(Wake me up) Wake me up inside (I can’t wake up) Wake me up inside (Save me) Call my name and save me from the dark
She had followed him – him who she knew so little about. Him who she only felt she knew about. Him who was like a ghost. Him who had never said his name…
Mute, but not stupid, as the mare trotted onto the sand, she recognized the Shores – the land she had been told she could reside in the blessed land of impressions.
Pyrefly reared, screaming for all she was worth, her cry emitting in a call only the bats and wolves could hear. But it was all she could do; she could talk to the bats, but not to those she needed to.
(Wake me up) Bid my blood to run (I can’t wake up) Before I come undone (Save me) Save me from the nothing I’ve become ((it's a horrible post - sorry, I'm making a brand new character for a different site, and it has to be a certain about of stuff, so it's being annoying... but nevermind that. Please, Kinneh. I want them to really meet... alon.))

On the road again. Not so much a road that let far away from this place, but still moving, still on the road. And for what seemed like the thousandth time, he wasn't even sure why he was on the road. Again.
His hooves paced the soft sand once more, his eyes glazed with wonder as he stared straight down. Sand was an odd thing, and the Catalyst did not understand it very much. It was so soft and gentle, yet when there were so very many grains, it was strong enough to hold him up. With a whinny, he pranced in a few swirls, his mane flying as he let a little bit of the fun within him escape for but a moment.
Then, as he opened his eyes and saw the mare, he pulled to a stop and froze where he stood. It was odd that he should keep getting so nervous infront of others really, particularly this mare. Her scent sent off messages in his mind that he could not quite connect; she was familiar, but not so familiar to make him greet her right away. And so, he relaxed his posture a little and gazed at her, wondering what to say or do.

Cardinal lanterns turned to the slightly unexpected approach of the czar. Of course, the nymph had wanted it to happen, but it had been a dead wish, one of little to no importance. The black form landed, daggers scraping the sandy beach as her surprise took her to a near-fall. Head dipped to greet the brighter form, head and heart pounding a tattoo.
Why was she so nervous? She had flirted with many a stallion in her past and nothing had held her back then. Now, it was as though she was walking on a glass sky and even the slightest mistake would send her into the froth of the sea below. So careful, so delicate; so annoying. The ess took a single step towards the stag… then stopped. He seemed frozen, and she did not want to be the first to break the serenity.

She wasn't doing anything.
Yes, she landed safely from her calling (if it looked a little dangerous at one point), and yes, she had taken one step in his direction, but otherwise she wasn't doing anything. And it didn't help Catalyst's own position.
This mare was odd. He'd met her before, mere fleeting moments that he could barely recall. But somehow, there was something deeper there, something more eerie and strange. His gaze remained locked upon hers as he swayed ever so slightly, all this 'standing still' taking its toll on his muscular legs.
Who is she?
His mind swan as he silently pleaded for an answer. There was something he needed to know, something he could not remember - and, as he tried to remember it, his vision blured and his head pounded. Oddly, he dropped to the sand, a pained expression on his face as he lay there.
His head returned to normal, but his eyes stung, and he lay still. Between deep breaths, he let out a whinny.
Who is she?

A rare confusion entered the occuli of the czaress. Silently, slowly, the black-hued thoroughbred walked towards the fallen stag, curious orbs of fire turned towards him. Neck was outstretched, paper thins eagerly taking in his scent. What was wrong? Her fear vanished completely, leaving only her confusion and surprise. Had she herself startled him?
Silent whicker passed through her kissers, and, close as she was, it may have brushed his cheek. Why, oh why did she seem to know him? Why, oh why did she have to be mute? Why?

It was a strange moment, as he lay there on his side, blinking fretfully to rid his eyes of whatever was causing the pain. His heart raced, though not with fear, perhaps more with pure embaressment. What sort of stallion simply.. keeled over and died when he met someone?
You, obviously, the sarcastic little voice in his mind replied.
The Catalyst huffed, a gentle touch caressing his cheek, a touch which he could place only to the sound of the mare. She must have come closer. Slowly and gently, his vision returning, he eased his form upwards to stand once more. With a shake of his head, he freed his mind and stood taller than before, seemingly stronger. Then his gaze eased, and he spoke a few whispered words.
"I am sorry - I don't know what happened, then."

