of predator, of prey
Blood, it was a wonderful thing, like some sort of magic it gave her energy, mixed with memory. If only she had managed to hold on! The splash Sonlera made in the water was great, and she went under and did not move; perhaps they would think she had drowned, and she could pounce again. She watched the horses through squinted eyes, the mother still seemed to be panicking and while panic was often a negative it was positive in this situation; would the stallion turn to calm her.
No! He did not turn, his giant feet skipped across the water, and then his head came down. What was he doing! She propelled herself up, breaking the surface and swatting at his nose before crashing down when she collided. A set of dull teeth grazed her shoulder, but she had the impression that they had the same strength as her own only for the size of his jaw. Something funny happened then though, and Sonlera found she could not move.
A gargled scream escaped her from below, he had stepped hard onto her previously injured hind leg, shattering it. Was it intentional? Or an accident? It did not matter. She took in a breath without meaning to, trapped and choking, yet still managing to lash out. If those dull little teeth reached her all her chances would be lost, she thought they might have. Was that her blood floating up? Strength was leaving the cat quickly, and in a few minutes she moved no more.

Monsieur fealt his hoof step on something that cracked like a piece of stick. He was just about to stick his head in the water when something came up and scratched his muzzled, though he must have done far worse damage for the water began to fill up with blood. He knew now that he had stepped on something of the cat's but he payed no more attention. After a while, he saw the animal squirming but not coming up for air.
Demon or not, he could not see this torture in front of his face any longer. He raised a hoof and aimed it down on the cat's face, preparing to end its and the other horses' misery.

Values was in a panic on the ground. Not that the cat may come and get him, but the inability to help his bloodline and Teheki. Instinct and knowledge battled over his body, struggling to go crush that devil-cat's head in or to go back to the cave where he may rest until he was stronger. But unable to do either, he was left writhing and screaming out to his family.
Soon he was left sweating, covering in dust with a blown out vocal chord. He stared up at the sky wildly, ears flat. Unable to do anything but lay, it was all he could do, feeling his adrenaline burn holes in his muscles, making him kick weakly and roll if he could.
He tipped his head back, a gentle thud sounded as it pat down on earth. He nickered quietly to Teheki, seeing if all was right. Values shuddered at his voice, took a deep breath and sat up. Glancing down at his rather limp lower-half, he struggled to get his rear limbs working.
Value gave a noise of joy as his limb gave a small twitch at his will. He continued working up his muscles, until they were almost guaranteed to shift upon request, but not much else. Turning his head around, he nickered back to the other three.

TEHEKI come and see
While she noticed Values’ distress when she dropped the little filly near by him, Teheki did not find herself concerned any longer for her attention was focused on the limp animal in front of her. She gave a low returning call from within. Did he notice she was only moving slightly? Quite uncertain of their safety, but without a care she considered dropping beside her daughter, in the short distance the horrid crunching of bones still managed to reach her ears and she winced, dropped them flat against her skull. Her heart raced, what had happened?
Values seemed suddenly brighter though. She turned her gaze sharply at his joyous sound, then back to Gertrude thinking she might have been revived, but not, he could move. She gave her own call of happiness and then lifted Gertrude’s body again, dragging it into the cave.
Only could she hope, that the cat had been slaughtered.

ooc: this has waited for so long. I'm going to assume that the cat was killed. Non-playing character, if you don't think this is acceptable, tell me and I will change my post. Monsieur washed off his bloodstained hooves and carried the bloody carcass of the cat into the woods. He was pretty sure that it was dead so he dumped it right outside his lands when he reached the top of the mountains. He watched it roll down on the other side of the mountain, his stomach giving an unpleasant churn everytime he heard a crack of bone. He snorted and turned around, making his way down the long path back to the others. When he reached them, he looked at the water, it was clearing up. He looked at the mare and foal. Are you guys ok? he asked worridly. He was in charge here and he didn't want anyone to be harmed while under his watch, not that he wanted them harmed at all.

Values watched as his child's body was taken away, into the cave. He felt his heart sink and he struggled to the cave. His weak limbs crumbled under him as the stallioin forced them to work. After a good amount of dragging and falling, the ebon brute reached the caves and his family.
His coat was dusty and spotted with small dabbles of blood, but nothing to fret over. He lay down beside Gertrude, reaching up to brush his kisser's on Teheki's side.
Values wasn't sure what he ought to do, so he looked at Gertrude, nudging her timidly, then glanced up to Teheki. "Is she...?"

TEHEKI come and see
Teheki busied herself fretting over her daughter, nuzzling her face gently as soon as she placed her out of the elements and inside the dim cave. She squinted to see. The shallow breathes of the filly made her heart beat too fast and her head spin. It made her feel certain she would fall down. Her knees shook. The sound of scraping alerted her to Values’ torturous crawl towards the cave. His face painted a grave picture in her mind, but while threw a look of pity his way the mare kept her place, letting her lids fall shut and listening the sounds of shifting rocks and the pounding of living drums within each nearby chest. Her own heart was erratic.
The feel of velvet on her stomach made Teheki shift in a manner that pushed her mate away. She took a step around Gertrude, feeling her way across the ground. It was still covered with soil and old foliage at the entrance; each footstep was just a small echo. “Is she-”
“-Alive,” she replied quickly, and opening her eyes she turned them onto Values. His position looked most awkward to her, most uncomfortable and he was covered with a number of scrapes. Idling over, Teheki pressed her body to his. Her voice became steadier with her breathing and she swayed her head side to side, the fringe of her mane flipping across her face. “She’s okay. It just startled her I think, knocked her over.” Gertrude stirred; her leg twitching suddenly.
“Oh!” she cried, moving to tend the delicate creature once more, however she was soon deterred, and with a hurried nod to Values blotted from the cavern. The sun glared above. With a short whiny Teheki greeted Monsieur’s return, a single brow cocked. “All fine, and safe Gertrude has been shaken, so shaken. What has happened with the beast?” She studied him meticulously, waiting for his reaction to give away the fate of the animal. He was relatively free from injury on the surface.

OOC; The Non-Player Character is played by staff, for the record. XD And yeah, its fine, I ambiguously stated she died somewhere... hopefully. ^^

Monsieur looked over the family. It broke his heart to see how crippled the three of them came to be, though they still stuck together. They were'nt all crippled. The fae said that the filly was shaken up and she herself looked fine. What has happened with the beast? I dropped ze body on ze uzzer side of ze mountain. We should be bothered by it no more. he spoke so that they would understand. He didn't mention it was dead because if the little filly could hear at the moment, the last thing that she needed to know about was death. Death of the cat might give her ideas and life is the one thing that should be on her mind. The stallion's as well. Sure, Monsieur would like a mare to love as much as the next stallion, but he wouldn't be able to take over Values' position. Tehiki needed her stallion. Monsieur would never be able to fill that need. Deciding to leave the family alone together, Monsieur spoke. I vill be over by ze entrance if 'ou need moi. he said. He dipped his head, wishing the best for the small family and walked to the entrance to guard it from any of the cat's friends. He doubted that there were any. Cats don't really travel in packs. Only the prides in Africa. He doubted they would come into his mountain valley anyway after they see what has become of their now bloody friend.
