Blue waves crashed against the shores, the shifting every time. Out a little piece the waves seamed un broken by anything, until a red bay head broke the surface. Snorting, Jinx's Hooves dug into the sand below him. Zinniths flicked backward to avoid the water surging into them. Jinx pounded across the surf, the waves crashing over his back, turning his red bay coat to a chocolate brown.
As the stallion sounded out of the water he whipped his tail around, sending water droplets flying everywhere. Jinx shook , almost like a dog, shaking the water from his coat, it would take only a little while for the hot sun to dry his coat. With his head held high, the sand shifting under his feet, he set off at a thundering gallop, he was used to the sand footing for he had spent some time living on a beach before so he was surefooted on the surface.
As he came to a large cove like area, Jinx slowed to a trot then a walk his orbs searching the area, there were hoof-prints in the sand so it was clear that someone had been here. Jinx stopped head held high zinniths pricked and a wild fire in his eyes. He raised his harks attacking the air with his hooves, Jinx let out a powerful challenging neigh. His call ringing loudly through the area. He pawed the sand sending it flying. He waited impatiently for someone to come.

apollos i'm not here for the party...
As the days grew longer and colder, Apollos became older with knowledge on how to take care of a land. Nay, he had no mares to learn how to take care of yet with a land, but the time will come. One step at a time, he figured. He was challenged a while back by a monster of a horse, and though he remembers none of the fight but the beginning, he still won. He still stood tall upon his beautiful isle. But enough of that, let's see what he's doing now.
The leaves under his feet crunched with frost, winter had reached it's freezing fingers out to his land and he needed to find mares to fill his land. He needed them, not for power, but for himself. Without a fellow companion to have in winter, a horse could freeze to death with only his own body heat to keep him warm. These thoughts filled his young head, as he trodded on through the trees. The sun occasionally breaking through the branches and shining down golden upon his black body. He was starting to fill into proportion; his neck lengthening out with muscles and his rump getting rounder. Even his face started to moud with the hard features of a Friesian. His kind brown eyes were just like Windagos', as they seemed lost and confused as he was in this world. His mane was slightly longer, and the locks of black were starting to wave down his neck. He seemed lost in a trance, trying to figure out what was best for the land, and if he would ever find mares that would be willing to join him.
His mind was snapped back to reality when a cry rang through his trees. His black tuffed ears pricked to catch the note of the cry; in which they pinned back after hearing the challenge. Yet another had wandered upon these lands of beauty and mystery that Apollos had grown up on, and decided to challenge the young steed to a fight for it. Apollos didn't like fighting, he had only done it once, and already he didn't want to have to do it again. But, he loved his home; the home he grew up on, and still was growing up on. His memories were all here, the last ones with his father, too. Plus, Apollos had never gone to the land outside of the island; he was always told he was too young to swim to the other land. One day soon Apollos would be forced to go to find mares. But this was not now.
His eyes grew cold as he raised his chin to send a respond to the challenge, not quite deep; but it was enough. Apollos wasn't very old; for he was still growing. Life had it in for him. He plundged forward on the hard ground and he set a gentle gallop to the beach, were he knew he would find the challenger. The ground became sandier underneath his talons, and the trees came fewer and the sun came brighter as he came from the forest. He soon saw the steed that came to battle; his eyes easily adjusting to the glare of the sun he was used to. He easily galloped to the stallion through the sand, shifting his weight from side to side until he stood before the other stallion. Apollos was tall and somewhat lanky, for his muscles were starting to grow, he was merely a teenager in human terms. But he shouldn't be underestemated because he didn't look to strong yet. He dipped his crown elegantly like he had seen his father do so many times before in a fight. Honor, Friesians had much of that.

OOC; Alright. I'll be one of the people to judge this, and maybe we'll find someone else. According to the new rules ya'll have three days to respond after a post, unless something crazy happens (as it were, Meg, have things cooled down a bit? :/ ). Because challenges have really been keeping the herds in the parking lot so to speak, I'm going to request three posts each? Is that alright?