Again, and to her utter embarrassment, the ess took a step backwards. Her emotions were mixed, and she barely heard his words as she attempted to place her feelings in their places.
Mouth opened, without even a strangled sound coming out. But she shrugged, attempting to say it was alright. After all, she, too, had surprised him, and it might have been Pyre to fall over.
Lanterns sought to find his - it is oft easier to speak through the eyes than through the body, as the nymph had found out after the accident. She awaited to hear his lyrics again - the unfamiliar lyrics she felt she knew.

Things still seemed so strange.
He watched with questionable eyes as the mare took another step backwards, almost running from his advances (not that they could be named as such), even though he had made no movements to alarm or frighten her. He smiled gently at her in a calm attempt to sooth her mind and soul. He didnt not know why he wanted to try and calm her - after all, she was nothing but a stranger. But somehow.. more than just a stranger.
A stranger who hadn't spoken. He did wonder somewhat why she had spoken no wods, not even upon his fall. She did not seem to dare grace his presence with verbal acknowledgements - perhaps because of her nerves? Either way, it was beginning to send shivers of worry through his veins. Why didn't she speak to him.
"I am the Catalyst."

Words. Both a cursing and blessing as severe as a cleansing cut. If that was truth without lie - Pyrefly would no more be cleansed. Smile flickered 'bout her maw, surprising herself at the calmness radiating from her own body. She stepped forward, instead of back, until he would be able to hear her choked words.
Pyrefly... Pyre...
Immediately the ebon minx ducked her head in shame. Oh, but if she could truly talk! Perhaps she could ask him the questions burning in her injured throat. Why did she know him? Why couldn't she run, or stay away? Well, that was easy enough. Curiosity killed the cat, anyway.
Onyx dagger scraped the ground the ess was staring at, though she knew it did no good. Once again, her head lifted, though her auds were flattened in shame. She hated her voice - or lack of one. But what could he do about it? What could anybody do?

Changing legend into fact We shall ride into history Turning myth into truth We shall surely gaze
As if she'd overcome some sort of emotional border, the mare overwhelmed herself by twisting her feelings to the opposite end of the scope. He continued to watch her with a kindly gaze and smile, as she actually managed to take a step towards him instead of away. Something inside him felt an essence of pride, that he had, in some undefined way, helped her to overcome something she struggled with.
And then she spoke.
Her voice was sweet, yet it held a muffled tone and he furrowed his brow in slight confusion. Her throat sounded hoarse from lack of use and again, it worried him a little. Perhaps there was some other reason she didn't speak very much.. but he doubted he would ever know.
"You have a beautiful name."

Auds flickered forward in surprise. He didn't hate her for her voice - or lack of it? Grey stripe 'long mare's nape danced, an odd mark in an odd place. Her Mark - the mark of her silence, of the rope. Flaming occuli cooled to old cinders, gentle gaze helping her take one more step forward before she stopped, quivering. Stallions - what did she know of them? She had met none but her father, and the stallion of these shores called Storm. She had met few mares as well, but she needed not think of that. All she had found were either phonies or kooks.
Boa dipped in thanks for his compliment, another way to hide her embarrassment. Uneasily she danced in place, beating the sandy beach. She couldn’t say anything else to this stallion – the Catalyst she reminded herself – and she feared he’d leave. But he’d left before… And she followed him.

The Catalyst stood still a while longer, his mind simply running out of plans and innovations for the next few steps. This mare was practically a stanger to him - all they knew were one anothers' names - but then, he reconciled to himself, knowing a name meant that the named was no longer a stranger. But that was a theory that remained unproven, simply something he rolled around in his mind now and then so he knew he had kept his sanity.
The stallion watched the mare with a curious eye and a rising feeling that he knew her from somewhere. But how rude would it be to ask? Hey you - I've seen you before, tell me where before I drive myself crazy over it like a pathetic madman. Oh that'd be a bundle of joy now, wouldn't it? Catalyst shook his head - but passed it off as a toss of his crown to shift his mane a little - and let a small neigh escape him.
He watched her as she took a step foreward, but gave a puzzled look when the motion quivered and then stopped. Mirrioring her, he moved his foreleg out before him and took a pace toward the mare, before stopping and pushing out is nose in order to reach hers. He wasn't entirely sure why he did it.
On the sweet unfolding Of an antique mystery All will be revealed On the trail we blaze ooc :: sorry for the wait :C Its hard to reply knowing that she's never gonna say anything to him (and thus he'll never know anything about her).. kinda drains your muse Cx [/sup]

