Hooves that were set upon the lush grass were placed hesitantly, cautiously. if there was a place where the grass was thinner, that was where they would land. Steel grey stallion's plume swished through the air in irritation, and audits flicked back and forth as though listening to several conversations at once. Occasionally a non-committal grunt would issue forth from larynx, as though he had no opinion on the subject matter of conversation.
Brute made his way towards the thickest part of the fields, where the grass grew belly high, and there was no inch of land that went untouched by the grasses that grew there. softly the brute could be heard.
" 'Scuse me, sorry, pardon me.. I know, I know, I'm sorry, I didn't mean it.."
As dial raised, ears and eyes focused upon surroundings, before hind foot stamped violently upon the grass beneath it. Violent snort issued forth from nariz, and auds laid back upon his crani'.
"You know I have no choice in the matter! It's just the way things work ok? I didn't choose my lot in life either, but I don't have any more choice in the matter than any of you do."
Dial lowered to the grass and labrums pulled back to reach around some of the stalks of grass. A bustling breeze blew, causing the grass to bend out of his reach. The cacophony in his voice was clear when he next spoke,
"You know I don't want to, but Stooma won't be quiet and you know how he gets. There's no choice in the matter and no other way to keep him quiet."
The breeze died down and the stallion went on grazing and apologizing as he happily took part in the corrosion of the height of the grasses that were immediately surrounding him.

To the outside observer, her wanderings would look aimless. Nagisa would argue with you on that point; her little stroll had a definite and important purpose. Finally she had a home again, and she wanted to see every inch of it, study it, learn it. Brown eyes flickered about, taking in every little nuance of the trees, the shadows of their branches and remaining foliage, the forest floor thick with all manner of things that tried to trip her. The mare was in awe, despite the fact that this woodland differed little from any other deciduous congregation. It helped that forests were a relatively new phenomenon to Nagisa. Her homeland was open, with trees only growing alone or in sparse belts. It was nice, really; she could be alone without feeling exposed and vulnerable. She actually had a chance of hiding if a predator showed up. But then, the predator also had more places to hide. Gertrude had said something about wolves lurking around here...
Maybe it was better if she didn't think about that.
The thickets fell away in to open grassland. This terrain was much more familiar, and it's simplicity took less studying. Her pace quickened, only to slow down again and stop altogether. Only a short distance away, a grey stallion stood grazing.
She hesitated. Getting to know her herdmates was just as important as getting to know the territory. She could have asked Gypsum to show her around, or even Gertrude. But she had determined that she was not going to hide behind anyone's skirts. Nagisa had let fear govern her for what felt like forever, and now that she remembered what she'd been missing, she wouldn't be cutting herself any slack. This fellow might not even live here, but it would be good practice. So she tried to ignore her apprehension, tried to forget just how long it had been since she'd just moseyed up to someone and made small talk. 'Do I even remember how to do that?'
The rabicano plodded forward, trying to look nonthreatening. Her nose stayed low to the ground, casually poking around, as if the grass interested her more that the strange stallion. The aforementioned didn't appear to be worried by her approach. For the sake of her pride she kept up the act, snatching a mouthful of grass here and there. No need to let him think she was paranoid.
Finally she stopped, with a few yards still between them. Close enough that they wouldn't have to shout, but distant enough that she wouldn't be invading any personal bubble. Unless he was just really touchy. "'Ello." She offered a smile, one that did nothing to hide her bashfulness. "Uh, I'm new...youse a fellow resident?"
o.o.c. - Good heavens, it is so late and tacked-together! My apologies, Hyena. Gomen. =/

As the sun continued down its descending path from its zenith in the sky, the wind brought in clouds that covered the sky and encouraged the temperature to drop. Although in the middle of winter, and the grass deadened, it was still the lushest within the local area that he had found. As he continued to nibble on the grass beneath his feet, the soft crunch of grass and hoof beats fell within hearing range. Dial rose and auds pricked as the fae approached and as the clouds in the sky started to let loose of it's densening molecules. Stag let loose a soft wicker of greeting upon the lady's greeting. "Hello yourself."
Eyes softened slightly as orbs ran over her frame and facade, taking her image into mind. Stag continued chewing as she continued her end of the conversation. Dial bobbed slightly and forelock fluttered as the air caught it in the motion. "Ah, welcome then! I suppose I am not quite a true resident of these parts...I am a recent addition to these parts myself."
Stag looked slightly uncomfortable admitting this to the fae, but he continued on, hoping to get past the awkward phase of introduction, "AH! My manners have gone out the window! My apologies Lady, I hope you can forgive my slight of etiquette."
In a blink, he was moving on, introducing himself. Stallion arched his sinewy neck, and lifted his flowing banner, magnifying his elegance. His pride in himself, for who he is was evident in his bearing,"I go by Beaucoup, though you may call me Beau if you like."

