NAGISA ____________________________________
AGE Five
GENDER Female
PERSONALITY Nagisa talks a lot, and does so with little regard for grammar and the rules of society. She's audacious and uncultured, and sometimes you'd wonder if she takes anything seriously. She doesn't have much discernment about what one should and shouldn't say.
That's not to say she's malicious. It's just the way she was raised, and it hasn't really occurred to her that people might actually be upset if she pokes fun at their flaws. Despite her comments that seem meant to tear down, she's a very warm and affectionate mare. She takes an instant liking to almost everyone, and very much wants to be loved back. In fact, she tends to care a little too much about what others think of her. One could say she has a bit of an inferiority complex. Strangers make her feel awkward, which is part of the reason she's so garrulous. And while she is largely impervious to insults, it is possible to upset her. It doesn't help that she would never let on about these feelings. She grew up being told she almost never had the right to complain about anything, and so it has become ingrained in her. Though she appears to share every single thought that marches across her mind, she keeps her negative feelings to herself.
Don't worry too much about upsetting her, though. She's tough, and can usually brush things off. More often she's cheerful and brimming with enthusiasm, to the point that she may seem a little cracked. Everything amuses her. She's curious and observant, and takes pleasure in the little things. Lighthearted and playful, she doesn't worry much about what the future may bring.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION Quarab ancestry worked out pretty well for Nagisa. Her frame is a little stocky, yet elegant, standing 14.1 hands. The soft, lackluster pelt that covers said frame is grey. White blotches her stomach, fading out on her sides. She is further marked by a blaze running down her dished face, and white stockings on all four of her long legs. Her ears are small and well-shaped; the warm brown of her bright eyes matches her personality well. She has a deep chest, wide nostrils, and long legs, perfect for such a high-energy mare. She isn't extraordinarily fast, but she moves with grace and vivacity that is beautiful to watch. image
HISTORY Nagisa's homeland was rough; a desolate badlands with wild weather, difficult terrain, and a lack of resources. In the past, weaker stallions had been chased here from less desirable territory. They adapted, bringing in mares and keeping them where their enemies wouldn't come. A few generations later, Nagisa was just one of their countless descendants. The horses she grew up among were rough and uncultured, but they knew how to stay alive. It was a large herd; her father was beta, and had three mares of his own. Her childhood was pretty ordinary; she spent her days with the other foals, playing, learning, and surviving.
Three years went by, and she was old enough to catch the attention of young, ambitious stallions that came around looking to steal their first mare. The first colt that approached her was quickly run off by the lead stallion, who wanted to keep the younger mares around for his son. The next suitor managed to stay longer, but had his hopes similarly dashed. But what little wooing he'd gotten in had Nagisa smitten with him. Once the lead stallion's attention was elsewhere, the young mare slipped off after the stranger. He was glad to have her, and for a while it seemed like they would live out the rest of their days together, madly in love.
Again, time wore on. Other mares were added to the band. Romulus slowly fell out of love with Nagisa; she only fell in deeper. When the naive girl finally noticed what was happening, she first told herself she was just being paranoid and clingy. But that too eventually faded, and she just lived with it. She began to avoid him, and they drifted apart. Even when it became painfully obvious that Romulus had no interest in her, Nagisa couldn't bring herself to confront him. Finally she just up and left, figuring he would be happier that way.
