TEHEKI come and see
Values was truly infuriating. How she loathed being challenged, but his words still rolled over her still body. It was his words that made her turn as well. And had he threatened her? How easily he could be disposed of! Yet a voice of rationality told her this was not true at all. And how far back she would be set! His protection and mind were so very important. As much as the future.
Monsieur stirred as she approached, and Teheki was curious if he were just as uselessly exhausted as the stallion behind her. She smiled graciously in return, exchanging words, and listening for movement from her back. He was willing as she, and her heart lit happily. May was a curious choice of words, but who was she to question! She would be sure to take in every detail; there was no sense in traveling without selecting landmarks. Contact made her freeze.
Her feelings of annoyance remained, but on the outside, in the presence of the lead, had evaporated. It was more than simply polite. Concealed. “Wonderful!” she cried in response to Values. The mare was really quite merry. All was coming into place, all but Ontaria; that would be addressed in good time.
“Gertrude!” she called without a glance behind. Teheki’s focus remained on the two stallions, her smile spreading between them as though she were an unfaithful strumpet. The soft footfalls of the little creature could be heard from behind. Teheki arched her neck to meet them with her eyes. Her tone of voice was still quite strange in her mind, her very choice of words. “You should always come to us. We’re going to explore, my love; are you happily met by this?”

Monsieur smiled as the stag joined them. He waited some time and sure enough, the filla, Gertrude, joined as well. He smiled to her as well and turned his back on them, leading the way. He wondered if his love had managed to come with him, then maybe his life would be as great as this family's. He knew it was impossible, the lucky beasts. The stallion had a love and a beautiful daughter. Sure he may be sick, but things like that would sure to pass. Other stallions that would be jealous would most likely kill the stag and claim the mare and foal for themselves. It's amazing what some stags would succumb to. Monsieur had some class compared to them. He wouldn't break up a family. Such action was beyod the alliance of dark.
'Ere es ze waterfall and ze water we drink from. Ze water is pure and filtered by ze waterfall. Zhere es a pool over zhere to cool off een so zat no uzzer 'orse drinks our filth."he said. As he spoke, he pointed to each water body in turn. The one that is for cooling and bathing seemed to run up by stream on the side of the mountain before tumbling back down via waterfall, thus filtering the water.
Monsieur moved on to the far side of the land. There was a large cave that was wide as well. The back was hard to see. I believe zat zis shelter vil prove adequate. he said. After he said that, it was shown that the cave carried on to the back into various other caves. I 'ave checked zem all an zhere are no predators 'ibernatin' een zem or tunnels to lead to zem besides zis one.
EDIT; Crow'sia here of course. I just closed the bold tag, it was buggin' me. XD Just lettin' ye know, feel free to edit this out. (:

Values walked along after them, the space between the two healthy horses and him slowly growing. He had to lower his head to watch the passing stones, knowing he wouldn't have the strength to keep from falling. His auds remained up however, listening in on the lead and Teheki talking.
The further he went, he became weaker and was starting to hope the shelter was just around the corner. When they came to the water he stopped and drank feriously, maw only leaving hte water to refreshen his lungs.
Seeing the others were again moving, he limped back after them. The illed stallion was a wreck as he reached them at the caves. He was shuddering, chills racking his body. The whole of his carcass hurt, and his legs were weak. Looking out to the cave, he gave a releived smile and moved towards it, not minding if the others followed or not.
Nearly at the mouth of the rock formation, his back limbs suddenly gave out. With a frightened cry, he tried to rear up, head thrown back. The black brute crumbled to the rocky earth, laying on his side in shock. He struggled and writhed, trying desperately to get his forelimbs under him. Feeling hard stone below his hooves, he readied to bolt, only to find he was weighted down. Still in a panic, disorientation took hold. He fell back to earth, skull thrashing wildly to see what it was that kept him from moving. Seeing nothing, and too weak to continue his fight, he lay on his side, catching his breath.
Values rolled to his belly as best he could, moving awkwardly as he tried to pick up his forlimbs. They moved obediently, despite the slight ache. He swung his rear legs up, only to find they did not move. He looked back at himself, trying again and giving a worried nicker to his mate.

