I do not know if this is a personal hike, but when i join a site i mostly only join when descriptions are detailed and plentiful, and as a successful admin of a game with over 300 members i have realised what attracts members and what turns them away, and one large attraction is detailed baords, now i took time out to give an example of what yous could look like, feel free to use them if you want them seen as they are created for these boards. I can give you many tips and help out, and for an example take a look at my sight by Clicking here
Anyway, here is the examples, yes they are rather big, and what i was going to say then was going to be extremelly innocent but would sound incrediably rude, the bigger the better *stop laughing you dirty minded people XD*;

Game Information
This board is a very important board on this role play game; night sky equines. It holds all the very important information which needs to be stored for the game. This includes the rules, information on The Gaia and all sorts of different guides which can help you through your time role playing here at night sky equines. Please take out time to read the threads posted within these boards. We do appreciate the fact rules are boring, but without them the game would be a mess, so take time out to read them through thoroughly so that you understand them to save later complications. If you need further help after reading them, PM an admin.
Joining
Once you know that you understand all the rules and have taken time out to read through them this is the board where you come to post up an application to join your character up at night sky equines. Use the form which is posted in the header of this page to fill out; in as much detail as possible. Once you have posted your application, wait for an admin or staff member to accept you before you start to role play anywhere on the board.
Randomize
This board is totally, random, wicked and so much fun. You can talk about anything here to your hearts content and chat away all day and night to your fellow role players on night sky equines. Discuss your favourite topics, talk about horses, hey talk about that movie you say last night. No spamming, fighting or cussing will be tolerated on this board. No advertising.
Plot Discussion
This board is the all time needed place for all role players on night sky equines. Come here to rant and rave about a current plot, help with the ideas going towards a future one of maybe set out your entire new plot to see what others think about it, hey come on, be creative.

FAQ’s & Suggestions
Everyone gets stuck and everyone needs help at some point, so do not be in any way shy or hold back from posting here and asking for that much needed help. All members, staff and admin are at hand to help you upon your problem and help you sort it cleanly and quickly, also take a look at the FAQ’s (frequently asked questions) to see if its under there.

Now this is the board every guest who is on a mission is searching for. The very famous advertising board. Come here and advertise your role plays to your hearts content, on one condition, you have an open guest enabled advertising board or you are willing to place up our banner. No illegal sites or spamming. Only one post per role play.

Adoptions
If you have a character you wish to get rid of, or your mare has just thrown a foal and you need someone to role play it, this is the board to use.
So if you have got fed up with a character, or you have an idea for one and you need a fellow role player to adopt them, post them here with their full stats and other important information.
The same goes for Mares placing their foals up for adoption for a fellow role player to take control over. Only the person putting their character up for adoption may finalise who receives the character.
Graphic Requests
It seems that there has been an increase in a demand for personal pictures for role play characters. So here is a board for that purpose. Here artists have their own studio’s and they make pictures for the role players on Night sky equines. Post at the selected studio to order a picture.
In order to get a studio please PM an admin or staff member.
Herds
Sandy Shores
Sandy Shores is a very beautiful terrain, where natural beauty occurs. This terrain has the beautiful scenery of the open ocean meeting the sandy shores of night sky equines. It is a peaceful, tranquil place where many friendship blossom and the herd lives in natural harmony under the watchful eye of their great protector; their stallion. It has been ruled by many great stallions and is still upheld today by one of that standard. The land has vegetation to offer on the grass lands beside the beach, and plenty of shelter from the trees which clump together. Food source is high all year round. Be careful of the waters, there are strong currents which could easily sweep an equine from its feet and carry it out to sea, some waves are huge but the shore makes a wonderful place to bring up a young foal, giving them memories they will never forget.

Rocky Mountains
This terrain is for those who can uphold some struggles on the rocky and un even terrain, but the downside has a great positive side that out ways it. The rocky terrain means that although it looks dangerous it is actually safe from wandering stallions and when it evens out, there are many secret hide always that only the herd members know of, and the vegetation that grows upon the mountain is luscious and grows well all year round. The temperature drops a little lower than other places but that is down to the high altitude. Many trees line the mountain side, offering great shelter and protection, but be careful of the gullies and large cracks, foals can easily fall. There is a natural spring that runs right down the mountain side, leaving the horses thriving. It is ruled by a great stallion who stands on the highest peak watching over his family; his herd.

Vast Desert
The Vast Desert is indeed that. Sand rolling over sand hills and terrain which would be unsuitable for those who do not wish to endure to hot temperatures throughout the day and the cold temperatures at night. Though described as a desert, it does indeed have grass bankings and hills, proving nice vegetation. The surrounding perimeter is where the sands lay, making it harder for those who wish to cause havoc and crime. It is literally the land where sand meets terrain. Horses thrive on the terrain through the summer, and the trees provide great shade and throughout the winter they make great shelter, and the temperatures always seem a little higher around this region. Deep inside is a water hole, where horses can drink and cool down. The deserts are ruled by a strong willed stallion who can protect his herd.