ooc: three posts sound good to me. ^_^ (though i'll have to do some more looking up on how horses fight, cause i do alot of wolf rpgs lol.)
Jinx'z zinniths were laid back in warning, for even though he was a kind fellow most of the time, he was very tempermentle. He eyed the stallion that came through the brush, he was a tall lanky thing, though quite young. Jinx's muscles rippled under his red bay hide. He too diped his head down, he had no problem begining a challange with honor.
Jinx flung his head up after a few minuets though, his orbs watching fo any sign of a wakness in the younger stallion, Jinx had battled his father for the hone herd and had lost, and in turn, Jinx had run. His father had a large territory, and there weren't very many places exept the valley where the herd lived to go to, so Jinx had left. Now he was going to battle again, but this stallion was not his father, so he maybe had a chance. He didn' underestimate the youngster. Jinx slowly advanced on him, ready for almost anything.

apollos i'm not here for the party...
Apollos stood before the red bay steed, and smiled at the responding dip of honor. Lowering his dial to his chest, he protected the precious veins in his throat. Pawing at the sand, he stood still, waiting for his apponent to take the first move. His father had always told him never to strike until the other had done so first. He ran his chocolate colored eyes over the steed, taking in his appearence. The steed slowly started to advance him; taking in check with what the steed was doing, Apollos quickly took a step the side. Away from the direct front of the steed, he was now pretty much side by side with the other stallion. Apollos felt adrinaline pounding in his ears, driving him insane until he reared forward. He didn't strike, he just filled in the gap that was between them to get the show on the road.
He waited, keeping his dial pressed to his chest. His thoughts were on nothing but this battle. He must keep his home. Whipping his long banner out, he tried the lash the other stallion in the face with it, to anger him into attacking first. Apollos; young, tall, lanky, and handsome were words to fit him. He looked like a mere pretty boy, but he wasn't. He was very much like his father, and he used his mind. The last time he brought down a steed, he used the forces of nature to help him. The sun was to the side of them. Apollos took this into his mind, he would use it later. He moved his talons easily in the sand. He whipped up his hind talons in a slight buck, tossing sand into the wind that was blowing towards the steed's face. Maybe it would blind the steed, Apollos couldn't tell this, but he waited. When would the other steed put his pawn into the game and start war?

ooc: lol, i've done worse *_* lol.
Jinx, followed the stallion with his eyes, keeping him in sight. He Snorted angrily at the whipping of the other stalli's mane in his face, he ducked his head down to protect his throat. As the sand pelted on Jinx's face, he reared up keeping his throat protected, hoping to crash down on the other stallions back, his hooves pawed th air furiously. He never thought that maybe it wasn't a good idea for him to start the battle, so he did anyways. Zinniths pressed back flat against his neak, orbs blazing his mouth was held a-gape, ready to give a nasty nip, he towered over the younger stalli, still on all fours, at this rate it would be almost easyer to knock Jinx off balance than to face his falshing hooves, but he would never tell that to someone who didn't know it, and who he was battling. Jinx let out a squel of impatiants and rage.

apollos i'm not here for the party...
Apollos heard the angry snort he had forced from the other's chest from the antagonizing whipping of his banner. His kissers pressed together as he had done exactly what he had wanted to do; angered the other steed. He watched from the corner of his eye as the stallion seemed to take his cue to protect his neck, as the other ducked his crown down to his chest. The sand, sure enough, was blown into the other's face; forcing him to rear into attack. Apollos watched the other steed rear above him, his hooves thrashing above Apollos's crown. Ducking beneth the flailing hooves he took his move, his kissers peeled back to expose pearly white ivories as he reached out for the soft underbelly of the other stallion. He felt the other's talons fall upon his back and slide down, scraping his skin; and blood oozed gently to the surface of his fur. It was a stinging pain that made Apollos want to reach back and nip at the wound, but he didn't.
Still beneth the reared steed, he shoved his shoulder into the other's barrel; his ivories flashing in the sun to get at the exposed belly. His hind talons whipped up from under him and to the side, as he bucked out towards the steed. He was attempting to either strike the fool, or force him to turn his dial into the direct sunlight, to be momentarialy blinded. Apollos neither cared which action took place, as long as he could get this steed played. This land was his home, and nothing could take that from Apollos, not yet. He was too young to give up all these memories to some fool that thought he could walk in and take everything from him. "Not on my watch," Apollos thought. His eyes were shining with the adrinaline that pumped through his veins, his auds pinned against his crown, that was stretched out; reaching for skin.

