GENDER Mare
PERSONALITY Friendly, Intelligent, Caring, Outgoing, Fiery, Daring, Witty
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION Ember is a reddish chestnut mare who stands fifteen hands high and is of Mustang heritage. Her mane and tail are a slightly lighter shade and fade to a flaxen colour at the tips. Both are long and flowing, but surprisingly silky for a wild horse. She has a blaze and four stockings, all of her hooves are pale with a light pinkish tinge. She has one deep coffee brown eye and an icy blue one due to her facial marking.
HISTORY Ember was born into a small herd who had made their home on the slopes of what would of been a perilous place to most horses. But growing up here the filly learned that agility was the key to her survival. Predators in the area didn't help the chances of survival for a youngster, and Ember saw others in the herd fall as prey. But somehow, against the odds, she pulled through to her first birthday. As a filly she remained with the herd, her mother was lead mare and very watchful of her foal as she had already lost one to a wolf attack the previous year. Although she was never ''wrapped in cotton wool'' Ember's mother never let the filly get too far from her sight. In the early years, the other foals took to teasing Ember because of her mismatched eyes. She ignored the name-calling for most of the time until one day she finally snapped at one of the offending colts. She sent her teeth right into his ear and bit clean through, much to her surprise. As the lead mare's daughter she was punished greatly for this, so as to make an example to others. But after that incident, the bullying stopped, and Ember even became friends with the colt she'd bitten. Life was more or less uneventful until she was two years old.
The herd had moved down to the pastures at the base of the slopes and it was early spring. This was when Ember's father told her she was now ready to leave the herd, that she was now an adult. Ember was unsure to begin with, but another yearling from the herd would be leaving as well, so the two decided to journey together. They said goodbyes to the herd, and Ember promised her family she would come back in the future to see them again. With that she and the other filly set off on to the plains to begin their new lives. Along the way, the other filly met a stallion and he offered them both a home in his herd. Both decided to join him, and they ran with the male for a year. During her third year of life Ember's life was disrupted again. A small group of bachelor stallions came into her herd leader’s territory, and attempted to steal some of his mares. In the commotion, Ember became separated from the herd and found herself lost in a forest. She was forced to move on in fear the bachelor band would return, so she set off alone this time, in search of what she hoped would be a more permanent home.
