H...Help me...Please! the dappled mare had lived most of her life in the beautiful golden desert and this was to be the obvious end. She knew it. She was going to die, she was scared. Dreamer had seen her brother die and now the same thing was happening to her. She didn't want to die alone. She wanted Akkan to see her for the last time.
She staggered into the parts where she had first arrived. The lake was still there shining bluer than ever. Blood spilled from her mouth. She started choking on it. Coughing sounded dreadful. A blood drowned gash slit through her rump and forelocks. A bleeding wound dripping from her neck. She wasn't dappled any more she was stained blood red. A tiny bit of water dropped from her eyes. The look of help me was in them. Her legs gave way and her blood talons were stained. How it had happened. The disease. It had caught up on her and she needed help.

a . kkan i’ll carry you back to your grave, where you and i will always stay. i close the casket it gets dark, they’ll find us in each other’s arms.
king of the desert x groom to none x sire to none
The desert fell silent. Not a soul wandered the earth and it was his fault. He wasn’t around enough, it seemed, no matter how hard he tried to seek out a mare to bring back to the herd – they just weren’t existent. He tried making regular visits to the Cliff – but he could never bring himself to pluck a pretty mare from dozens of them, as he’d turn around and flee with his tail between his legs.
A violent nicker erupted through the breeze, immediately alerting his senses. Perking his skull up, he searched for any sight of an equine, excited for someone else’s presence. Taking a few steps forward, he made sure he didn’t miss a movement. Quickening his pace, he found Dreamer lying on the floor, drenched, and choking on her own blood.
Lucky fae.
He thought briefly, almost wishing he was drenched in his blood, lying on his own turf, choking on the crimson liquid his heart pumped.
Dropping to his knees, it was only then hearing the wheezing she made, trouble breathing was he then concerned. A puff of dust erupted from underneath him, nestling close to his dearest, most committed mare.
Why didn’t you propose when you had the chance? She was the only horse that ever stayed!
He winced under his breath, tucking his knees under her chin, cuddling close to her. He stroked her face, blood streaked across with every motion he made. He stayed silent – he had this feeling that no one survived this ort of thing.

Dreamer could feel Akkan's hot breath on her, a smile slipped onto her face. Not a big one mind, just a very small one. She felt like she was finally home where she should be now with Akkan. She loved him so much but didn't every other mare in the herd? Though where were they? Sometimes it seemed Dreamer was the only one who stuck around. And now perhaps she was going to leave. Everything and everyone she had ever loved. She tried with all her might to look up at Akkan but she was too ashamed to do it and far too weak. There were three horses she knew who got this and only one survived. Perhaps she'd be lucky. It was too soon to tell.
The deep red blood trickled down her throat. Her coughing got worse and she felt sick, very sick. The gash on her forelock had dried up a little but her rump was blood stained. Where Akkan and Dreamer lay together was in a pool of blood. Akkan's coat would be stained she didn't want to be blamed for that.
She had always tried to fit in with her coloring some of the horses in her old herd saw her as odd. The lead was bay and so were the mares making all foals bay. So they knew she was an outsider. Though when she first arrived at the desert before Akkan at the very beginning. They liked the coloring complemented her. Why was she thinking about that anyway? Perhaps her life was flashing before her eyes. She shut them tight and wanted the pain to be gone.
