Monsieur was now the rightful leader of the Rocky Mountains. He trotted around the land to make sure that all other equines were out. Yes, he still missed his love and yes, he wished he could have helped the two that were now in the dark stallion's hold.
There was nothing he could do about that now. He snorted and moved to the center of the land. His soft navy eyes gazed out of the land, over the many mountains surrounding his valley, hoping that someone may accompany him in this lonely terra. He tossed his head again and whinneyed, inviting all to come and stay.

TEHEKI come and see
Up the mountainside the journey had sometimes been treacherous, particularly with their precious daughter in tow, Teheki nudged the filly every now and again, poking her up the hill or leaving her to Values. Often the mare found herself rolling her eyes, how much this slowed her down! It was all quite frustrating and twice had the little creature taken a dive into the ground, which had caused them to stop for quite some time. Yet now the trio was on the move once more as the rugged terrain at last opened into yet another lush valley. A smiled brightened her spirits, and the scent of another horse, quite fresh, could only add to this.
Together they picked their way across the terrain, which was relatively open, a few groves of trees here and there. In the distance the bulk of a horse was just visible. Teheki eyed it curiously, hoping this were the leader, most other animals seemed useless to her. As the wind changed, her heart could only lift, as typically no males were allowed in territories without status. She quickened her own pace to meet it, as the small cry went into the air. A newly established leader. As she skipped along however a dark, sickly blur whirled past her, its light banners reflecting sunlight in her eyes. In seconds she was screeching, “Gertrude!” and picking up speed to intersect the small beast. The sound had been so unnaturally concerned that if this was not common Teheki might have been surprised. As the two met, she bent her head to take a nip out of the filly’s shoulder who yelped and cowered obediently behind her father. And continued the walk. She did not feel any fear, the sound had been welcome.
“It’s been nearly a year, Values,” she told him downheartedly when they were in earshot. A year since Ontaria had disappeared, by all accounts it was likely that the horse was dead. She waited for him to address the stallion, or for the stallion to address them, grabbing Gertrude’s mane in her mouth to pull the little animal closer to her and well out of danger.
Just a small little family, passing through.

OOC; I might actually post with whatsherfacefillyhorse later, but for now, whatever, she’s attached to Teheki. XD

Values took up the rear of the small group, mostly to pick up any pieces of filly, and make sure she didn't stray. Whenever she slowed he'd nip her rump to hurry her along, guaranteed successful in making her scamper back to mummy. And of course there was the added view of his new lover, for lack of a better word. But normally, he'd insist on leading the group. As of late, the stallion hadn't been well, feverish and dizzy. It slowed him down, so rather than slowing down the whole group, he stayed behind and would rest whenever their daughter had fallen or grew tired.
Upon entering the new land Porno went into a strange transformation. It was noticeable probably only to his mate, but to him it was painfully obvious, especially with the disease working through him. His ears were constantly darting about on either side of his silver mane, as well as his eyes. Sometimes he'd pause, look about and scent the air, then trot to catch up. Most stallions didn't take kindly to others in the area, although having Teheki with him, and Gertrude, he felt a bit safer. Perhaps the stallion wouldn't mistake him for some overly-hormonal stallion looking for a fight over some bit of rock, and take him for a father looking to keep his daughter and mate safe. Neither was really true, but the later would be much more helpful to them. Any attack now, and he knew he wouldn't come out the winner, or in very good condition, and any injuries in the wild could mean death.
On one of his little stops he caught scent of the stallion and went ridged, instinct momentarily controlling him. He pawed and flattened his ears, eyes rolling wildly. Another stallion meant harm to himself and small family, and it was his duty to protect them. Of course, if worse came to worse, he'd have no regrets leaving the two behind to fend for themselves.
Watching his daughter take off, then Teheki, he bolted a moment, then stopped as Gertrude was nipped and sent back to him. He stumbled as he slowed himself, mouth agape as it foamed with saliva from the effort of walking through the rough terrain. Glaring down at his child, he nosed her roughly, then nipped her neck and prompted her to move again, irritable from her constant nuisances and inevitably because of his being. Values trotted after his bloodline to stand beside Teheki as she spoke. With a nod, the black horse gave her a single nuzzle along her withers before turning his mug to the other brute.
"It's very likely he's just found a home amongst the herds. Perhaps even has a mate, and would otherwise be out looking for you." One eye remained on her, with the other stared at Valentine, readying for an oncoming attack. His once strong voice wet and broken. "Besides, with Gertrude we haven't been able to look as carefully as we planned. We'll find him." He gave her one last brush with his lips, toyed with her mane, then turned directly to the lead of the mountain, unable to shrink his ego enough to drop his head and tail submissively, despite the dangers and weakness of his frame.

