life if it was somethign dangerous. He sigh and decided to give her a few more minutes..since mares seemed to look at everything they walked past even if it was a small flower. that, and they dind't liked to be rushed so..he decided on 10 minutes tops and fater that he'd go looking.
