Teheki ____________________________________
AGE Six
GENDER Mare
PERSONALITY erratic, reserved, social, ambitious
Intellectual, calculating, reserved, Teheki is a horse whose natural instincts are restrained by her intelligence. Or so she likes to believe. Still, the mare does display many traits typical of her species, preferring to run from most disturbances than face them unnecessarily. Furthermore, she is relatively skittish and may appear to startle easily, despite her preference to seem calm and collected. All of this is a peculiar contrast, however, to the mare’s love of play and laughter.
Teheki was once incredibly social, although her time alone has made her increasingly solitary. She believed, and continues to believe, that communication and herd bonds are the most important and valued traits of her people, beside their intelligence. As a result of this, Teheki prefers discussion to open conflict and can be markedly expressive in terms of communication. This expressive nature sometimes belies her collected and reserved demeanour, and she wonders sometimes if she might appear erratic.
As an introspective individual, Teheki likes to be aware not only of how others might respond to her behaviour but the implications such behaviour may have on herself. She considers the motives behind her actions closely. This is especially true in regards to her ambitions. Teheki is a highly ambitious individual and considers herself something of a visionary. This ambition, unfortunately, has a tendency to cloud her judgement, and Teheki habitually will become obsessive.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
This scrawny, unremarkable horse is a delightful mix of greys. She has no distinct markings to speak of, but does boast some seriously pale brown eyes. Fifteen hands tall, often with exposed bones and over defined muscles, Teheki sometimes may appear underfed and sickly, and although strong, she is thoroughly unimpressive. What does set this rather unexciting girl apart is her use of body language and facial expression to communicate, all of which Teheki exaggerates.
HISTORY
Born in a land far away to a mare named Catine Scotia and a stallion named Tripola Desn, Teheki came to Night Sky with her brother, looking for adventure. As lives go, Teheki’s had a pretty average one. Her brother and her were close. Together, inventing games and stories of legendary far off places, they were an insatiable pair of adventurous hoodlums.
During one such game, when the pair had wandered a little too far from the herd, Teheki observed a wild cat stalking rabbits, although the poor beast promptly had to abandon its hunt, as the foals thought scaring rabbits would be the more exciting game. Teheki became fascinated with predators, curious as to why such a giant cat had not turned its attention on her or her brother. Little did she know at the time that lynx simply did not hunt for horses.
Several years, many games, and hundreds of close encounters with hungry animals and angry lynxes later, Tripola decided it was time for the two to go, lest he accidentally have a child with his offspring, or the young colt come to challenge him. So the two moved on, brother and sister, on their first real adventure. Along the way, a stallion named Ichabod Crane told them of a marvelous place called Night Sky. When they arrived, Teheki soon lost her brother. She began to travel, searching for him, until she met a horse named Values. Together they had a child, and Teheki’s search has continued, although since the wave she has long lost contact with the stallion who gave her Gertrude.