He had been standing there for quite some time until he caught the scent of horses. How many? Two? Three? His suspicions were confirmed when he saw the three. A mare and a stag and a foal. They must be a family.
The hairs on the back of his neck rose when he saw the stallion, instinct attacking his body, but he relaxed himself immediatly and politly walked over to the threesome. He saw the smallest scurry out in front and then back to the couple. So this is what a foal looks like. he thought, never able to see his own offspring as a stud on a farm in France.
When he came near, he smiled warmly. Bonjour and welcome. he said, sweeping his navy pools over them. He did not know if this family was going to choose to live here or just passing through.
True, it had been quite lonely for some time without any herd members. He would love to have a mare to love, but it seemed that this one was taken. He was bigger than to tear a family apart. To do that would be much to harsh.
His large draft appearance must be frightening to the young colt but his navys made up in kindness. He wouldn't mind if they wished to share his land. He would be glad for the company. If the stag was nice enough to help protect, that would also be welcomed.

The sickly beast couldn't help but step closer to his mare, creating a living wall between the draft and his child. So far the Lord seemed kind, but stallions have been known to kill the offspring of another. Even if children were replaceable, it would waste valuable time and energy to make another.
Once proud, ebon pools looked upon the large draft, now glazed and puffy. He again pawed and shifted, not liking the size of the other, or how weak he felt. Trying to keep his legs sturdy, he brushed against Teheki. For a moment, one limb buckled. Values threatened to fall, then shot out another limb to counter the suddenly off-balance weight. For a moment he looked rather precarious, one limb bent jaggedly, another stretched outwards to hold his top-half off the ground. With a grunt, he slowly pulled himself back up, cursing silently to his body.
"Thank you." He force out, but it sounded perfectly honest, aided by his tired vocals. "I don't want to be blunt at all... but we've been searching for a horse. Do you have any others here aside from yourself?"
It seemed lately the herds had gone mad, constantly changing ownership. Values had been forced to pay attention by Teheki indirectly, but it was hard to know who owned what and when. By the time one land had been reached, there was a new king. Values doubted these stallions had much time to go out and find many horses to build up their herds. HIs head turned just slightly to Teheki, seeing if she had anything to add.