She listened politely, trying not to fidget under his scrutinizing gaze. "Oh, then welcome t'you too!" She wanted to kick herself. Somehow it didn't seem safe, letting a stranger know you weren't well established in a place, especially if said stranger wasn't either. If there was one thing Ganesh had managed to drill into her daughter's head, it was to be wary of stallions.
He looked pretty awkward himself, though, so that was comforting. That is, until he introduced himself. Then the stallion drew himself up, employing ever muscle into a superb example of poise and self-dignity, showing himself off. And that show was not lost on Nagisa. It seems she had forgotten just how easy on the eyes the male gender could be.
'No, now just because I think he's good-looking doesn't mean I'm attracted to him! I'm not boy-crazy. Seriously. Please just shut up, self.'
The stallion introduced himself as Beacoup. The French elegance of his name was lost on the hearer, who was too amused by the pronunciation. "Think I'll havfta go wit' y'full name. Too much fun t'pass up...anyway, name's Nagisa," she told him, ducking her head in a bow of sorts.
As her head came back up, something faintly wet alighted on her nose. Startled, the mare looked up at the sky, and the silent flakes she'd been too preoccupied to notice before. "Oh, hey, the clouds' dun started shedding!" Brown eyes dropped, to the deadened scenery around them. "Wonder if it'll pile up. That'd make for some purdiness, no?"

As he introduced himself, he could sense the femmora's appreciation for his sinewy, and athletic bodice, and the impression of maleness it pronounced of him. Though just as much as it was there during his introduction, it was also muted as he relaxed again into casual conversation.
The fae welcomed him to the lands as well. How peculiar..for one who is not of these lands to issue a welcoming to him, he thought. Amusement danced through his brain like a fluttering flashing of a hummingbird, though facade did not betray it. she introduced herself as well, giving her call-name Nagisa."How lovely to meet you, Nagisa."
He let the name roll off his tongue, and let his brain chew on the sound of it coming forth from his vocals. The clouds were slowly opening up, and the frequency with which the frozen particles of water fell increased. Though the flakes were still large, light and fluffy, it was starting to pile up, just as the fae had predicted it would. It seemed her desire for the pretty sparkling, almost mystic sense the snow brought to the land would be granted."It seems as though your desire for the sparkles to cover the ground is coming true. How divine."
Never one to complain much, he took things as they were, typically. though that's not to say that others didn't. Whispers echoed up to him from below his feet, complaining about the ever-enduring cold, and the desire for the warm sun's rays to dance upon their leaves again. He sighed, and murmured, "Yes yes, I know, we all want the sun to come and stay."

She tried not to fidget under his gaze, mistaking his nonchalance for scrutiny, even condescension. Not everyone would judge based on appearance, and she felt bad thinking he might. But there was no way to tell what was really going on between his ears.
The little mare suppressed a shiver as the flurry gained enthusiasm. Almost as if in accordance with her wishes, as Beaucoup suggested. If only the world worked that way. "Y'think so? Maybe them clouds is jus' bein' nice cos it's cold. Usually they jus' wan' dump water on m'head."
The gossamer flakes were falling fast now, to the point that one could hardly look up without blinking wildly. Therefore she shut her eyes as she tilted her face to the sky again. Her tongue came out, inviting the flecks to grace it with their presence. Before anything landed, however, his voice drew her attention back to the stallion. 'Way to pay attention,' she chided.
He wasn't looking at her. Come to think of it, his voice had sounded distant; perhaps he hadn't intended his words for her. Well, better to be safe than sorry. "Hmm, what? Who ya talkin' to?"

Stag turned his crown towards the fae, auds pricked. "What's that now? Oh, nothing of importance, my dear. The land just whispers of warmer days, and bemoans the cold that is now."
...this shall be interesting, he thought. Once he spoke of the voices that spoke to him, most just eyeballed him as though he was crazy and took off as soon as politeness sanctioned it. he was the only one that seemes keen enough to hear them.
Perhaps it didn't help that he always tilted his head and eyed others with his single blue eye when he watched their reaction, but it was no genuine fault of his. He felt like he could see the intricacies of shadows better with that eye rather than his own shaded one.
The wind seemed to be frowning upon them staying so long in this bit of the clearing. Rather than just stick it out, he felt like wandering through the lands, seeing what there is. Why not, when there is someone who is bound to not be fond of the chance to familiarize themselves with their new home? "I think I shall wander a bit, if you would like to accompany me, to see what else there is to see in this new land."

His off-hand way of speaking gave her no reason to suspect he might be serious. Nagisa was a mare familiar with personification, dabbling in it as a means of humor. Maybe that's what he meant, or maybe he liked to be poetic. But being literal? The thought never occurred.
If anything, she was more concerned with the way he glanced at her as he spoke. The eye he used was icy blue, like Gypsum's. She couldn't accustom herself to that color, yet; it gave the owner a gaze she translated as critical. Nagisa had enough problems with paranoia already. What was he looking for, anyway?
"Yeah? Well, it's got a bunch t'be moanin' 'bout. Shoot, hope nothin' don' fall offa me!" she said, glancing at her hooves. The little rabicano had the misfortune of having seen frostbite once before, and she had no desire to see it again.
Indeed, this wouldn't seem like good weather for traveling, but for all her complaining, Nagisa knew it was unlikely to cause her any serious harm. A veritable forest of fur stood between her and the elements. So she jumped at his invitation. Her new home was lovely, but there was still so much she wanted to see. "Sure! Still a big chunk of it what I ain't seen yet."
