The heavens had opened. Large crystal like raindrops bounced from the ground at the chestnut mares feet. Some bouncing almost a foot from the ground. The mares coat had been darkened by the rain, her mane plastered to her neck, forelock plastered to her face, getting in the way of her eyes in large clumps, hence the head shaking out of annoyance. The sky was grey, a horrible glum colour which made you want to sink away into the deep forests and keep sheltered and warmer. The open heavens and great downfall was a sign that aututmn would soon be upon them.
The chestnut mare did not seem the least bit pleased as the rain hit her coat, sending a chill and decreasing her body temperature. Her eyes looked dull, the weather effecting all animals caught out by the sudden rupture of the clouds. Her pace picked up to two beats, as the mare trotted futher into the lands, searching for some form of shelter. The only apparent shelter, was that of five trees clumped together in the center, and upon sight of them, the mare broke out into a three beat as she cantered towards it, coming to a skidding stop and a circling trot before a stop. Of course droplets fell to the ground which had become water clogged and each and every time her hoove was placed down, a noise could be heard as the water was pushed back to the surface and her hoove sunk in the soggy grassy ground which would soon turn to mud if more equines were to stumble upon it.
Drip............Drip! Thankfully the rains seemed to be ending, and the shelter of the trees minimised the drops which fell onto her coat, allowing it to begin to dry as her hazel eyes set sight upon the break of blue sky up above in the grey covered sky. Hopefully the rains would sieze and then others would come to these grounds, others in search of a mare to take to their grounds and welcome into their family; their herd. For she was sure that would only happen if the skys were to break. Sniffles could be felt on the nostrils of the mare, the outcome of such a sudden temperature and weather change. So a snort was needed. Her chest rumbled and expanded before her nostrils flared an' she sent out a loud snort into the damp air around her, due flyig from her nostrils an' then a shake of the head sorted it out, wet mane falling infront of her eyes, but the only thing was to ingore it until it dried.
The heavens above decided that after pactically what felt like an eternity of raining it would stop, an' slowly the clouds began to part and the rains were carried away to other lands where poor souls were to get drowned in the water which sometimes did come as a joy, but not today, not for the long traveled female who needed to take in her new surroundings for it seemed that days of travelling might just be over. On the ground were markings of hooves, and the scents of equines could be tasted in the air, they were certainly around.
Soon the rains had stopped, the sky was now recovering and the only clouds in the sky were white fluffy ones, none would ever guess it had just been raining if it wasn't for the wet ground and the drying Mare whos coat by every second was becoming much more vibrant, returning to its usual colour. Her tail had still yet to dry, but her mane had began to seperate from its chunks and now hung loosely once again. For it was now time to step out and take in her new lands.
The mares legs struck the wet ground, the noise still repeating itself with each hoof placed down onto the ground. The mare emerged from the shelter and hiding of the trees and her hazel eyes took within all that these lands had to offer, it did not seem dangerous, but the sudden ending of land in the distance did seem threatening. But her heart did race and her mood did pick up as she saw the green grasses. With nothing other than joy she lunged forward, her long neck arched and her head drove forward as hooves dug into the soggy land and kicked it up as she lunged forward, trotting in a deep circle before stopping and dropping her head. Lips lipped at the green shoots of grass an' then teeth tore at them, tongue sending it into the back of her mouth and her teeth devouring it before swallowing, it had been a long time since she had tasted grass as good as this.
Her ears twitched an' rotated, listening for the sound of another approaching animal, her eyes gazing at just what they could from the position of her head. Her mood had picked up and grown quickly, there was no doubt of that fact. As a green blade of grass tickled at her nose, her chest expanded and quickly returned to its normal type as a sneeze came from her nostrils and mouth, causing her head to be brought up aburtly. Her hind leg twitched, the marking of the WNV. She moved around in another small circle and once again dropped her head hellwards and began to graze upon the grass at her feet, her coat now back to its full radiant colour and attraction. Ears once again rotated, listening for the sound of anything which might be approaching.