TEHEKI come and see
Her fur prickled when she sensed Values to be relatively on edge, but Teheki always passed these feelings off quickly. A few times, she had noticed, he had seemed more tired than usual, but most times she credited this to Gertrude as they dragged the foal along into the mountainside. In the dim parts of her mind however, where her intelligence lurked, she had the feeling that he was attempting to hide something, that for some reason he was plagued. Was the stallion having seconds thoughts! Teheki had never fully trusted him to begin with; it was only her brother to whom that honour was granted. She pushed this sort of paranoia from her mind as he came to meet her; she pressed her face back against his. He was really quite the mesmerizing creature she did have to admit.
She nodded complacently to his voice. At times it was still the seductive song she had always known, but more recently and more commonly it was broken, so different. As the two parted, Teheki turned her eyes to her daughter and the animal they were about to meet. It had been such a wonderful arrangement. Now it was put into action.
The mare kept a tight grip on the little animal that struggled against her grip. She eyed the animal that had welcomed them uneasily, smiling back a bit gracious and a bit smug. Her memory floated for a second into the past year, for such an adventure it had been, but with each tug from her daughter, Teheki remembered there should have been another, two. It disappointed her, but she felt no sadness towards the stillborn son that might have been. She accepted it as nature. As it stood however, she had not intention to loose the child who had survived. And who would very willingly carry her and Values into the future.
Yet as the moments passed Teheki seemed to find there was no danger to be found, and she let go of Gertrude, who was now protesting rather loudly, to give her thanks. Bonjour, what a strange word. “Yes, we’re grateful to be welcome,” she said kindly after her mate, and her eyes slid to Values now and again uneasily. She felt as though he were using her like a post! Quite a peculiar turn of events. About to speak again, she was abruptly cut off. "I don't want to be blunt at all... but we've been searching for a horse. Do you have any others here aside from yourself?" This was exactly why she loved him, needed him; how wonderful was the stallion at dodging small talk. When he so desired. Again she nodded complacently.
Catching Values gaze, she decided it might be better to provide a brief description. “Yes, your kingship,” she began with a quaint nod. She could be quite charming, in a sort of suck-kind-of-way when she so desired. Shifting appearances. “We’re searching for my brother, you see; you might have seen him, chased him out? He’s small, and light, yes his fur is very light,” her voice quickly became desperate, fevered almost, and pitched in the most awful hopeful of ways. It was then though, that the thought came to her mind, did Values seem warmer than usual pressed up against her, or was she imagining?
She shot him a serious, and rather agitated look of concern, before her eyes, wide and hopeful returned to the nameless leader before her. Gertrude on the other hand, found herself content to skip merrily around the group, never wandering far this time but having no trouble making a loud nuisance of herself.

He listened to every word, watching the stallion who acted so strong, but seemed to have a hidden weakness. He listened to first his, and then the other.
Zis land was empty when I 'ave entered recently. No uzzer stag nor fae 'ad come and spoke to me. I am sorry. he dipped his head to show regret before lifting it.
Before 'ou continue on your search for zis bruzzer of yours, 'ou are welcome to rest 'ere. 'Ou must gazzer up your strength to climb over ze mountains again. He paused for a moment, feeling that he was forgetting something. My name ees Monsieur Valentine o' ou may call me Monsieur. he said, remembering to tell them his name. It softens up the uneasiness around them if they knew his name.
He smiled kindly to the filly, adorable little creature. He then turned his pools the mare's, then to the stallions. He then looked away, showing he was not one to threaten them.

Values shifted his weight, neck slowly dropping his head, but his struggles were evident to keep it up. With a sudden thrash he paced back slightly, snorting heavily. His body swelled and he let out a slow breath. Rest sounded very needed at this point, even if Teheki didn't want to, he had to.
After the stallion finished speaking, he gave the mare a comforting brush, muttering a quite apology to her. His body was damp with sweat, turning to Monsieur. Actually, it really was kind of him, but Values didn't think about it, nor think it too important. He was able to stay here. Giving Teheki a small glance, he nodded his thanks. "Thank you, it's very kind to let us stay. My name is Values." Simply to look less of a threat, he just gave his shortened name. "I really hate having to intrude on your land, but I'm afraid we need to rest." He glanced at Teheki, then the draft lead. "I'm afraid I'm getting a fever."

Monsieur nodded solemnly. That must be the reason why the poor stag was acting so stiff. Zhere ees no intrusion at all. Feel free to stay as long as you wish with your family. he said to him. He walked away to return to his post so to stand guard over the land and his newly found company.
Hearing a rustle, the stag flicked his ears towards the trees. He flattened them against his head and lowered his maw to the ground, baring teeth. What was it? Wolf? Cat? Stallion? He began to advance on the bush, but then noticed branches moving towards him. He lifted his head, confused. Then he realised what the branches were as the animal baring them walked proudly out of the woods with a similar animal without them and a smaller, more migitized versian of the both.
Monsieur stared at these creatures that he had never seen before in France. They seemed to regard him mildly and carried on with their business of eating now and then. He snorted and they didn't spook. Shrugging, he walked away. They seemed to be no threat to the others or to himself for they were no bigger than the young filly.

