In the dark, desolate lands of falling ash and suffocating snow, the dying sun painted its crimson shade across the sky, losing its battle once more to night as its blood poured thickly across the horizon. The death of the day bowed for mercy under the dark clock of the nocturnal ruler, pleading to end the red massacre that was the taunting, sinister sky. Down; down sunk the fiery eye of the sun, sleeping in its dark death beneath the menacing, towering mountains in the distance. Slowly retreating, slowly sinking to bed with its mistress Dawn - it was sunset. Snow fell lazily from the battle of the sky, as if the dark, inky clouds had been torn to shreds though night's blades, as if the night began its grueling torture, slowly cutting, slowly consuming. Wind howled in agony, singing a lone, sorrowful solo, crying for others to join his voice, pleading for recognition and glory. But there was only death....that's right. She felt death, in all its cold, numb glory, forever safely embraced by shadowed arms. No one will find her here, no one will touch and breath through the suffocating snow...
Of course, Kiari imagined the snow. This was summer, the blasted season that the fae hated with a passion.
But many things had come to pass. Time had slipped by, lost to the obscurity of the past, a mingling of memories bitter and sweet. A new start...the phrase was refreshing. Ah, yes. A new home, untainted by the presence of others...or so Kiari thought. Her velvet twitched, delicatly took in the oxygen and sifted through the scents to search for the musky odor of another equine. Many practices assisted in fine-tuning her scenting abilities, but even so Kiari could not pick up any presence of foriegn creatures.
Around her the world was still, veiled in a shimmering transparent mist that curled about Kiari's lithe physique as she stood apon the golden sand. The light shh of the waves breaking apon the beach lulled her, and she felt at peace for a fraction of a second. The curtain of fog shifted lightly with the faint breeze and as the floresent sunset broke over the distant mountain ranges a golden stream of light- a desperate flash of dying light- settled on her ebon blanket. Her pelt dripped water, and like molten gold it shimmered across her feminine contours, her obsidian coat soaking up the rays as it glittered and shone.
As the sun slowly sunk before the slight rise and its fingers of light began to retreat, Kiari allowed her pale yellow eyes to sweep across the land that unfurled from beneath her daggers; her wanted home.
And then, the light vanished. It was over. Kiari was nearly invisible in the shadows of the inky sea, and with a quick shake of her bulk, she continued up a rise of sand.
