Melody wandered scared over the plains. She felt exposed and she didn't like it. She kept glancing up at the sky and finally her legs gave out. She stumbled over a gopher hole and fell to the ground. She made no effort to get up. She was tired and hungry from walking so far and she couldn't understand why no one had come to help her. She whinnied loudly then set her head down and closed her eyes.

MysTori flung her head up from the grass when she heard a shrill whinny come from somewhere on the plains. The whinny sounded desperate and sad. MysTori took off running as fast as her legs would carry her. Sunlight glinted off her golden body as she flew across the plains. Soon MysTori came upon a mare lying on the ground. She could tell the mare was exhausted and needed help. She gently nuzzled the mare's forehead to wake her and said "Hello? Are you alright?" MysTori's big brown eyes showed concern and a bit of fear for the downed mare.

melody's small body was nothing but bones she looked up to the mare with big blue eyes "where is my mommy" her head feel again she was so weak h er mother had been killed by a lion and she was running to find her again even though everything in her body told her that she was gone she ran till she could run no more she looked up at the mare again "have you seen my mommy" little tears ran down her face and her front leg was bleeding.

MysTori looked down at the poor little mare and nuzzled her neck gently. "I haven't seen your mommy but I will help you however I can little one" but MysTori knew the mare's mother was gone forever. "Come with me and I will help you and take care of you." MysTori nuzzled her again and waited for her reply

melody looked up and then soon tucked her knees under herself and stood she was still very wobbly and unstable but she was a strong willed filly "ok i will go with you " her eyes were filled with pain and longing for her mom but she didn't show it on the outside she loved the feeling ov the mare it made her calm and she soon smiled some her coat was dirty but still had a shine in it

MysTori smiled warmly and gently nuzzled the little mare's shoulder and nickered with encouragement. "What is your name little one? My name is MysTori." She slowly walked next to the little mare and together they arrived at a stream and MysTori drank and then waited for the mare to do the same.

she lifted her small legs in the tall grass her rust fur was a dark mud color now the shine was fading from her coat and she needed a bath she looked at the mare "its m-m-melody" she looked back into the water and slowly walked in she let it wash the mud and dirt off her coat letting the shiny rust color come back she took a few swallows of the water and then smiled up at the mare she walked back up to the shore and nibbled on the grass as the sun began to fall

MysTori watched the poor mare walk into the water and she could see Melody was in poor shape. She smiled back at Melody and gently nuzzled her shoulder as the mare started to eat. MysTori gently started to groom the poor little mare and smiled at her as the sun set.

she soon started to fall asleep as the mare groomed her she stumbled trying to stay awake the feeling of sleep was to much her legs gave out and she laid down she tucked her head and began to sleep she dreamed of her mom and then of the new mare that seemed to love her even if she wasn't hers

MysTori curled herself around Melody as she slept and MysTori whispered in her ear "everything will be alright. I promise. Sleep tight my little one." MysTori laid her golden head over the mare protectively and fell asleep with her new friend.

The sun was just beginning to rise when MysTori woke. She gently nuzzled Melody to wake her. "Good morning Melody. I believe it is time for us to go. We should go home so you can rest more. Come my little one."

she lifted her small head and smiled at the mare "ok" she got up a little shaky at first but soon was ready to go he took a few bites of grass and a drink of water then something caught her eye it was a butterfly her main and tail was a mess when she trotted after it giggling a cute little giggle she turned to look at the mare "it reminds me of you because you just came along and made me so happy" she cantered back to the mare and nuzzled her.

MysTori smiled at Melody and gently helped her up. MysTori watched the mare happily and smiled when she heard her giggle. "You are so sweet little one." MysTori smiled again at her and nuzzled her back and started to walk towards home. "Do you think you can trot a little? I don't want you to exhaust yourself. Home isn't too far but it is still far enough that I am sure you will be tired." MysTori looked at Melody worriedly and nuzzled her. "We will go as far as we can until you tell me you're tired. Ok?"

the little mare smiled at her "ok she soon was in a fast pace trot beside the mare "i can canter some i think" she yelled as she giggled her energy was odd for how small and skinny she was she looked over to the mare and kicked out a little only proving that she had a strong will and was going to be a fighter and live after all a little hole appeared infront of her and she sprang up and over it landing and giggling some more.

MysTori smiled back at Melody and laughed as the mare jumped a hole. "Lets canter then" MysTori kept a pace suitable to the other mare and soon they were off to their new home.