TEHEKI come and see
His words came to Teheki with neither sadness nor heartbreak; she had been expecting the answer to be a no to begin with. She smiled softly, accepting the stallion’s apologies. And so they would move on. Yet her eyes shifted again to Values with uneasy distaste. Anger flared within her mind. This was troublesome, understanding the peculiar accent of the lead in who’s shadow she stood was difficult enough. Teheki strained to catch each strange word form on his lips. Monsieur.
She felt the soft fur on Values nose reach for her again, but found herself draw back harshly with his own apology, a rather hidden, light snarl lifting from her throat. Still she followed him again, smiling pleasantly, “And I am Teheki, this--”
“My name is Gertrude!” the little voice barked. The filly let a strange laugh fall from her lips, no longer flitting about. She was only shot a brief glance from her mother, before she passed once more into the background, tended to by her mother, who nudged her now and again to silence her excited muttering. “—is our daughter.”
Introductions aside, the mare turned rapidly to catch the end of Values’ confession. Still she said nothing. Almost as if under a spell, she could only smile and nod like a machine, her face static as a doll frozen in ice. There was a single positive side to her stallion’s apparent illness; she could explore, perhaps, the remainder of the mountainside. Otherwise, her mind was seething. Teheki might have thrown herself into a rage, how she hated to be deceived, even simply. He should have informed her as soon as he had felt off. She expected better. Did he think she would leave him? Cut him from her life! When she needed him so, required him! How could he think to render himself so useless? Any other animal would have been punished for such stupidity.
Her mood only truly brightened as she followed Monsieur with her eyes, quickly rounding on the stallion, she tugged at the bright fur on his neck sharply. She was glad to have a moment alone. The ice melted in a flash, but her face now shone, very much alive and like the sun, where it might have been like the fires of hell instead. Teheki could say that she was one to keep her true emotions to herself, particularly in the presence of strangers. She drew her mouth to his ear, hissing darkly. The words each near silence. “Why did you not say a thing!”
Crowy is braindead.

Values watched the fellow brute speak. He dropped his head slightly in a single, simple nod of understanding. Once the pale draft turned away, his attention drifted to his buisness partner; he felt that term was much better than "lover."
Momentarily his eyes flicked to Gertrude, or the other draft. Sure, Monsieur was kind, but that didn't mean he wouln't turn on them. It had happened planty of times to him while staying in a lead's land. Of course, most of those times he hadn't be nesisarily invited, and was always causing some sort of trouble.
As Teheki spoke to him with such harsh words he swung his head to the side in a manner to strike at her, lips coiled back to show his teeth. No one questioned God.
"I thought it would pass." He growled lowly into her aud, ears pressed down flat. Dropping his kissers, he nipped at her neck irritably, head down with his nape arched aggresively. For a moment he pawed the air, then circled around her, positioned between her and Monsieur.
Values stood in such a position for a while, eyes looking up at Teheki, ill and rather grumpy. Stepping forward, he opened his jaws and clamped down around some dry mountain grass, ripping it up and grinding away at it slowly.

Monsieur watched the family from his perch. The stag seemed mistrustful of him, but that was to be expected. Most stallions these days were unable to be trusted. He learned this when he had tried to claim the island and he lost to a colt. A colt! He still didn't know how that would happen. He was a strong draft stallion and this colt was dark and would only think of himself. He had decided that the disease must have attacked him quicker than he thought.
Monsieur bent his legs and laid down. He closed his eyes, but his auds flickered around, trying to catch any sound. He heard the horses arguing about something, but didn't try to listen too hard. It sounded private. He listened to the deer eating the grass and the small deer whimpering slightly. He listened to the rustling of the trees and the sound of the water hitting the bank. All seemed quiet.

