On Sunday, June 18, 2006 a dear friend was lost. Oreo the goat. Oreo was a big and heavy bundle of memories. He was one of the fist goats that one of my family friends got. This family friends small boy would go out to call the goats when he was just big enough to walk and barley talk. He never said "Here goats..." it was always "Oreo!", he struggled to say the goats name... but Oreo knew it was his name. For he was the first goat to run to the feed troff, and at this time the only one you could pet.
Oreo would play if you offered to play with him when he felt like it. He would stand on top of a concrete cylinder and want you to push on his head. He would always take any food you offered him, which may be the reason he was over weight.
On that grim day of May the 18th.... we got a call. Daddy had told us when we got home from Church, at this point Oreo was still alive.
He was wild-eyed, and seemed to be drunk... for when he got up all he could do was walk around in circles. He began to get better, but that afternoon he got worse. We had to bring some medicine, the poor whether was having convulsions. He would lie on his side and shake, having no control of his body. We filled him full of all kinds of things to try to help him... but our efforts failed. He did get up and walk around in drunken circles on good time for a while, but then he fell and began to shake once more. We left, we couldn't stand to see him like this. His owner stayed with him, when we went to go feed Catch, he told us Oreo had gotten worse over the night. He said at around 9 o' clock PM, Oreo settled down, and seemed to be peaceful. He left Oreo to die in peace... and the next morning he buried a good friend.
I did have time to say goodbye... but I did not say it, for I will see my dear Friend again some day. Just like I will see Candy, Lucky, Feather, and my family members that have joined them.
My Oreo rest in peace...
