The Lands of Night Sky
[ ]The Claiming Meadow
A large meadow that lies between the Deep Forest and the Lush Fields, this protected area on the edge of Night Sky is dotted with many trees and covered in little streams. Recently, it has become a place where mares might find a home, and as a result stallions often come to seek members for their herds.

[ ]The Graveyard Ravine
At the northern end of the Deep Forest is a dark ravine, known for its strange reputation as a place to mourn the dead. Young trees and thick undergrowth cover tumbling boulders and river rock, disguising the steep falls which would distinguish most of the ravine. A small stream runs along the core, although in the summer months it often dries up leaving a leaf littered, aromatic mud behind.

Horses of the Desert
[ ]Vast Desert
Endless golden dunes, sandstorms, and flash floods are some of the normal phenomena the horses of the Vast Desert can expect. Fed by underground springs, the desert was once spattered by hidden oases, most of which have been lost or destroyed. Only where the desert recedes and the great forests and meadows of the east begin remains hospitable.
00
[ ]The Oasis
The not far from the border of the forest and meadows, the oasis is the life of the desert - it sustains the herd and a small grove of trees and edible plants that is sustained by a spring. The "pond" always dries up in the late summer, after spring wetness has subsided. In desert storms this is where the herd finds shelter.

Horses of the Sky
[ ]Deep Forest
Getting deeper and darker the farther you venture in, this forest is the primary territory of Skraeling and his croonies, these forests are rough and tough. There is no room for weakness in these parts. Any who enter uninvited, be warned.

[ ]Rocky Mountains
Full of treacherous climbs, steep falls, and landslides, the Rocky Mountains are a risky place to roam. From the foothills in the border of the Deep Forest the snow-capped peaks of the tallest mountains can be seen, indicating the vast size of this place. Hidden valleys conceal many lakes and ancient boreal forests, accessible only by the occasional pass. In recent years, fire and landslides have destroyed much of the plant life, blocking well known trails and sealing in the occasional valley.

[ ]Lush Fields
Bordering the north-eastern Deep Forest exists an endless meadow. Vivid green in the spring and gold in the autumn, the Lush Fields were relatively untouched by the cataclysm, with only the southernmost reaches flooded. The delicious, crisp grasses, said to taste of spring itself, still offer an abundant food source for the passing horse. Myth has it that it the meadows were once home to an outlaw band. Today, only whispers and tales remain, warning travellers of dangerous spirits, those of the fallen outlaws who roamed this land.

Horses of Creekfall
[ ]Creekfall
Tall grass and rolling hills characterize the grasslands of Creekfall. Stretching as far as the eye might see and the nose might smell, the prairie is speckled by the odd tree and shrub, and an occasional thicket. During the Summer, a variety of wild flowers colour the horizon. Reedgrass Creek meanders through, bubbling and forming tiny waterfalls as it rolls among the hills.

[ ]Reedgrass Circle
Along the Reedgrass Creek stands a great circle of trees. The giants provide shade and shelter, some having fallen and hollowed over the years.

[ ]Sunfall
With fewer hills, Sunfall in the west is named aptly after the setting sun. Also dotted with the odd tree, the prairie is divided by the Amber River in the north.

Horses of the Beach
[ ]Ocean Cliff
Once a great plateau overlooking the ocean, the Ocean Cliff and its beach now lie mostly in ruin. Parts of the cliff remain underwater, while the higher reaches are scattered with debris as the great wave swept away much of the forest and scrub. The now submerged and perilous rock make the land near uninhabitable and a careless step could send a horse tumbling into the sea.

[ ]The Beach
It has been said that the most beautiful sound in Night Sky was that of the sea as it rolled into shore. This is no longer so. Like the Sandy Shores with which the Beach shares a border, the land is underwater. The odd sandy islet rises out of the blue, and on the eastern shore outcroppings of rock still creep from the water. In the north, a small marsh has begun to grow, with an abundance of water lilies and sedges.

[ ]Sandy Shores
A part of the vast floodplain, patches of the Sandy Shores are still accessible, forming little islets both barren and strewn with debris. Once home to the renowned herds of Spirit and his son Flamed Storm, little evidence remains of this decimated territory, inhabited now by the most unwelcoming of black flies and strange fish.

Welcome!

Welcome! Night Sky Equines is a play-by-post wild horse roleplay game. We are semi-realistic; the horses here might not always behave like horses. Nonetheless, we still have fun trying to survive in the exciting world they live in.

Our characters find themselves in a little slice of paradise: a beautiful, and nameless coastal region sometimes known as Night Sky, more often just known as the land. Youll see no fixed alliances (dark, light, neutral etc) or strict plots, only horses coming and going as they please. Since 2004 weve been telling our story, and here we continue.

News & Events!

September 06th.

Hello all! Crowsia here. For those joining us in the last four months, I'm the wayward administrator of this dear community. Officially, please welcome Rovell to staff. I also would like to note I'll be back in full swing by the end of this week, since I have internet access again, having moved back to the city (northern Canada tends to be a tad isolated, so thank goodness for returning south). I hope you're all well, and I look forward to meeting everyone. Cheers for now. (:

May 29th.

A new announcement is up, along with two new pages! These pages are Non-Player Characters, and The Story of Night Sky, which briefly details current overreaching story arcs.

Season: Spring

High: 20C (68F)

Low: 12C (53F)

Spring has come, and with warmer days, the snow is melting in the northern lands, bloating rivers and expanding the Floodplain. Watch out, that creek might be faster than it looks.
