Rei is a withdrawn horse, quite sad, and dwells on things of the past. Very polite, but devious, she enjoys causing other's pain and suffering, just like she has been caused. Underneath all of that her true self is the remnance of a bold mare who had once been gentle, and could possibly be gentle again. Very outspoken.

Breed: She could be called an American Bashkir Curly but not by breed standard since she is wild and only decended from wild horses.
Coat: Thick cremello curls.

Bone structure:Like all curlies she is thick boned, with fairly straight and blunt lines. A short back, but that is a charactoristic of the breed.

HISTORY

Rei was born to a wild herd out of Wyoming and from the day she was born, she knew she was different. While most of the mares stayed huddled in a large group, bossing their foals around by their side, Rei went looking for adventure. The other foals didn't like her anyway.They didn't look like her, she was...weird. Just like her mother. Her father too. She wasn't sired by the herd's lead stallion, her mother had wondered off because she'd been spooked in a storm, and she bred the stallion that helped her go home... it was a wonder the lead didn't kill the both of them. As she grew, the looks became more evidant, even as some of the curls faded a bit. Comments were shared. Rei was hurt deeply by their exclusion. The sire of the herd refused to breed her because of her mothers "betrayal" and didn't want to breed a stuborn line of mares in his herd. At five years old she left, she would be a mother if it killed her, and it almost did. She found a stallion who did his job and left her to fend for herself. One night by the stream she was attacked by wolves. A pack of nine came at her with ruthless intent. She fought them and they retreated, leaving a bloody mare hanging onto life. She'd been 7 months pregnant, and two days after the attack, her child was born. Dead. And while she lay there recovering from the birth the wolves came to her again, took the foal, and ate it in plain sight of her. Now perhaps it was adrinaline, but what ever the cause Rei made it to her feet and trampled them. All of them. She found it made her happy, the pain was less. After the event she was too scared... no one wanted a mare like that. So she hated and still hates wolves, along with most horses. Stallions because they've failed, rejected and been cruel to her. Mares because they were always cold to her, called her names, even her own mother had looked at her with shame. They'd all hated her why not return such a favor? If she lives with pain... so will they.

OTHER
Name is Japanese and means many things. Can mean "Zero, or nothing" which applies to her. It can also mean "Soul or spirit" like her white as a ghost coat and the feeling that she is no longer the horse she was born to be... only a ghost of her. At birth she was named DESDEMONA or "poor starred" because she was conceved in winter when the stars were considered 'wrong' for having children.
