In the pale desert, the wind whipped the fine grains into a sandstorm, turning it into a whirling, blistering storm twisting it's way across the rolling land. And before the massive column of sand, a black speck pounded across the dunes. A massive ebony colored stallion raced the wind, letting the chips of stone scour his pelt. The storm roared behind his tail, threatening to swallow him whole, his only reply was to arch his neck and add more power to his limbs.
Eventually he veered off, slowing to watch the cyclone whirl off into the distance. Wrath shook his dark pelt, sending small flecks of blood spattering to ground. He was covered in small, stinging cuts from the biting sand but they hurt him not, he brushed off the wounds like they were fly bites. He gazed around the desert, gaining his bearings, before trotting to the wet. He could smell faint spores of the herd that resided.
He paused again, his head whirling around, ears pricked. He could hear hoof beats pounding against the ground in a steady tattoo. A white mare approached, loping over the sand in long easy strides. She raised her head as she reached his side eying him with an amused air.
What did I tell you about running with those things? Her light tenor voice seemed to float on the winds. Don't you remember? I'm fast but not that fast. Father told you to look after me, not to run ahead and jump around like a little foal. Wrath snorted disdainfully, setting off walking again. he mare followed at his side, matching her strides with his.
It's not my fault your slow Envy. And Pride only sent me with you, that doesn't mean I have to protect you. They both walked silently for minutes, Envy staring huffily at the horizon. She twitched her tail irritably at her quiet brother before breaking into speech again.
Where is this herd anyways. She stared around the desert like dignified queen. Wrath sighed, they sooner they found this place the better.
I do not know where the herd is Envy, we'll find it when we find it.