ooc: hope i'm not takin' to long with this lol.
Jinx's mouth formed in a sort of smile as his hooves struck the young stalli, but as he crashed down on the steed his teeth grazed Jinx's soft under belly. Jinx screamed as the skin peeled back, blood oozing from the wound. When he came down on all fours once more he whipped around, he felt the younger stalli's teeth graze is lower side once more, then heard the whurring sound of the steed's hooves flying through the air towards him. They struck his shoulder, leaving a small gash on it.
Jinx returned with a quick dash to the other side of his apponent, wheaither or not he would turn too, Jinx did not know, he only hoped that as he aimed a vicous bit towards the younger steed neak that maybe it would hit, though he quickly spun and sent his rear hooves flying towards the steed.

apollos i'm not here for the party...
Apollos heard the scream leave the stallion's lips, and he felt the chunk of skin mixed with blood in his mouth. Curling his kissers back more, he spat the chuck of skin out, hating the iron taste of blood on his tongue. Running his teeth down his tongue, he tried to clear the taste out; but he quickly forgot about it as his opponent came down on all fours again and he scraped another patch of fur from the steeds underside. He was amazed at his own strength at the moment, as he bucked out towards the steed; trying to force him to turn and be blinded by the sun, but instead he felt his hind talons hit flesh and tear a gash into his shoulder. His plan hadn't worked like he wanted it to, but he still had flesh torn. His back still stung from where the steed had scraped the fur, the blood drying around the wound.
Apollos was aware of what was going on around him as he heard the quick patter of the steed turning around to his other side. Sand was stirred around Apollos's ankles as he followed, not willing to lose sight of the other stallion. As he did so, he caught the glimpse of the other stallion reaching out to bite his neck, and he quickly swung his dial away; the other steed's ivories sinking into his shoulder instead. He grunted and reared up, swinging his talons out towards the steed's crown, as the other steed quickly spun and sent his hind talons out towards him. Apollos bunched his muscles up in his hind legs, leaping forward and back onto all fours. Turning back to the other steed, he attempted to throw all of his weight into the other's side; his hind talons clipping up to try to meet the underside of the other steed's belly. His kissers peeled back and his ivories clicking as he reached for something to grab onto; tressels or skin, he didn't care which.
An angry squeal sounded through his maw as the wound on his back was ripped back open from a movement he did, and blood ran down his side again. Anger flashed through his skull as he drove more power into his attacks. Soon he was just trying to knock the steed off his feet so he could stomp on him. His hind talons still reaching up to try and kiss the other's belly and his ivories clicking at the other's neck. He still attempted to slam his whole weight into the other's side; his eyes were changed from the calm, gentle look to a look of pure rage. Why must his father leave him at such a young age to protect these lands? He hated it. This was his home though, and he was willing to die for it.

ooc: lol, i guess we will.
Jinx saw the shadow of the other stalli, rising up above his head, he dashed acrose the sand to avoid the steeds flying hooves, nerrowly missing them on his back. But as he came back to a stand still he was shoved over, though he quickly roled over thrashing his hooves up to hopefully get at the steeds's underbelly.
He rocketed back onto his feet, the steed's teeth came at him, grabing onto the maned area of his neak. He let out a powerful scream as the blood ran down his neck. Jinx thrashed wildly, half rearing, and striking out with his hooves, he reached his head out his teeth clacking to catch hold of the steed's neck, the cuts from the other attacks rubbing against his aponanats body, causing pain to course through his body.
His anger coursed through his vains as adrenilen, he shoved his weight over to try to push the stalli off, to maybe fall ontop of him. He was definetly not giving up without all his effort, his anger flashed acrosse his face, as his tail lashed out like a whip, his ears pinned flat against his neak, and his angry screames sounding loudly.

apollos i'm not here for the party...
He had knocked the other off his feet, and he watched as the stallion rolled over the sand and quickly back onto his feet; just as Apollos slammed forward; grasping the steed's tressels in his maw, he tugged voilently. He could feel the tressels ripping the skin on the other stallion's neck as the steed thrashed wildly next to him, rearing out and trying to get Apollos's neck. Apollos quickly ducked his dial down and felt the other steed's chin smash into the top of his crown, a thudding headache pushing on his brain. Apollos blinked a few times, trying to gain his vision back from from the blackning stars he had suddenly seen. He could feel the other stallion pushing next to him, their bodies rubbing together; sweat, dirt, and blood mixing together.
His vision slightly blurred he was caught off gaurd as the steed shoved into him and he stumbled over his talons, not falling, but loosing his balance. He quickly regained it and stood still a few feet away from the other steed, his vison clear again. He looked at the steed in front of him, bleeding and clearly in pain; almost just like himself. He was ready to end this war. With a deep ringing cry; that of a true stallion rung from his chest as he charged forward. His talons gripping the sand as he raced forward, closing the distance between them again. He rolled his shoulder out, ready to knock the other stallion completely off his feet with the power Apollos had gained through that short charge.
Not taking time to see if the other stallion had fallen yet, he half reared; his talons striking out for anything that is in front of him and under him. His whole body twisted to the side, his rear end flying toward the other stallion. His hind talons ready to smash into the head of the other stallion. Another wild scream came from his chest, only words were audible, "This is my land to keep!" His eyes were bloodshot, and blood was running down from his many wounds. He just wanted this over, and he wanted this steed to leave his home.

