The night had just fallen, casting a blanket of darkness over the trees. While others found this chilling, eerie even, Phantom welcomed the darkness. His silvery gaze roamed up to the sky, to set his sights upon the moon. He stood in silence beneath one of the shining rays of the moon, it's silverness matched only by his eye color. He gave a little grin, satisfied that the night had finally fallen, then continued on his way. Every few paces, the moonlight fell gracefully through the trees and illuminated the stallion. Once he walked out of the light, though, he seemed to disappear, as he blended so well into the night that if you weren't looking for him, you would not even see him. He was enjoying the night, the time of day when he felt most at ease. Nostrils flared as he inhaled the cool night air, which seemed to cleanse his lungs and make him feel like new.
Phantom paused to bask in the silvery light. The nightly dew was beginning to fall, making the air damp and crisp. He adored this time of day. It made him feel more at home in this forest than ever before. The only thing that could make this night better would be a dense fog that he could lose himself in. With the night mist falling, though, it was close enough. He supposed the mists reminded him of home, if he could even call it that. Way back when he and his mother had lived together. It didn't matter that they lived in boggy land, it was home. He closed his eyes against the world, for a moment losing himself with grief. He so wished his mother had not left him to fend or himself. And now, he wished she could see what a strong stallion he had grown into. He looked up to the moon again, idly wondering if his mother might be looking at the same night sky. That thought, at least, was comforting.
Phantom paused in a dark patch of the forest. He bent his neck to munch on a nearby bush. The night was really when Phantom was lively. He slumbered through the morning and midday, waking in the late afternoon, usually. He'd soak up the last hours of day, then reminise every single night at sundown. And then, life went on in the darkness. He liked the night, he didn't feel so lost. Sure, in the day, you could see to pick to the path you wanted to walk down. But what if you didn't know which way you wanted to go? This was Phantom's dilemma. He hadn't the slightest clue where he was going. He was famous for living in the darkness, and many thought his existance a myth, for he was rarely seen by others. [/blockquote]

Double Helix The night air enclosed the world in a heavy mist, the wind playing tricks on unsuspecting victims by blowing the fog around them so that it's imposable to find your way back out. The bright moon glinted in the pitch black sky, but it did nothing to help along the way, only making the thick fog seam thicker. A terrified screech of some small frightened animal sounded eerily in the silence, but if you listened closely, something else could be heard in the air... Hazel coloured frame pounded through the dark, it's composure was harmonious yet had a wild characteristic about it. Orbs flaring, zinniths pricked forward despite the wind fighting to press them backwards. Ebony banner & streamer flowed behind like smoke. The seemingly solid fog seamed to open itself for the crashing of the equines legs, although they seamed to disappear at the knee in the darkness. The thundering hooves drowned out the other sounds in the night, and a spine chilling cry erupted from the dial of the creature. Double Helix smirked, in an equine way. Her pretty frame was strong and sure, with a definite athletic look to it. Her breed originated form a northern country where the winters were bitterly cold and the summers beatuifully warm. This place is known as Canada, which is where her breed is named after, the Canadian Horse. She shook her head vigorously from side to side, kicking up her heels, her ebony streamer lashing with the bucking motion of her hind-quarters. Her banner swirling around her neck she galloped into the night. The femmora slowed as the forest grew much denser her optics flicking in interest. The figure of another equine appeared in the distance, but with another glance that figure was gone. Helix Tossed her head in confusion, but her mind soon forgot it as the moon put her in a sort of spotlight, emitting her frame in the ghostly moon's glow. If any came across her in the dark they would see her gazing up at the stars, with her zinniths listening intently to the noises around her... occ: crapy post, don't have to respond.