GERTRUDE
Her parents were curious and sometimes infuriating creatures. Gertrude could honestly say that she would often times rather be on her own, which was perhaps the reason she found herself of often wandering away. Obedience, it would only be important for a few more months and she could escape. Her father might drive her away as well, as was the way of horses. For the time she would simply learn what she could. How she longed to be with others. It was this idea that Gertrude was happily met by.
Nonetheless, exploration was something she looked forward to, perpetually curious. She followed to her mother, nuzzling her leg gently. “Yes!” Gertrude galloped after the small glancing at her father and poking at his legs every now and then. As they approached the waterfall however, she glanced to her mother in front for a go ahead. With a quaint nod, the mare sent her off, as usual relatively unconcerned with Gertrude’s interest. It was rather eclectic she had noted early in life, how her family would one moment be overly protective and the next show no concern.
With not a second look, she trotted for the pool, and dove in. Glancing back to see the trio moving off in to the distance.

TEHEKI come and see
Teheki was very happy to be moving again but she sensed Values was not. The quicker they found him a place to rest the more contented she would be. She ducked her head to see the little body of her daughter brush against her, before they started, following behind. Teheki however stayed up front with Monsieur, listening to his every word. Seldom would she shift her gaze behind her to check on Values but her ears remained on him primarily.
She looked at the waterfall they approached with a great deal of interest. It roaring in her ears. Surely this was not the only water source, the rive must was traveled all through the mountain. Hot springs could exist here as well; it was a pleasant that and it would have been good for Values. It also might have explained how the herd could survive in such harsh winter conditions, were the caves warmed in such a way. “It is lovely,” she chimed, as she was petitioned by Gertrude. Teheki nodded slowly, looking into the position Monsieur continued. Far into the distance, caves? “Don’t be long, come find us by scent later. And for spirits sakes, call us if you have any trouble.” She gave her a stern glance, and sent her off to the pool with a nip. Monsieur was moving on then, and she followed with pleasure, skipping along after.
The cave reminded her of their home on the beach, and she smiled with memory. “You’re sure there is no other way in?” she asked warily. Predators were not the only problem in life. Movement caught her eye as Values strode past them. She eyed him with little interest, but suddenly to her great distress she followed his cry with her own of terror and rage.
His fall shook the earth where they stood. So loud and so awful. Within seconds, she was by his side moving carefully around the flailing stallion so she would not be kicked. She bent to press her nose against him when he seemed to pause, checking if he we alive, but his breathing like that waterfall roared desperately in her ears and as he suddenly shifted and kicked out again she flailed back. He could not stand. What horrible illness was this! Was it contagious? “Why can you not stand, what is this?” she screamed to him in a panic, looking hopefully to Monsieur. Back and forth, back and forth. She would be set months behind. And what was worse, they are sitting ducks.

Monsieur nodded to the mare as she asked the question. I am sure. I 'ave traced every wall een zis cave and 'ave come back to ze same spot I am standing right now. he said. He had never found any hot springs in this area, but it had never been too cold. The mountains rose on either side of the valley, but the valley was low. There was hardly any wind for the mountains broke it, and it was so much lower from the mountain tops that it was very rare for snow to set on the ground. The caves were somewhat warmer than the outside in the winter. Lava must be running underground, but not closely enough that it would penetrate the surface.
Monsieur's eyes widened as the stag fell to the ground. He had rushed to the poor animal's side and tried to roll him over to his feet. His own legs were there to support the stallion if need be. He looked at the mare and saw that she was looking back at him. He heard her terrified question and shook his head. I do not know of zis illness. But I can assure you zat I will not allow you to leave zis land until you are fit. he said the second half to the stallion. I would not be able to sleep at night knowing zat you 'ave carried on out of my lands with ze reaper on your back! he said. He knew that the fae probably wanted to see her brother, but he didn't want guilt on his shoulders on letting them leave.