Other Stats inside
Tropical Island
Not such an Island, but the lands of the ‘tropics’ have great vegetation, all the horses here thrive upon it. The lands are green, luscious with may trees and plants. The shelter is constantly surrounding, which provides shade in the hot days. The temperature around here is rather mild at night, soaring in the daytime. Foals here grow up with very fond memories and this is a place where native horses are bred and born, never leaving and making it their constant home. Inside is a great watering hole attached the sea by a long river, be careful, it is known to flood and burst its banks but not often. The lands are protect by a faithful, strong willed individual stallion who cares for his herd deeply.

Wow. Descriptive. It's not rude, its constructive. But perhaps futile at the same time, Crow's got a stick up her arse when it comes to size.
Personally, if I site had painfully long descriptions I might join but I probably wouldn't read them. The smaller and simpler a description, such as 'It's a desert, decide what's there.' (well, not really, but its an example XD) force one to use their imagination, and they don't have to remember anything. They also (although not signifigantly) make the page take longer to load; I'm only sympathetic to this because I have dial-up and know what its like trying to load a large site at 21kbps. NSE is just a simple game, to chill out and such about. Longer descriptions make more sense for OOC boards, personally. But there is a link to the rules at the top of the page, and Game Information should be pretty obvious 'find out what's going on here'. If people don't want to join because NSE is not their bag, that's okay, their choice.
Although, I like the idea for the herds, moving the stats inside. I once thought to chuck a table in the leads can modify, allow haven't, because I'd have to modify each board differently. Though it would work as an add on.
If longer descriptions are popular among everyone though, sure, why not! XD

I like the idea the leads could change the stats, therefore if new members came in often we wouldn't have to wait.
However the descritpions... i don't like long ones, i don't read them and they would take too much to load. No one i know goes on descritpions, they go on layout and on posts. As why is a description so important when people can use their imagination?

Thats fine, but the people which i speak to, which are intermediate advanced role players which i am sure you want to attract, love long descriptions, now personally not everyone reads them, but it just makes the site look so much ore attractive and professional, it shows that someone has put time into making their boards.
I understand and agree with everything you said, but i just think the descriptions appeal to more advanced role players, and thrown in with the beautiful layout i think it would just be like putting the icing on the cake XD

And er yeah... just kind of rambling about the... certain boldness of a new member. STay here a while before you decide what needs changing. You don't know quite yet.

What did i do wrong apart from give some suggestions, and even Crow'sia said it was not rude.
You know what i have been nothing but ice and for someone to come along and be so rude to me, i really honestly could go absolutly raving mad at your, i cannot believe you can be so downright cruel and nasty. See its people like you who make role play games a unpleasent experience for people.
That was just horribe to say that about me, you, you infact no i wont rise up to it, but i'm not going to cuss or swear your horrible person.

Yeah, Elle was here way way back when, in the old medieval days of NSE. Its like Curse, are you still new when you rejoin, but after leaving for so long, how can you not be? It's just a grey area.
Don't raise your hackles too high though, eh, Elle. Corpse is just really blunt like that, opinionated and blunt. Just takes some gettin' used to, thats why we luff 'er. XD
Anyway, on topic. It could be appealing to advanced roleplayers, I supose, if they are looking for an advanced site. But couldn't it also intimidate new roleplayers? I'm just trying to look at every angle here.

Fine, but shouldn't you at least ask her not to be so blunt? fair enough, but it does turn people away or cause HUGE arguements because i did really have to bite my tongue.
And i can understand that, but to all people wouldn't they make the board look like effort has been put into them, and make the sight look more 'proffesional' i find it hard to describe what i am saying. I just guess that i have learnt what attracts them, and i figured out bigger descriptions do as it comes across as really clean managed site, where someone has put time into doing it.

Perhaps. But being blunt is not nessicarily a bad thing. It can just get out of hand, like now for example. I do believe it has caused arguements before, most things contraversal do. Kindred's a little harsh too for example, that's why Bayard left (not blaming you, Kinneh, luff!) for good (or so we think). I just find it easier to take it in one's stride, especially when discussing a topic like this. Members are allowed to express their opinions on suggestions, it's just how they go about it. Corpse did not originally say anything wrong, she could have been more polite, yes, but in her opinion swearing is fine (well, the rules say it is too. =D) and people should get a feel for NSE and introduce themselves a little more before suggesting any changes. This is one person's opinion though. I think its how we interpret things, its hard to really get emotions across on the internet. I'm all rambley here, sorry. There's not really anything I can say. Admittablely, I was not cut out to be an admin, because it's not my place to tell people what to do during a squabble, it's their place it figure it out on their own and shove their pride down their throat if they must.

Time does go into the descriptions, even if it doesn't look like it. Sometimes. I wont say that for all of them! Right now I'm just waiting for some more staff peoples to speak up, or even members. If thems reading this. >.> <.< Fwaa, it's good to have multiple opinions.
