Phantom floated along the beach, lost in his own thoughts. The sky was overcast above him. Where was he to go now? He had abandoned his own domain, he had lost sense of where he was or belonged. An unidentifiable feeling surged inside of him...Was it...Could it actually be.....Lonliness? Ever since Samantha died he'd had no will to live, let alone to have companionship. He only longed for her. But could he actually have been craving friendship and relationship of one of his own kind? Phantom shook his dial back and forth, trying to clear his thoughts.
Wind blew through his locks. Rain started falling, slowly at first but growing more and more powerful by the second. Phantom flashed-back to when he was young and humans, along with their troubling situations, were unknown. He remembered running through the fields in the rain, frolicking with his peers and prancing through puddles. He couldn't remember much, but he loved those memories. For a moment..Phantom forgot about his pain and worries. For a moment..he felt free. For a moment.. the Phantom was a colt again, frolicking in the rain. For a moment.. the Phantom was....Himself. With one last playful buck the Phantom galloped down the beach weaving in and out with the ocean.
He didn't know how far or long he'd been running, but the Phantom slowed and came to a stop. The beach was endless and he was exhausted from trying to reach the finish. He dropped to the ground and groaned with delight and he relaxed from his exhilarating run. He knew he probably shouldn't be in such a vulnerable state, but it felt so good. Phantom's auds flicked as he picked up the sound of....What was that? As he wondered about what he had just heard, he picked up the distinct sound of a whinny, and near-by as well. Phantoms heart leaped in excitement, could there be a possible companion nearby? Then he remembered that all the world had brought him so far was pain and depression, why would that suddenly changed? He vaulted himself back to his feet and answered the whinny, the tone slightly unsure but welcoming, he hadn't been this interested in anything since the typhoid struck....Maybe rain does heal the the soul.
