M A G E N T A
"Try to figure me out, you never can. Theres so may things I am." The taller Andalusian mare trotted gainst the foliage trying not to be seen much. She obviously knew this was a dangerous place and it was a tiny fault on her own part, she just wanted to belong somewhere. Knowing Magenta though, she's very picky about the stallions she meets. Though shy, quiet and submissive, Magenta doesn't give in easily to the tricks of men. But, here she was out here waiting to be 'claimed'.
It was a meak place full of trees and lots of grass. Magenta loafted herself upright looking about her surroundings snorting, "Not my kinda place if you ask me.", the mare said as she continued to trot to no where in peticular. She suddenly stopped once in a far opening surrounded by trees, Magenta liked to see where she was so this was a resting station for her. The Andalusian quietly lied down in the soft and lush grass swishing her tail from side to side studying the view: Mostly deserted it rather didn't seem like much of a home to anyone, probably why they called it the bloody claiming grounds.
Magenta waited flickering her eyes at any sudden motion of sound or noise but, nothing, just the breezes and animals scurrying about. She heaved a sigh and yawned nibbling on some grass grooming herself and watching the land. She was waiting for someone to come, some company to spend time with. She had already guessed that a stallion would show up but she would hold her ground, just in case.

Brimestone had wandered away from his big sister, her new herd, and the stallion. He was running and skipping in the meadow, happily nibbling on grass now and then. He then saw another mare. One he had never seen before. Thinking it was one of Brima's friends, another one, he trotted over to her on his long lanky legs, his white stocking half hidden in the grass. "Hello. I am Brimstone." He said happily.

Gertrude, Teheki, Her mother drove her like some kind of dog in a rage. It had been a moon since she’d left her home, but she felt more secure now that the stallion wandered there too. Regardless, Gertrude had to remind herself, what was she really defending? A couple of mares she hadn’t seen since their strange meeting all those nights ago? How long would the stallion stay? In Teheki’s mind it didn’t really matter. Gertrude new her mother didn’t support the idea of Nikolai, not of a stallion of such size, around her daughter. Gertrude knew why, although it was not something they often discussed.
She had heard of this field from Teheki, who was now galloping her with Gertrude. The two mares, one pale as a autumn grass and the other dark as night, ran side by side, scouting, sniffing, occasionally calling. The other mare limped when she ran now. Gertrude had not asked how it happened, but her mother had an ugly gash on her shoulder. Something another horse would have made. It made her more irritable than normal. She nipped at her daughter whenever the young mare slowed.
When the pair reached the meadow, just on the edges of their territory, both were silent. The tall grass smelled sweet, speckled with fallen leaves and the earthy reminder of decay. Gertrude nodded to a copse of trees.
“A mare. You were right then,” she said.
Teheki narrowed her eyes. “Of course I was. Come on.”
It was then, just as they were approaching the stand of trees, that both mares cried out with surprise. Gertrude jumped in the air. They looked at each other. A colt! Teheki gestured forward. Slow, tails down, the two mares approached with small nickers of hello.

Brimstone turned and smiled happily at the two mares. "Hello. I am Brimstone." He thought these two were more of Brima's friends and herd. He didn't sense danger from a mare, his mother and the mares in his old herd and been friendly with him, giving him help whenever he needed it. Of course, there were barely 6 mares in the old group, and two stallions. Norie's Father had been driven out by Jennize's just before Brimstone had left. Norie's father didn't approve of Norie being driven away. He wasn't the leader, though, so he had no say in that.

Magenta raised her head slightly lfickering her ears up at the stalky and small figure forming itself before her eyes. Appearently it was a coalt, maybe run off somewhere to get away like herself. He seemed nice enough but..Magenta looked around curiosly for any sign of the mother but there was none. Huh, that's strange that a kid is out here alone, she said to herself. Returning her gaze back to the foal, she smiled sweetly shaking out her mane to swat at un-suspecting flies.
"Hello young chappy. Um, who might you be?", she tried hard not to be alarming to the live fella, he really seemed nice, for a foal. Magenta had noticed that she had fallen asleep out here and that was surely bad well with being alone here and all that stuff, but this fella seemed to be happy as a bee with honey. She made another smile observing him.
A while had passed and Magenta seemed to be anxious about something but what she didn't know until now. There seemed to be another two horses coming down nickering to the foal, they haden't seen her yet though. Magenta always tried not to be noticed but hwat could she do, not interupt them oh no, she waited patiently flickering the only thing that was visible above the tall grass, her ears.

