As the sun rose, rays of light shone on the grass and trees casted shadows on the soft carpet of green, some of them young and thin, some of them ages old, thick and large, spreading their great branches. A mare with large areas of creamy white and sandcolored brown covering her body trotted through the trees, little dark specks spread on her fur, caused by the shadows of the softly waving leaves above her head. She blinked a few times when the sunlight shone directly into her light grey eyes and narrowed them for a second untill her eyes got used to the light coming from the sun. Her ears pricked enthusiastic and cheerfully forwards, shifting when hearing noises that seemed to be different from the singing of birds or the rustling leaves. A low, short sound could be heard when her hooves made contact with the slightly wet ground. Little dewdrops glistened almost crystal-like in the early morning light, when the sun rose to warm the earth after another cold night.
But let’s be honest; The mare, bursting with energy and dancing and trotting, didn’t really fit in this peaceful picture.
Malibu was a young, playful mare and she described this situation not as peaceful or beautiful; Her vision was that his was plain boring. Hey, nothing happened, and really, those birds sung every day, she could hear ‘em every morning and it was always the same song. Thoughts like; Work on your lyrics flashed through her mind as she snorted and made a weird, random jump to the left, almost rushing into a tree. She decided it was time to start doing something before she’d fall asleep in here.
So…What should I do, she thought, and possible actions started to make their way into her right now empty mind. She could start running in circles randomly.. Or jump just for fun over some fallen trees and streams… Or she could have a second breakfast..
The decision was taken out of her hands when she sensed another being near her. She listened and breathed the air in to catch the smell, and more information entered her brains. It was a horse, and he or she was coming this way. Hooray, distraction from this boredom. Her head tilted to the side where the horse would be, somewhere hidden between the trees, and she rushed of, galloping as fast as she could, nearly bumping into trees and avoiding them last-minute. She neighed loud and enthusiastic, as if she wanted to say ‘I’m coming!’ Her ears were at once moving alert, registering every little sound, every little cricket that sung or twigs which cracked under her hooves.
Finally she could see, through branches and leaves, shining in the morning light, another horse. She tossed her head once and then stepped forward, swishing her tail a few times and pawing the ground, which didn’t do any good for the grass. “Why hello there. Also enjoying the beautiful morning here?” There was a slight hint of sarcasm in her voice when she spoke the word ‘enjoying’ which really didn’t sound like she meant it. But she spoke friendly and if she could, she would’ve grinned. 'Embarrassed' was a word she appeared not to know of.
