Mairead (pronounced meh-raid)
____________________________________
AGE 3 years
GENDER filly
PERSONALITY Eccentric, shes what you may call scatter brained. She is usually very drastic about things and can be overly excitable. Aside from that she is a clever, usually shy at first, creature.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION she has a broad over all build with sturdy joints but with contrasting slender leg and facial structure, allowing her a still feminine appearance aside from her generally heavily built ancestry. She has a chestnut coat with flaxen mane and tail and minimal splash markings on her legs and face including eye marks, a snip, and both front leg stockings. Also due to the splash gene she has the hallmark blue eyes.
HISTORY As a foal, Mairead was raised wandering the hills with a group of travelers (as they called themselves). She was born to a young mare with long dark main and feathered leg, her mother was bay in color and had dapples that only shone in the morning sun. Her father was tall and lean in contrast, with a coat the color of the harvest moon. He told her stories of his life before escape, of the creatures that bound his head in a bridle and gagged him sick with their bits and squeezed the air from his lungs with girths and saddles. And of how they taught him to fly. It was actually jumping but the higher the jump the more it felt as though wings would sprout from his shoulders and he'd soar away from them. He also told of how that helped him escape, and when the life of grazing and napping in the sun ended, and those creatures rounded them up and put them on ships and sent them to the sea it had helped Mairead... During a storm she had broken free of her handler as they were moving the horses down out of the torrent. She ran around hoping to find release, none came till she saw the high wall of the boat. With her fathers wings on her mind she cleared it with ease and fell into the cold black ocean. She awoke from soggy nightmares on a white beach, half in the waning tide. She called out for her mother, and when no answer came she felt empty and rotten inside realizing she left them, and that she'd never see them again.
