Coming to the edge of the meadow Keme stopped just inside the treeline, lifting his nose into the air he sniffed the air. Taking a deep breath, his nostrils flaring he didn’t detect any smells that were out of the ordinary. Still he took a long look around the meadow. One thing his mother had taught him before her death was to always be alert, that was how a horse stayed alive and free. That was exactly what Keme intended to do stay alive and free. When he’d decided that there were no threats in the meadow he to a measure step out into it. Stopping when the step was completed he surveyed the meadow once more wanting to be sure in his assumption that there wasn’t any danger.
He waited a long moment watching every sense highly alert and still nothing. He decided that it was safe so started to the middle where he knew the best grass would be. He hadn’t stopped long to eat in a few days and this seemed the perfect opportunity to take the time and fill his stomach. It didn’t take him too long to reach to middle and soon he was bowing his head to grab some of the grass that was so sweet on his tongue.

Misty cautiously lifted her head. She noticed something moving somewhere far off. She lifted her nose. Nothing. She wanted to investigate but she wasn’t positive how. She started trotting towards the mysterious moving object. She was silent. The objects made a movement and Misty jumped in surprise. The objects did not seem to notice anything and kept doing whatever this thing was doing. Misty was a little scared because she has never experienced anything like this before. As she got closer she realized it was one of her kind. A horse she thought. She didn’t realize she had made a noise. The other horse was startles as of day dreaming and not realizing something had approached. Misty jumped because she had scared the other horse which had scared her. Hi I am Misty, she said quickly trying to make conversation. Hoping she didn’t sound as silly as she felt.

Keme thought as he munched the sweet grass of the meadow that he'd never tasted grass so sweet. It was perfect after not really eating anything during his travels. Though he had no idea where he was going he was determined to get there. He figured he would know it when he saw it.
A loud crack sounded around the clearing. Keme's head shot up ears twitching one way then the other trying to pick up another sound. His nostrils flared as he breathed in the smells around him. A slight sent came to him, that of another horse a female none the less. It was only a moment later that he saw the other horse which seemed to startle, he titled his head to one side watching her curiously. Then she spoke greeting him saying her name. He observed her for a long moment before speaking, "Hello," he said, "I'm Keme," he added taking a few steps toward her nostrils continuing to flare as he took in her scent, "You know it could be dangerous sneaking up on a lone horse."

Misty said with guilt “Sorry. I was just curious!” “I have never been in this place and just thought well it’s hard time I make a new friend.” Misty’s mother died when she was young so she was never taught manners. She was only told to beware and cautious. As Misty’s nostrils flared at the unusual sent of another horse, she started to eat. She didn’t realize the other horse had introduced himself. “Oh, sorry I wasn’t paying attention. I was too busy eating and thinking about how tasty this grass is.” She started conversation, and told the story of how her mother had died and how young she was. Misty then started to dream, about her mother. She remembered all the fun times they had (the times she could actually remember). She wished she had known her longer. Misty then said “My father also died”. Misty was very upset and remembered the tragedy of her father falling through the ice, and Misty calling for help but no one came. She started to sob quietly. Misty asked, “What is it like to have parents?”

Keme's ear twitched slightly at her words of apology and friendship. He hadn't ever had an actual friend before, "You don't have any friends?" He asked her a bit surprised. Keme had them grabbed a bit more grass still feeling like there was room in his stomach. Munching it he waited for her response only yo hear her apologizing yet again and commenting on the taste of the grass, "The best I've had in awhile," he commented before shaking a fly off his head his mane flicking this way and that. The mare spoke of her parents which only reminded Keme about his. "Mine was as good as," he stated when she told about her father. Then Misty was asking what it was like to have parents, "My father was never around being lead stallion was more important than his son and my mother died almost two years ago," he stated, "But while she was alive she was wonderful taking me places, teaching me things..." he told the mare trailing off sadly. "I miss her," he finally said quietly.

Misty was upset. "I didn't mean to bring anything sad up it just....." She trailed off. She had never had friends and had to hide to make sure she would be safe, when she was younger. So she never had the time to make friends. "I actually never had friends, or grass this delicious. My father alway took me to this valley. I am not positive where it is though. The grass wasn't the tastiest either." She was still feeling awful about making her new friend upset about his parents.
Misty began silently munching on the grass. The more she ate the more memories came to her. She started to sob. "I hav had a horrible childhood. I need something to replace it, but I don't know what!" Misty said. She tried to stop eating to see if the memories would trail out of her head. Sure enough they did. She then asked Keme "Can we be...friends?"

