Triskelion, All the while he circled and she watched, the wolf became more unsure and more agitated. What did she think? That he could eat grass and trees like her? What a joke! Little did she know, what she said next would hit so close to home. Especially from a horse. Especially from a horse standing over her brother as he lay prone, only moments away from what might be his last breath. And as Gypsum abandoned him, a shadow seemed to settle over the wolf. Triskelion laughed, dark, miserable. An evil, growling, laughter.
“Someone did, little horse! Someone’s hooves broke my brother’s skull in! Do not think that a wolf does not know what death is!” He struggled to master the hysteria that crept up his stomach, planted a seed in his heart, and then tried ever so hard to reach his throat and throttle him. Later, when things had calmed and his stomach was full or the mare had killed him, one of them would probably think back and see how ludicrous the conversation had been.
And he found, now, that he harboured no pity for her. He was without family. He had survived. That was how the world moved. Sometimes you lived, sometimes you died, and sometimes your family would fail you.
“You are simply wrong. Killing you gives me my life, and what greater joy could there ever be than that?”
Once more he leapt at her, this time poised to tear at her throat.

You tried to be honest; But "honesty" blew it this time ♦ “Someone did, little horse! Someone’s hooves broke my brother’s skull in! Do not think that a wolf does not know what death is!” This had tore at Gin's soft heart. She blinked once, her stare becoming less and less cold. "Everybody knows what death is. Death is a cruel and cold departure from this world into the next. I apologize for your loss, and it must have been heartbreaking. Losing someone you hold dear and close to your heart is something I have experienced; and now, I'm experiencing it again. But you cannot continue to shoulder that burden alone, it will only tear at the very core of your being; ultimately destroying you in the end." Wow... even she didn't realize how deeply she could go. It might not change the wolf's mind, but at least her heart had a chance to speak. “You are simply wrong. Killing you gives me my life, and what greater joy could there ever be than that?”"I am wrong? Who are you to say that? You live upon the life which you drain from your prey; what good is that? If your life can only take root in soil made wet with other's blood, then that is hardly a life that you should be proud of." Gin seemed to dig deeply for these responses. How can he do this to the innocent? What wrong had they done onto him? She noticed his action of becoming airborn. This time though; he aimed directly to her throat. She looked at his eyes; which now burned with hatred. Gin hadn't the slightest idea what she should do. She couldn't hurt him, she refused. As much as she wanted to, she could never attack another living thing, no matter what. Gin seemed to pivit herself to the right, effectively dodging his aim away from her throat, towards her side. If he hit, then he hit. At least it wouldn't be her throat.[/blockquote]

Triskelion, Her voice, something about it lulled him into a stupor. She was so determined, so sure of her convictions. She felt empathy, even for an animal ready to tear out her throat and that of her brother. Triskelion thought this a strange affliction. Quickly, he shook away the feeling that she might actually be right.
Because was wrong. She was very, very wrong. He could be proud of survival, proud he had taken something’s life, to keep his own. Triskelion gave her no response before leaping.
The mare turned aside. He didn’t miss. But his claws only managed to graze her side. It felt like hardly a glancing blow. Never ready to give in, Triskelion, a ball of spiked grey fur and burning amber eyes, teeth that shone in the last settling rays of light with saliva, came at her again.

Gin looked to the wound in her side. It wasn't serious, but it still delivered some pain to her. She had some mild bleeding, again not too serious. Gin looked to her brother. He was practically at the verge of death now. Gin could hardly believed how badly she failed at protecting him. Gin saw him lunge at her again. His teeth shone in the setting sunlight; his amber eyes flaring with rage and anger. He looked like a furry commet travelling from sky to land. She saw her bare his teeth, ready to strike once again. Still refusing to attack him, she continued dodging his attacks. Why couldn't he just call a truce and back off? Was he really that determined to have her dead? He already had Corr practically dead.[/blockquote]

Triskelion, He’d leap, she’d move aside. Triskelion didn’t mind this, this was how the dance was preformed. Running would always be more desirable, but then you didn’t always get what you wanted. Now it simply remained a matter of who tired first. Trisk had stamina, all wolves did. That did not mean the filly wouldn’t have it too.
He feinted to the side and grabbed at her hoof, loud, guttural snarls in his throat. She hadn’t been lying about having no family. With all this noise they’d have been down on him in a heartbeat. This sense of eternity, forever undisturbed, Triskelion felt like he’d be struck by lightning. Maybe he had. He feinted again, looking all the world like he might barrel into her side straight on. Yet the wolf fell short! His jaws closed around the mane of the colt and he gave a yank! He tried to drag the animal out from under her, and maybe, just maybe, Gin would topple with the colt’s body about to slam into those slender, stick legs. Maybe she would run away.

You tried to be honest; But "honesty" blew it this time ♦ How long could she keep this up? Not much longer before she grew tired. Gin knew she couldn't stop though. She still felt pain in her side. She felt it again as the wolf grabbed at her hoof. She saw him feint to the side; gripping onto Corr's mane. As he tied to drag the colt away, she seemed to fall due to the drag. Pain rushed through her head as it hit the ground. The world spun in her eyes as a blur. Gin became discombobulated and dazed. She observed the blurry vision of the wolf dragging her little brother away, though she could do nothing. "Gin... there is no hope for me now... I love you... never let your fear strike you down." His words were trailing and fading as his death clock ticked. Those were the words she'd spoken to him. It was almost heartbreaking to hear him now. The words I love you, especially. Finish him quickly, wolf. Let him feel no more pain than he has already endured.[/blockquote]

Triskelion, And that was that. The mare fell. Were Triskelion truly ambitious he might have jumped on her while she lie unable to do anything. He did not. Beneath the growling of his voice he heard the colt stir. Triskelion hardened his heart. No point getting sentimental now. He ought to be rejoicing. You know, a job well done, all that. Maybe his parents even would have been proud.
When they were some ways off from the mare, safe from attack and hysteria among the marsh grasses and the beginnings of trees, Triskelion clamped onto the colt’s thin windpipe. It was well known among wolves, or so he recalled his mother saying, that such an act was better than letting them die of shock. Whether this was to be kind or a precaution against being kicked, he’d never really been sure. Still, he did it now, his teeth wrapping about the softness of the animal’s neck until he moved no more.
Triskelion just sat with him a moment, watching the mare as she lay there in the sand. He raised his head into the darkness of sky and called. Something between a song of mourning and an invitation wavered into the cool air. Which, exactly, won out? Impossible to say. Perhaps even the wolf, so long without others, did not know himself.
And so ended the life of Corr.
Triskelion fed.

You tried to be honest; But "honesty" blew it this time ♦ She continued to lay, not unconcious, but still dazed. She heard the wolf call out in a sort of song/calling. Then he heard Corr's final cry as the wolf had begun to feed on his flesh. Gin's eyes clampsed tightly shut, tears beginning to stream down her face. "Goodbye, brother... you'll alwas be in my heart." Gin's voice was shaky again. She stood up, holding her head low. "At least you will feel no more pain..." Gin just stood as she listened to the gruesome feed of the wolf. She opened her now tear-filled eyes, just staring into the water. Tears rippled at her reflection. I love you, brother... may your soul rest in peace.[/blockquote]