After his initial fit of panic and confusion, the stallion seemed all too calm. He was weak and tired, but mostly irritated. He was sitting up now, still trying to get his rear legs up. As Teheki came by, he nudged her, trying to show he was alright, and to get her to calm down. He turned to Monsieur and tried to use hte stallion's support to get up. It was fairly unsuccessful, as he only fell again.
"I'm fine... I cannot feel my back legs." He said, turning about and nipped them. "It should pass..." He added hopefully, glancing over at the caves. If he could get in there he should be fine, safe at least for the most part.
He looked between them and pulled his forlegs below him, shakily, but stood tall despite his rump. He took a pce forward, letting his limbs drag out behind him. It looked ridiculous, and hurt his back, but he had to get to shelter.
"If you could help push..." He grunted and took another few steps, stopping ot catch his ragged breath. "push me along." He was trying so hard to not panic. He knew it would only add to his ill image, and make his situation worse, burning valuable energy.

of predator, of prey
So her leg had not been broken, and that what was important. After her first experience with the strange deer, horses he had called them, Sonlera was finally recovered. Few bruises, invisible on her tawny fur, remained and she was able to run and jump with ease having satiated herself on small game. Never go for the big ones, she had been told. Although it was rare for cougars to communicate with one another, the male seemed more than willing. There was certainly enough land for the both of them, but that was not important, she would kill him eventually.
It was this day, after taking refuge in the mountains, she had noticed the scent of the strange beasts come her way again. The horses she had been following only recently were all still great giants, particularly the one. Except there was a little one, tiny, and she thought it must have been a child. There was an instant when she thought she had been discovered, having made too much noise in the underbrush, but the male, the ‘stallion’, had chosen to observe a separate set of brush, and overlooked her. For this Sonlera was thankful, the great hooves of these animals were terrifying, but she could dare say the reward would be worth the suffering.
And she had decided to go for the child. The distinct set of sickness was on the air, in the small male, but she could wait for the beast to die, or weaken further. Particularly, though, she had selected the young female because for some bizarre reason the group had left her so unattended. How silly! And she frolicked about with little care in the water. That would be troublesome of course, water, for Sonlera would be slowed in the fluid as well.
What pleased her most about this place, was how wonderfully oblivious these creatures seemed to be to the idea of the food chain. It made the hunt just a little bit easier; although this was only her second try. She had lied down on a ledge to watch the little creature, not quite twice her own size, in the pool, and even purred a soft hello. It did not look understand of course, but only stared curiously as her tail flicked to and fro. Until of course Sonlera lunged.
They always felt the need to scream.

Monsieur shoved his nose underneath the stallion's hind end, lifting the stallion up so that the smaller one's stomach was on top of monsieur's strong neck. He lifted him so that his feet were in a position for landing, if he fealt he was up to it. Monsieur was only bearing half the weight since the other half fell upon the stag's seemingly able front legs.
Let me know when 'ou can stand. he asked, shaking a bit under the weight. Monsieur's ears perked at a rustling noise, but concentrated on the procedure at the moment. He kept his eyes on the filly and the mare, trying to protect everyone at once.

TEHEKI come and see
Teheki backed away silently, her wind vivid and clear. Monsieur’s words, although he tried, she found of little comfort for it was clear that he too had no idea what this affliction happened to be and she could still feel the burning touch of Values now sitting on the ground. He looked rather ridiculous.
Lies.
Would it pass, or was he paralysed forever? She could have done him better, in that case, as to put the stallion out of his misery. Monsieur would likely protest, offer to take care of him and let him be a burden, because otherwise he would starve and that was truly an awful fate. Yes, she would crush his skull, or his throat, when he was too weak to fight her back; it would be an act of kindness. Though Teheki was not heartless, she would have preferred recovery and so hoped for it.
An odd request was placed though, a request for assistance, and with a snort the mare followed her host’s lead, pressing her grey muzzle beneath his hind legs, and pushing forward. Awkward! Monsieur bared most of Values however, and she envied his bulk, still how small she was in comparison. Was it her imagination? Or had they just moved a few inches. She would gather Teheki after her partner was safely stashed away, pending the little fool had not drowned herself. “Let me know when 'ou can stand.”
She followed the great stallion’s gaze at the sound most unholy and it took a minute to register in her brain. Gertrude. Annoyance set over her, what had she done to herself? But this was not atypical scream, it was unnatural and foreign here and fatal. A cry familiar from the times when Ontaria still ran with her. But there were no real predators here!
Was it instinct, or something else? Teheki was drawn instantly to her daughter like a magnet. Months back and years back. She had quickly dropped Values, although surely Monsieur would compensate completely and began the short trek to the pool. It took her seconds, and the sight she saw was most horrible. The cat she had seen before, though not of course of this particular one, and saw it round on her momentarily. Would it know their strengths would likely match? Clearly it saw that Gertrude was easy prey as she was cornered and paddling to keep herself a float.
Monsieur will come, she thought. He would leave Values. And with a scream of absolutely fury, Teheki charged directly at the cat.
the future way
OOC; I’m going to assume as they are a little ways from Gertrude, since they moved to ‘the far side of the land’. More likely Monsieur heard her scream, ‘ They always felt the need to scream.’.
Yay, evil murderous cats and sick horsies. And we could go farther and assume Monsieur is still a bit bruised from Hurt. Hahahaha. Horrid predicament!