Keme shook his head in confusion, “I’m not sad,” he told her,” I accepted my mother’s death a long time ago, really had no choice in the matter and as for my father I no longer care if he take an interest in me. I left my herd after my mother’s death and I have been on my own really ever since.” She didn’t need to know the particulars of why he had left his herd. She admitted to never having friends of grass as good as what they were munching on just then, “I haven’t really ever had friends either,” he admitted. Keme hadn’t ever stayed with a herd long enough to make friends. As for the grass, “This is the best tasting grass that I have come across in awhile,” he told her.
He observed her for a long moment as she ate the grass before he heard her start to sob. This made him a bit uncomfortable, dealing with sobbing females was not is strong suit. “You may have had a bad childhood but now you can have a great adulthood,” he stated not knowing if it was the right thing to say, it was true all the same, “You just need new memories,” he added. And she wanted them to be friends, “I don’t see why not,” he stated, “It will be nice to finally have a friend.”

"You really think so? We can do so much!"she said excitedly. She jumped up and down and began prancing around in circles. She couldn't believe that someone would believe her, trust her and willing to be her friend. She has never experienced something like this before. "I am in shock right now! I hav a question, what exactly do friends do?" Misty felt a little sill asking this simple question. She hoped he would respond so they could do something they could do together. "Oh my gosh!" She said. "Is this some kind of trick, to like make me go away? Oh dear, I hope not." She was getting a little worried and wasn't sure she should trust the stallion. Even if she liked him a little more than a friend. She actually was really starting to like Keme. She worded her words carefully and said "Keme...I...I....I like you!"

She was questioning if he thought they could, he nodded his head, “Definitely,” he stated. Much to his surprise she started jumping up and down before prancing around him. This wasn’t a reaction he’d been expecting from the mare. He also wasn’t expecting the question she asked him next, “Well…I don’t know since I never had a friend before but what do you say we find out together,” He suggested it was the best thing he could come up with at the moment to answer her question. He tilted his head to one side in question at her, “A trick?” he Asked, “Why would I play a trick on you?” He hadn’t any reason to want to play a trick on the mare so was very confused as to where she got that idea. His head shot up somewhat, ears pricking to attention at what she said next, the way she said it, “You like me? But you hardly know me.”

"I know I hardly know you, it's just....your eyes are amazing. I don't think I will ever find another stLlion like you." Misty said. Misty hoped she hadn't made a fool of herself. "How about we do something fun. I am not sure what but we should do something together. I also feel like I have known you for all my life. You're just so sweet, kind, and I can tell you are the one" Misty hoped she hadn't creeped out Keme. She looked away feeling a little stupid after saying all those things. "I hope I didn't scare you away. If you don't want to be more than friends...I just like you." Misty said feeling a little sorry. "I have a question" She said. "I know this is weird for you but, do you like me?" She hoped she didn't look foolish because she felt it!

She thought is eyes were amazing and Keme couldn’t really argue with that since he thought they were his best feature, “They are nice arent’ they.” She wanted to do something fun which to him sounded like a great idea, “Did you have something in mind?” He asked her curiously. It was the rest of what she said that had him tilting his head at her in confusion, “How can you know that about me when we just met and haven’t even been talking long?” For all she knew he could be really mean though he wasn’t, at least he didn’t think so. “How can you know if I’m the one?” He was still young so he didn’t know how a horse would know that. She thought it was weird for him which it was and now she wanted to know if he liked her, “I do like you but as a friend. I think that is what we should be till we get to know each other better.”

"I know I haven't known you for very long, it's just the bell in my head is crazily ringing. I know you're the one! This is very odd because we haven't known each other for very long." She felt stupid after letting all those things burst out. She wanted to hide under a rock, but she knew she wouldn't be close to fitting. "Maybe we could go for a swim! It's a really nice day. We could chat and learn more about each other." Misty started to get excited and really liked the stallion. " If you wonder why I know you are the one, well I have met so many stallions and they are all way to over protective and care mostly how they look. You Keme on the other hand, you are a loving, caring, and considerate person. This is really weird but I want to spend my life with someone like you." Misty started to blush. "Can we go to the river or pond to swim now?"

So there was a bell going off in the mares head telling her that he was the one. Keme didn't know much about relationships and the like but he didn't think a horse could know if another was the one after only a few moments of conversation. "Are you sure that maybe you want a friend so badly you might be confused about what your feeling?" He asked suggestively. She was then changing the subject to swimming which seemed a good way for them to get to know each other better, "Sure," he said nodding his head. Swimming did sound nice after traveling for so long. She was then telling him how she knew he was the right one for her, "How do you know I'm not like the others?" he questioned, "For all you know I could be worse." Keme wasn't trying to be mean to the mare just proving a point. He didn't even know who he was yet so how she could know was something he didn't understand. She wanted to go then to swim. He could smell water not far off, "Let's go," he said before taking another bite of grass and heading in the direction he smelled the water.

Misty pranced not too far behind Keme. "Are we almost there yet? It feels like we have been walking for ages!" The mare was getting antsy! She couldn't bear to look at him any longer and know she couldn't have him! "Keme, she said quietly, truthfully...you don't like me do you. I understand...Its just that..Oh never mind." She couldn't help but get a little bit close to the stallion. "Keme....I know you are the one. I can feel it! We are ment to be! It would be best for both of us! Ughhh!!! Finally, she said loudly, Water! We have arrived!"