(Wake me up) Wake me up inside (I can't wake up) Wake me up inside (Save me) Call my name and save me from the dark
Eyes watched, taking in his movements like a thirsty horse drinks from a stream. Why? Well, did anyone know the answer to that question. Harks pricked at hearing his small sound, such a beautiful sound when one could make none. Such a cutting and beautiful, deadly magnificance. Relaxing once more, slight breeze making both mane and tail flutter slightly, he took a step towards her. And her quivering began again.
But when he reached towards her, all fear left her as she reached towards him. Surprise found itself into her flaming orbs, for it seemed so... natural. But she knew no other stallion well... no other horse well, to be sure. She didn't even know this one sure. But she felt like this was were she belonged; beside him, to strengthen him.
Lips parted, forcing air between them. First, it was just the hiss of air. Then...
Catalyst...
Head jerked up in surprise. Well, that was completely unexpected. Joy showed brighter in her eyes, maw curved into a half-smile. Was her voice healing? Well, only one way to see.
I... ow th ma nd odd, bu eh fee eh kno ya...
Blush blazed across the mares features, turning her pelt from black to a molten fire sort of look with black covering it. Oh! How she hated herself for rushing things. Perhaps he'd think her stupid now... and he'd leave. And she'd follow. Because she didn't know what else to do. What she had attempted to say was "I... know this may sound odd, but I feel I know you..." Oh, to be imperfect!

Changing legend into fact We shall ride into history Turning myth into truth We shall surely gaze
Catalyst remained where he stood, still, and ever waiting. His gaze was gentle as he watched her with a smile, feeling like the carer of somebody with a disability. It's okay dear, you can walk now dear, come dear you can do this.. What a friendly samaritan he was becoming.
A bout of surprise struck the stallion sharply across the face as, slowly, softly, and in a voice unused and hoarse, his name floated over the airwaves to his flickering ears. Though he was not a friend to her yet, merely a stranger helping, the joy in her eyes warmed his heart and he shared it with her, bouncing on his hooves as he neighed the happiness her voice was to sore to scream. He fell silent again, a warm smile adorning his features as he watched her.
She tried to speak again, but this time, the words were not so clear - perhaps 'Catalyst' had been easier to say, as she'd already heard how it was pronounced? Still, he moved his jaws in sync with hers, but with a delay of a few seconds as he attempted to translate the words, or more so, syllables. His quickly paced mind figured out some; "I know this... odd, but I... know you." Luckily, those words were some of the major ones, and so from there he could make a good estimation of what she had tried to say - and it took him aback slightly.
He lay a confused look upon his features, as his eyes changed, and feelings began to rise within him. Fear, confusion, and for some odd reason - anger. Just the smallest doseage of anger, which in turn gave more fear. He knew he was not called Catalyst for nothing; his personality was explosive and he could - would - change suddenly. Taking a step back, he parted his jaws with narrowed eyes, trying to hide his eruption of feelings. "...Know me?"

(Wake me up) Wake me up inside (I can't wake up) Wake me up inside (Save me) Call my name and save me from the dark
His voice made her back a step, confusion in her eyes. He had changed... and so suddenly. He had been happy – and now he was trying not to get upset. What had happened?
I… feel I know you. I don’t know wh-
Pain coursed through her as she spoke each word, until she choked. She watched him, feeling a deep sense of regret. She should never have spoken. His name… but never her mind. Anger began to boil her blood. Why did he fear? Why did he try to act indifferent, trying to hide himself? Why was she angry? Hearing this thought, a wave of peace settled over her soul. She was hiding her feelings, so why wasn’t he allowed to hide his? So she watched him, eyes flaming their usual red.
