Maria

AGE Eight
GENDER Mare
PERSONALITY Maria is a very motherly mare and will always try and take care of whoever needs to be taken care of (even if they don’t know it yet). She has an amazing amount of patience for anyone and everyone and she will very, very rarely lose her temper. It’s only happened once in her entire life. However, when she did lose her temper she really lost her temper. It’s the only time she’d ever nipped someone and she doesn’t plan on repeating it anytime soon. That doesn’t mean Maria is afraid to lay down the law! If she thinks you’re doing something wrong she will very calmly tell you what you’re doing wrong and gently try to correct you so that you’re on the right path. She believes gentle words are much more affective than nips and kicks. Maria is generally a very likable mare because she is so gentle and has a terrible soft spot for foals. She’s had a few of her own who are now grown up though her life is far from over and she knows she will probably end up having more. She feels that it is her duty to, and she loves foals so she has never really complained about it.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION Maria looks every inch of the Haflinger that she is with her chestnut coloured coat that is really very nice and rich, her mane and tail of course are flaxen. Her legs are white below the knees though it blends with the rest of her coat so they do not look harsh. She has a white star on her forehead. Of course, as with many motherly types, she’s eaten perhaps a little bit too much grass and has a little extra around the sides but she pulls off the look very well. She is not especially chubby just a little bit overweight. She is smaller than others of her breed at 13.1hh but she doesn’t mind at all, she’s not fazed much by bigger horses either. Maria pulls off her height pretty well but the little bit extra round her middle probably makes her look a little on the squat side. She finds no issue with this however since she’s not a mare so caught up on looks.
HISTORY Maria was born into a herd and was of course pushed out when she turned two. She then moved into another herd and spent her time there for the past six years before her herd disbanded after the lead stallion died and no other stallion was around to step in. She found the circumstances quite odd but merely moved away from the herd to somewhere that she would find another herd. Where she spent her time, everyone else seemed to be about her height. Understandably she was a little thrown at first at the size of some horses but she’s open-minded and accepting of those not quite like her so she has settled here instead. Not much fazes this mare.