Phantom's gaze snapped behind him, his body soon turning to follow. The sound of hooves thundering against the earth had caught his attention, disturbing the serenity of the night he so loved. He narrowed his eyes, waiting for the moon to hit just the right point and fall gracefully through the trees upon her frame. He must admit, he was not disappointed with what he saw. Soon after he appearance, a dense fog began to fill the forest. A perfect night. He remained in the dark, idly thinking about what he wanted to do. He could either disappear into the night, as he was famous for. Or, he could make his presence known once more to the mare. Deciding he was feeling bored, Phantom took a few uneasy steps back into the moonlight pool he stood in moments earlier.
Now in plain sight, Phantom surveyed the mare once more. He was curious, and she didn't seemed to be phased by his closeness when she had sighted him before. He stood tall as he possibly could, his muscles tense. He was taking a risk by revealing himself, but he felt no need to hide. He could sense no others with her, but she did look as though she would find shelter with a herd. He wondered what she was doing out here, but it wasn't his place to ask. Not yet, at least. He didn't want to startle her with words so soon. Although, she didn't look like she would be so easily scared, he observed. But looks weren't everything, so he stayed at a safe distance away, in silence. He could see her, she could see him. It was a tense moment, and it was up to her where it would go next. Phantom was neutral, on everyone's side and nobody's side at the same time. So, it would all depend on how she treated him with her next movement or words.
It seemed ages passed as Phantom stood in the open. He wasn't used to being around other horses, let alone letting himself be spotted by them. And this was voluntary! It was odd behaviour, to say the least. But it was a good night, and he was in a good mood. At least, if she decided to be hostile, there was the dark and the fog to conceal him as he made one of his signature get aways. He was very much at home in the forest, as not many other equines were. Not only that, but he had trained his eyes to be decent in the darkness, having been living in the dark for quite some time. Not only that, but the fog that swirled about comforted him as well. He had made his move, by letting himself be seen. Now, he locked his gaze on hers, letting none of his thougths or emotions show through. It was her turn to decide how she would react. [/blockquote]

ooc: kk will do Double Helix A shooting star flashed across the blackened sky as the hazel coloured femora set her optics upon it. She really had no clue as to what these light were, being an equine and all, and they fascinated her deeply. Her zinniths flicked as the bearly audible sound of hooves was heard and her dial quickly went down to normal level, optics searching. They fell upon the illuminated figure of a steed a ways off. Her first instinct was to go closer and thoroughly investigate, which is way off to what most would do, but something stopped her. Zinniths flicked forward in curiosity, she tossed her head, ebony forelock revealing the star on her forehead. Her optics narrowed slightly as she inspected the equine, trying to analyze weather to make any move at going closer or not. But she was typically board so, noting on his tense stance she padded forward at a lazy walk, her hooves bearly making a noise from the soft ground, her legs were only just visible in the dark, since they turned from the natural hazel of her pelt to a black, starting at the knees. Double Helix kept the eye contact locked as she padded along, her optics curious but her mistrust was clearly visible. She stopped short, about 6 feet away. She kept silent, her dial tilted slightly to the side, her optics sweeping over the stallion's build, taking in his appearance. Her manor was in no means hostile, but he seamed to be completely neutral, not showing anything of any emotions in his composure. She raised her dial, her optics still locked on his. She waited his reaction. occ: sorry for slow post, my internet went hey-wire

(( No worries. )) Phantom noticed that, at first, she didn't seem to realize anything happened. Glancing up towards where her gaze seemed to rest, he saw the tip of a shooting star's silvery tail. Ah, the wonders of this world they lived in. When he returned his gaze to the mare, she had noticed him, though. His shoulderblades tensed together. It was a tense moment, him not being around others much, so it was doubly stressful for the poor stallion. The mare tossed her head, and then, as if out of habit, he mirrored the motion, a white star also becoming visable on his own forehead. He tilted his head ever so slightly, as if he thought it curious that they had the same mark. He allowed his mind to roam for a moment. What if he had siblings and he didn't even know about it? Could it be possible that he roamed the same land as his own blood and would never know? Very curious...
There was not much time to ponder these curious things, though, as he found she was moving nearer in the next moment. He didn't run, for she didn't look hostile in the least. In fact, she kept quite the unrevealing posture, and he respected her for being nearly as secretive as he was about her emotions. Though he could see one thing; mistrust. One wrong move and either she'd be gone, or she'd attack. And he really didn't want that. The mare stopped in another pool of shimmering moonlight a little ways off. So, she seemed just as worried about startling him, as he did her. Phantom relaxed his muscles a little bit, dropping his guard ever so slightly, as a sort of sign. Being such a large equine, he may look threatening keeping his current posture. And he would be the last horse on earth to start a fight. Sure, he'd fight back if he was threatened, but actually start a conflict? That simply wasn't him.
Phantom liked that the female didn't drop her gaze, that showed that she was strong in mind and in heart. He still stood tall, taking her full form in as she was nearer and easier to see now. His nostrils flared as he exhaled hard, his breath visable in the cool night air. The fog twisted delightfully through the trees; it truely was a perfect night, in his humble opinion. Finally, after holding the mare's gaze for quite some time, he decided it was his turn. She didn't seem like one to attack, so he didn't feel threatened in the least. At last, he dropped his head into a shallow bow, and then, his neck curled, making the bow even deeper. He held high respect for mares, unlike most stallions, and believed they deserved to be shown such respect. [/blockquote]

