I was reading some older and new threads, like both the Suggestion Marathons as well as some actually suggestion threads. Some of them are a bit far out, but that is besides the point. This is in some ways plot discussion, in other, suggestion elaboration. You should share your opinions, and even ideas if anything inspires you to build further.
One of the newer suggestions was the introduction of predators to NSE that are not within player control. This is not a bad idea although it is a worrying one. However with some contemplation it does seem feasible through an NPC (Non Player Character). This would be very much like the Gaia, which is an NPC played by staff whenever suitable (since it is two particular viruses that are A. only active in certain seasons like West Nile, or B. only active if there is a carrier (like Si'less Ivan, who originally brought it to NSE; anyone want to be a new carrier, and I'll bring it back, Si'less was immune but still had it activity, however if you want to kill a character off who was born out of NSE and recently migrated here, I recommend this, so we can bring it back.). So if we introduced an NPC to prey on our little characters, it would be similar to the Gaia, in that in cannot kill you without consent.
Another is a fifth herd that would be nomadic (even though horses naturally are, we can just assume on NSE the herd lands are big enough so they don't need to wander), this was suggested last year. It is also similar to a herd designated (so to speak) for the crazies, which might actually still happen. But I do not think at the moment this is a very good idea since the current herds are a little sad and empty and mare lacking. Instead, on the herd front, I think it might be neat for us to have the herds interact again. Form some alliances, maybe even enemies.
Perhaps some mare from the Mountains would murder one of her own foals, and blame it one the Islanders (or maybe an Islander actually would. I could bring Santiesa (sp? XD) back for instance, as she would despise Windago's line and want to destroy it (she's the last existing native Islander when it was 'discovered' and Abyss died in the challenge for it, for some history. And Starr, the only other, left with Amber.).
That would start a conflict and force the herds it interact again. It hasn't happened since the flood, and hasn't really happened since 2005. The possibilities here are endless here!
Then, another once-upon-a-time discussed idea was the wake of religion in NSE. WE staffies kind of discussed it but eventually stopped. We could even integrate a cult with another old idea of rum. There wouldn't be rum of course, but it was the idea of drugs that it bred. Some kind of plant or fungus (hey, like the Massachusetts Experiment) might make some horses who have hallucinations begin to believe in a higher power, maybe even have messages from them. They might think they are messiahs. Depending where a cult went it also has endless possibilities.
That's all I'll put for now, there's lots more, but we'll never do a thing if it's not one step at a time.
