This is a feedback thread where we can share our ideas. I feel NSE is a community effort. Members are just as important to the evolution of the site as administration. We're all equal really, except that sometimes me and Vin and Caity now have to mention something like 'No horsie wings on NSE '
If you'd like to see changes to the rules or boards or codes, or anything on site (including how administration goes about things, I'm always learning), this is a time to suggest them.
First, Hades suggested some interesting ideas, some of which aren't on NSE because I opened with the intention to be very freeform and some of which I wasn't cool enough to think up myself! =D
One idea in particular is to start a member of the moment event. There could be awards for this, although I struggle to think of some! (: Apart from shiny banners and glory. ;D
Next was on-site currency which has become popular these days, but likewise, I am at a loss of what in character and out of character treats to offer. (Unless we implement the next idea, in which case that could tie in, but might be less fun to)
The Character Directory will be updated this weekend. I have been inspired by Morrowind and D&D (yes!) to experiment on site with experience points, so to speak, which would determine how strong a character is, if they might win a fight, how fast they might recover. In character experiences and the like would give 'level ups' so to speak. This would be recorded in the Character Directory.
As an extension of that idea and the little used health status, I was also considering if it might be fun to experiment with aging and death. This would mean that characters can get sick and can die if a player makes the 'wrong' choices, and also that we slowly get older. In this way players wouldn't always have 100% control over their character's life, which might add a bit of mystery. I worry that such a thing would take away from our freeform and open environment, or be just plain unlikable, but it also might be a bit different to try out. Of course, we wouldn't be arbitrarily killing off characters, it would be more like if a bear took a swipe at you and you didn't take proper precautions, you might now limp forever or die of infection.
Finally, is the reintroduction of NPC's, as with Skraelinga's 'Hunters', which will be occurring in the near near future. I'll be posting up information about that too. (: If anyone would like to create a non-player-character (these are characters anyone can control in game), then that will also be available in the future. They'll have their own mini biographies.
Thanks for reading!

I love the idea of the experiment points..and the aging and death. that is one thing that I always had a bit of an issue with, was that no matter how long a horse lived. I had Vinny for years before I finally just decided that I really couldn't do much with him anymore, because there were constant generational changes, and such. It would definitely add a much more realistic aspect to the game, and also might encourage to RP more because their character won't be alive forever or as long as they want. Domestic horses can live to be old - 30s and 40s are really old - but realistically wild horses are lucky to make it to 10.
As for the NPC, they add a totally different dimension to the idea of RPing. Part of this helps us, right now because there are so few of us actively responding on a consistent, and regular basis. I think this is a great idea, especially for the few of us that really are here where there may be only two or three people responding in a thread.

Glad you like it, Vin! Aging will also beg the question if it would be better to change game time from the 1:1 ratio with real time it currently has, to something more manageable, so that we all age at some point in our rp careers.

Yeah, the only way to have realistic aging we would have to change the 1:1 ratio...otherwise plots wouldn't necessarily make sense, or people would have to RP for years in order to meet the ratio.. x.x
