GENDER Stallion
PERSONALITY The phrase, "He's a lover not a fighter." Is totally accurate with Rhys. On a few occasions he's had mares that were content to follow him in his timeless travels and call themselves his heard. He could careless though. He lives in one moment of passion to the next. Ever the charmer, he enjoys convincing mares to couple with him, and once they're foaled he is finished with his job. The mares are more than welcome to follow him, and he'll never be cruel and rarely is he cold towards them but he rarely shares true love with anyone. As a matter of fact he never has felt true love, and that doesn't seem to bother him a bit. He will not fight for territory, but if the lead stallion gets careless, he attempt to come in and breed with a mare or two, perfectly content to run away before the other stallion has even noticed him. He doesn't leave a trace as he travels, and prefers to stay where others will not feel the need to seek him out...unless it's a mare. He's more than happy to talk and be kind, even sensitive to the needs of a mare, but as a down fall he's been tricked a time or two. Although he is very bright and intelligent, no one is perfect and his intense lustful desires can be his downfall. That and the fact he despises to fight another stallion or mare a like. Another poor quality is he doesn't like foals at all. He's more than happy to cast them away from him or ignore them completely, he doesn't let mares know that before he breeds them. He's quite an acomplished liar.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION Breed: Paso Fino Height: 16.2 A tall black stallion. Moves with ease but powerful ground covering strides. However he's an elusive stallion, and moves lightly and quietly. His eyes are rather large and brown. They have an oval like shape to them and are set fairly (but not abnormally) high on his flat forehead. His nostrils are large and round, almost circular. A larger jaw that is straight down to a medium sized muzzle, not over defined but sophisticated. His neck is thick and so is his mane and tail. His tail has a little natural wave to it. The muscles on him are large and rounded, showing off his strength. His chestnuts are a lighter color, almost white, which annoys him greatly. His coat is thin and gleams against the sun. Very good skin, never had any problems with that.
HISTORY Rhys was born in Spain, on a sucessful and high profit paso fino ranch. The horses bred and sold there usually grew up to be bull fighting horses, or farm horses, for the show offy rich type of people who didn't really know anything about farming and simply wanted to ride through the crops and watch others work. For the fist three years of his life he was left out to pasture. Not a little paddoc where you could see the people and other horses. No he was in a huge 337 feild with about 43 other horses, living wild on the spanish country side. In essence he was a wild horse, simply a contained one. He lived with a group of other young males, but was one of three that was not castrated. No he was to be a breeding horse, and at three years of age a group of men collected him from the feild and brought him up to a smaller, 10 acher pasture where he could be easily given a female to mate with. Oh and he did mate. The first year only 3 or 4 females, not that he could remember. However when he turned four his rates went up because of a new profession. A bull fighting horse. While he was never happy with humans anywhere near him, the thrill of the ring, dodging those awful beasts and charging at them facinated him. He was sucessful and a bit cocky. Sure he got knicked a few times but it was worth it. Apperantly not to the riders though. No matter how much they restrained him, he couldn't be stopped from charging and dodging the bull when HE wanted, and after a very sucessful year, he was retired to the stud barn. Having time to reflect on the past year of his life, the now five year old stallion had lost all taste for fighting, and realised how foolish it was. He dreamt of the days he'd spent running out free in the feilds, yet he loved the feel of the mares they brought to him. A few months after being taken to the stud barn he was sold to a man in Mexico with a large farm and not long after the catyclisum came. Everyone and every thing was destroyed, but he had lived, unscaved and none the lesser. He's a traveler now and at six years old finally a free stallion. Deciding the path he'd love to take, breeding mares, and continuing his travels, seeing the world and experiancing it all. Yes, he was done fighting, that foolish year of running around with a metal peice stuck in his mouth, charging after a bull burnt all desire to be so hot headed. Brains over bronze is how he lives his life now. Still cocky, and getting wiser every day. Keep your mares close, he's always around the corner.
OTHER Meaning/origin: Old Welsh name meaning "heat of passion"
