I thought it would be ever so deliciously fun to share our writing habits and dependencies, because they tend to be amusing. Those things you return to again and again when lacking inspiration or aren't sure that to write! And what challenges you? What are your trials and tribulations? What is easy?
For instance. I have found that on average, I can spit out 330-400 words roleplaying before I feel I'm rambling and start cutting. (Which funnily, is the same amount of words I can write for NaNoWriMo before I start hating myself =O).
Whether personal writing or roleplay, I have to work not to keep going back to the weather patterns, or to my character's ear movements with horses. I find it ridiculously hard to write out character actions because in general, conversations are pretty still and I'm pretty unskilled at describing mood and atmosphere effectively, practice, practice.
Finally, the hardest thing for me is advancing a story while keeping in character. How depressing it is to have an idea and have your character go 'Nooo! I was not developed this way. Develop me more, then do it.'
Alas, I think Trisk eating his comrades might become a repetition of mine on the scale of weather.
And overall, I notice in roleplays the first three posts of a new thread consisting of greetings is common too. This makes sense, but a different kind of start would probably be strange and challenging. I must make an effort for it! =O
Sound off! What are your failings or successes? =D
Edit! Oh and inspired by Fuléao's excitement, what kind of scenes get you all riled up to reply!

Let's see...I think the hardest time I have is fluently switching between characters. Especially when all of them have active threads. I have to have each character in a certain format otherwise they will all start blending into the same character. I also vigorously use the preview option before actually posting a reply.
Generally, if I am having muse trouble, I find that I am lucky to hit about the 150-200 word mark - which tends to be my lowest point. Everything I am going through in the writing help thread are my absolute basic writings.
I have not written for several years before I recently came back to NSE, and found my muse and writing horribly out of shape..for any sort of writing. I am pleased to find that my typical post is starting to average about 350-ish words - though when the muse is running, more.
Crow, I also like your concept of starting a thread different than just greetings and "how are you"s It would indeed be a challenging thing to do!