Jinx fell down once more, as the steed let go of his neck and tripped away. The sand dug into his wound, and he screamed with anger and pain. Jinx eyed the steed and noticed that the steed was charging toward him. He flipped back onto his feet, and meet his opponent in a rear of his own, his mouth a gape snapping for the steeds skin. His hooves crashing against the air toward the stalli. His orbs flaming with the adrenaline coursing through his veins.
As the steed screamed his words to Jinx, he answered with his own scream, "Not if I can help it!" His hooves kept thrashing, but he was quickly going back to all fours. He rose quickly again though, throat protected by his head, teeth snapping for anything. He whipped around in a flying buck, and dashed across the sand, but not before the stalli's hooves slammed into Jinx's Rump. He screamed a trumpeting neigh, that would send shivers down another's spine, if they knew not what was happening. Jinx whirled back to face the steed, breathing heavily, staring down his opponent.
He wanted to end this now, but he wanted the outcome to be in his favor, and any horse in the wild with serious injuries would be asking to be hunted down by predators, he did not want either of them to come to that fait, even though he wanted to win this battle. If Jinx had any say in the matter, he would have a new home.............Maybe.
ooc: should we end this soon?

apollos i'm not here for the party...
Apollos watched as the other fell down once more. It seemed his balance must be knocked off, but Apollos didn't think much upon this. His ears pinned at the steed's scream, and he continued to charge. The steed stood up quickly to meet him in a rear, their jaws clicking towards each other; looking for any skin that they could tear. Apollos felt one of the steed's pawing talons strike his shoulder and glaze off, leaving no skin torn but a tender spot. Apollos launched forward, keeping his crown tucked to his chest. Apollos's ears snapped down on his crown, not listening to the other steed, his anger coursing though his blood. The other steed seemed to be falling down to the sand, and Apollos quickly swung his thick crown around to headbutt the stallion. Apollos watched as the other quickly came back up and whipped his hind end around to smash into him; who struck out at his rump with his talons and found skin. (I wasn't powerplaying, just restating what happened in Shadow Fire's post)
There seemed to be a brief pause in their war, where the other steed whirrled around to meet Apollos and stared him down. Apollos allowed his barrel to rise and fall as he breathed; a cold, empty look in his eyes as he stared back at the steed. Energy was still pumping strong in this young Friesian that stood before the red hued steed. He snorted, tucking his crown down to his chest protectively. He didn't know why the red hued steed had stopped; but Apollos wasn't ready for this war to end quite yet. He leaped forward and twisted his whole body around; his hind end flying out towards the steed's crown. His long legs kicked out once, and found only air. He tucked them in and kicked them out once more towards the steed's crown. Time seemed to slow for a moment, and Apollos could feel himself slowly kicking out; waiting for his talons to meet skin. It was only a chance draw if he would actually hit the steed.
It is funny how two animals will fight till almost death for something they want. But why does this happen? Why does nature have to be so complex? An old stallion that is well loved and cherished, dies in the depths of winter. He leaves a son and his lover behind to cope with his loss. A lover dies in sweet sorrow of that pain, leaving behind a mere colt to take on these lands. Apollos; the very name meant handsome boy, but why did he have to go through such rough times? Because it was his fate, to take on what Windago left behind. To complete the legacy and make a new one to carry it on. This isle, his home was claimed by Windago a long time ago. He had come and battled the leader and taken it from his hands, kinda like what this red hued steed before Apollos was trying to do. But, maybe it wasn't time for these lands to be taken away from the bloodlines of Windago, Oasis, and Aurora; for it was all of their sweat and blood that made this place a home for Apollos. It deffinetly wasn't his time to leave, but the it was up to the god's to what happens to his fate.