TEHEKI come and see
Her body lifted into the air, though only a hoof’s length, and Teheki was soon reeling to find her safety. But she was steady, and collected, this sort of folly was not to intrude her thoughts. A small thump indicated her landing. Values was still able to snarl in her ear. Impudent! Cocky. Yet for this she often respected him. Teheki closed her eyes as the bite dug lightly into her neck, indignant but silent. Listening she could watch in her mind’s eye as he moved. Quiet closed around her again, save for the small rustling, and the cool and seldom coming of the wind.
Then, a crunching, and a chewing. She floated to where he stood, arching as if to take a bite as well. Teheki stopped short, the shoots scratching at her nose. “Next time you’d do better to say; death is useless,” she chimed, the darks of her eyes watching him from their corners. She opened her mouth and pulled out a lump of grass, unnaturally dry for the springtime, and contented herself to chew. What an awful environment to live in. Such peculiar foods!
She glanced towards Monsieur’s great form in time to see him settle on the ground. Rounding, she flicked her tail as she passed Values, meaning to brush his rump for attention, glancing to her daughter who had also found herself more than happy to gorge on the mountain life. She snorted at her, intending the little beast to keep her place; she should only follow if Values did decide to as well. And it was with a kick, that she soared to meet Monsieur at his resting place. Even when lying on the earth he seemed like such a giant, he could reach the clouds. Not so far as his kindness, which she was beginning to suspect could reach the stars.
Teheki burred a sound of hello once more, tossing her head, all meant to gather his focus. Immediately, she moved to appeal to this kindness, her voice of a courteous tone. “Could you show us a sheltered place to sleep? I’m afraid Gertrude fears being in the open too long, and I do not think we could well defend ourselves. You could give us a tour, on the way? It would be most wonderful for her. And we would be most thankful to you. In debt! I dare say.” Sugar might have poured from her lips, if she tried for a kinder smile. The sun might have been made to look like the moon.
A way to see the land, and a place to rest, it was all she could ever ask for, and then out of his hair forever, to allow the stallion to move on with his life, and the trio with theirs’. Yet Teheki was certain, as she was of many things, that they would cross paths again.

Monsieur was remembering his old days, before he was shipped off. He remembered his unnamed love, how he never came within a few feet of her. It didn't matter that he never had a foal with her, but he didn't know her name for the years that they have lived in the same barn. He imagined her escaping France, to come and find him. She was coming out of the woods, all gracious and white and...
Wait. he did hear footsteps, but he knew it couldn't be his love. He opened his eyes and saw the mare. He yawned and stood, stretching himself. When the fae came to him, he smiled sleepily. He was able to sleep with all senses alert, but it wasn't a very refreshing slumber. How may I be of assistance? he asked her. He listened to her words and nodded. Come with me. You may bring your little Gertrude as well and your mate if he feels up to it. he said to her. He stood for a moment silently and shook himself. Bits of grass fell off of his white pelt. He started in the direction of the caves.

Values snorted and watched her move around him. As she brushed against his rear, a hind leg lifted, threatening to kick at her. He didn't swing at her, just let his hoof brush against her, warning not to cross him. After all, he was a stallion, and cranky. Normally he wasn't a well-temptered beast, unless he was at his little acting game, but he didn't have to be so up-tight with Teheki. She needed him, and he knew it, so he'd take advantage of that fact. Plus he'd already gotten the chance to mount her, and she seemed much more interesting in his moody-side, rather than the sweet-heart most mares melted for.
Once she was at his side, his hoof hit the hard earth with an audible thud, face turning just slightly to view her. He didn't do much aside from tip it and nip at her nose. /No one/ told him what to do. "Next time you'd do better to leave me be." He bumped her nose with his, in almost an affectionate manner, then went back to eating.
Values watched his mare trot off towards the other stallion. It made his head rise and his tail beat his flanks. Auds erected themselves to listen to what she had to say to him. He stood and watched, relaxing only when the brute invited him along. Of course... he did suggest he'd be unable. Unable my ass...
The white-graced stallion started to walk towards them, his legs feeling weak. Perhaps he was unable. Values didn't let the thought last long and he continued on his way to them, bumping Teheki's rump with his muzzle to announce his presence, as if the small tift hadn't happened at all.
"I'm well enough, to travel to the shelter at least." Values lef this kissers parted slightly, taking in bigger breaths. The only un-truth about his statement had been the tone. He did need the shelter, and would have to make it somehow. Of course, had he been speaking to Teheki, he'd avoid sounding so sick.