Double Helix She thoguht the mimicking motion of the head toss from the stallion rather odd, but the similar start marking was stranger. Though the thought of sibling never ran through her mind. It wasn't compleatly impossable, but she was her mother's only foal before she died in the claws of a wild cat... or was it a farmers gun? Helix couldn't remember. She didn't even know her father, but him and the herd had been rounded up and taken away; probably to one of the big things the humans went inside a lot. She highly doubted the aspect of siblings. The stallion in front of her seamed to relax a tad bit than his previous stance, which showed that he wasn't going to be any danger to her, not that she would run... at least not right away. But the thing that surprized her most was the ducking of his head and the bow movment he was expressing. Her optics flicked questioningly. She had not sean any stallion do anything like this before a mare, most just beared their teeth and drove a mare forward. Well, aren't we the formal type. She voiced, since it was ovious that the stallion wasn't going to speak unless spoken to, or at least that was the impression she got. She wasn't sure if her speaking woulf make the stallion back off and dissapear, as she had thought she'd seen earlyer.

Phantom shivered a little as the mare spoke. He hadn't been expecting it in the silent night, that was all. But at once, he realized her remark was one filled with humour. He lifted his head, his eyes twinkling with delight. "I suppose you could view it that way." He tossed his head to the side, to remove the long mane from his eyes. He searched her face for a moment, then decidedly gave a nod. It was unexplained, but it came with the inward decision that he had made to make pleasant conversation. His hues scanned the terrain about them. "What brings you out here? Simply enjoying this beautiful night?" He couldn't mask his curiousity. There wasn't usually any out roaming this late, especially not by themselves.
He'd wait for a response before moving on to his next question. He kept eye contact, a look of deep respect held in his eyes. He always acted in this manner towards mares. They were a species to be respected, in his eyes. He had seen the way stallions treated mares, and this only made his respect for them deeper. For all the bull that they took...well, they didn't deserve it, that was for sure. Nobody did. In his opinion, things would work more smoothly if it were mares in power, rather than the big headed stallions that always fancied war. And this showed in the way he interacted with them. Stallions had to give him a reason to respect them, while mares were automatically given his deepest respects.
Phantom took in a deep breath of cool night air, instantly feeling better than he had been earlier. He gave a grin, at least, the best of one a horse can manage. "May I be so bold as to ask your name?" He wait in silence for a moment, then give a light chuckle. "Of course, I'll offer mine first." He held his head high, as he had when she had first spotted him. His eyes sparkled with the prospect of a new friend. "I go by the name of Phantom." He gave a slight nod, as if a weight had been lifted off his chest. "And before you have to ask, I do not belong with any herd." He hoped this wouldn't scare her away. The loners were always weird, weren't they? Or at least, that's how they were viewed. "I'm a peaceful stallion, though, so there's no need to worry." Perhaps that statement would be substantial in convincing her that he would not be a threat. [/blockquote]

ooc: bleh *hits head* compleatly forgot about NSE! *posts* Double Helix Double Helix smiled at the stallion's surpize, She could have a b it of a cruel side to her, she knew that for a fact, but it really only serfaced in desperate times. Now was simply a flicker of one of her many "personalities". She let a small smile cross her muzzle as he spoke, whihc was followed by a brow raising as he seamed to nod his head, as if decideding on somthing. I guess you coud say that. Although,She began, looking around at the thick fog, which masked anything lower than a equine's knees. this fog is kinda pushing it.Her optics notted on the look of respect in his, which made her wonder what kind of herd he came from, considering the fact that some were very odd indeed, she had come aross a few that were just plain bonkers.. but she didn't stay near them for mare than a single night. Double Helix shifted on her feet impatiantly, she was not used to staying in one place for so long, as she was almost always moving somewhere, going to soomthing or running from somthing else. She cocked her head to the side slightly as her spoke again, politely asking her name, but he seamed as if he had more to say before she answered so she kept her mouth closed. Her optics purly amused. Phantom, i guess that goes with the random dissapearence before her minds voice said to her. He said he was a loner, which she liked. Too many horses made her crazy at times, especially the stupid broodmares always moving almost blindly where-ever the stallion, or the lead mare lead them. She laughed at his last statment, as he told her not to worry. Well, Phantom. My calling is Double Helix. And as for being a loaner, thats no problem, so am I. Herds are way overrated. She voiced, it seamed that he thought she would think loaners were wird, which amused her greatly. She shook her head as a firefly buzzed around her zinnith, it's glowing light shown a green hue in the dark background of the night sky. She followed it's course as it flew away till it looked like one of the stars, then she dropped her attention bck to Phantom. She wasn't one for asking alot of questions so she simply waited for him to reply with somthing.