Values, though busied with a very bussying fact of paralysis, looked up suddenly as a high-pitched sound of fright burned the air. His optics seemed to change to maddened instinct as he watched Teheki charge off, ready to move after her, to find he was held by Monsieur, and more importantly his inability to move his hind limbs. What a nuisance.
He struggled away from the draft stallion, not in fear, but annoyance and, and confusion. Now that he couldn't protect his family, it was quite concerning that he had to. He nickered and pawed his his forelimbs, looking back at the draft. He nipped the other horse, just to catch his attention.
"Go to them!" He declared worriedly, head swinging between Monsieur and his family. "I cannot protect them with these legs, leave me here and go!" He barked, ears flattening as he made one last violent twist and fell to the ground with a grunt.

Monsieur had dropped the stag before he had spoken and was already charging towards the sound. He saw the cat and the two horses. He stood between predator and prey with a mixed look of fury and confusion. How did the damn beast get here? he mumbled under his breath. It must have crawled over the mountains and into the valley. Only a truely determined cat would do that. Neck still sore from holding up the stallion, he charged at the cat. Fast enough to crush the cat, but slow enough to stop or turn if needed. He struck out with each step to kick the cat if he came in his way.

of predator, of prey
The mare, as the females of these new animals were called, seemed to be on top of Sonlera before she could blink. She had been closing in on the little one, driving her further and further into the pool and perhaps if it could not swim her work would be made easier. For to survive it would need to escape, right into her waiting jaws. Then what must have been the mother startled her with a frightful screech, the little one bolted past her, only to be knocked into the water by the swoosh of a great paw.
And then Sonlera was on her back, underwater and choking to breath. She came up frustrated and peered around frantically. What had hit her? Where the smaller horses as strong as the great forest giants? No. There was a shadow looming over her, its great hooves kicking out in the water, trying to lash her to pieces. A forest giant!
She had to get past him and to the child. From experience Sonlera knew from her experience she had no chance against this monster, but he was blocking her access to the smaller ones. She danced through the air, coming around and being grazed by a foot. For a moment she thought she might have managed to grab a bit of his thigh, but slid off once more into the water, silent.

TEHEKI come and see
Teheki might have been in a fit, but she thought she could hear the two stallions calling out in the distance, lifting her spirits. Disappointment flooded her though when she realized that her presence made no difference. The cat’s target did not change, Gertrude squealed and was slammed into the water. She surged forward then, finding herself suddenly cut off, rearing back and around what she thought was a huge falling rock. There was a strange gargling noise in the background, and an even more horrid one of shallow breathing.
Monsieur was the rock. She veered around him as he did around her, dragging her daughter awkwardly to shallow water. Gertrude flailed every few moments and then would go limp, continuing her funny pattern of breathing, something that was foreign to Teheki. She put her down on shore though, a nudged her, examining her body over, but the little filly seemed to be find, only a few smaller scratches. This was a fortunate break. But she needed to stand. Muttering to her quietly, she tried to come her, but frustration overcame Teheki and she turned to see the cougar jumping in the air, now targeting Monsieur. Frustration overtook her.
“Kill it!”

Monsieur already had the idea on his mind. He fealt teeth slide accross his rump and open up an old bite from the colt he had fought on the island. Blood seeped from his reopened wound and he winced. This only filled him with more fury. He lunged into the water at the cat to try and take hold of it's throat. If he got hold of that, the cat was his to kill. All it would take is one, hard bite.
His pounding footsteps were still heard in the muddy water. His eyes blazed with fury as he opened his mouth and dove for the feline, preparing to rip it to shreds if the throat plan failed.