Brimstone nickered and pranced in one place happily. He was happy about meeting three news mares, and Brima's friends at that! He had always been pleased to see Brima's friends and was even more happy now that he had found them himself.

Gertrude, Teheki, Gertrude startled at the boldness of the colt. How happy he was! Quickly, she decided he wasn’t from here. Perhaps the mare, though she couldn’t yet see her, was his mother. Gertrude lowered his head and nudged him softly in greeting, although his dancing made her bob her nose. “Hello, Brimstone. This is my mother Teheki,”she nodded to that grey mare beside her. Teheki whinnied softly, but said no more. “And I’m Gertrude.”
She smiled and her tail swished behind her. The picture of a happy mare, but for the ears that swivelled anxiously on her head. Where was that other horse? What if it were the mother? Would she not be upset? Even with family at her side, Gertrude balked at the idea of a battle.
“I see you ears,” Teheki called. “We’ll leave you both alone if that’s what you want. This is not a place for wandering alone though.”

A faint voice called Brimstone's name. "Over here, Brima!" He called back. A normal sized sturdy quarter horse charged over. She started to slow and was at a walk by the time she was by Brimstone. "What did he do?" She asked the mares. "Nothing! I swear I didn't do a thing, Brima." He stopped prancing and looked up at Brima. "Maybe I should take you home...." Brima thought out loud. "No!" Brimstone reared up trying to look brave. Truth was, he was scared. he'd really ticked off the year old colts and they weren't gonna let him come back without a scratch. No, they'd beat him up. Maybe even tell the leader not to let him back. He remembered the last time the colts had tried to persuade Jennize's Father into kicking Brimstone, his older sister, and his mother out of the herd.

Magenta picked her head up and shook her mane flipping one ear back against her slender head. "No..It's ok. I was just relaxing here when this foal appeared out of nowhere. I was just wondering who he belonged to. Do you know? Perhaps.", Now normally this also wasn't in Magenta's nature to talk that much, she seemed to be releaved not to be alone but she often enjoyed the silence of the day. The andalusian slightly bobbed her head in greeting to the two new faces and smiled brightly.
She looked at the Mare appearently called Teheki, not meaning to cut through their conversation but Magenta noticed that she herself had not introduced herself yet either. "Oh! Escuse my Insolence, I'm Magenta.", the mare let out a small nervous laugh swaying her tail a little more quietly now. She wasn't sure how oter mares reacted around here but she really didn't want to find out.
Magenta deeply sighed and stood up stretching herself out then taking one good last look at her studied surroundings. It didn't seem anymore empty now that these three had poofed into the vacinity of the peaceful life. Magenta really needed to go out more, have some fun. She was happy but, the alone type of happy. it wasn't her place to stay if she wasn't welcomed, Magenta cursed herself for waiting out here all alone. The Andalusian had been waiting for a stallion to come just to see if he would ask about joining a herd but all she had was a foal and two mares looking at her.
A few moment's passed by and a four horse appeared out of nowhere, where were they coming from? It was surely odd of them to pass in unexpetedly. Magenta let out a whispered snort and looked at this new horser, also a mare appearently. She was smaller than Magenta herself yet a strong willed horse indeed. Magenta lowered her head to graze tired ofall these horses popping in from WonderLand, she wondered if there might be a herd near by somewhere.

Brimstone let his smile drop. "Nice meeting you." He said politely. "Hurry up, Brimstone." Brima called, already thirty feet away. "Wait, aren'y you guys part of Jennize's herd? Or.... Herem or whatever?" he frowned. "I thought you were talking to Thanatos with Jennize, Norie, Brima, and Timbra?"

Gertrude, Teheki, Teheki and Gertrude relaxed, visibly, when the mare greeted them. Not enough to lay down themselves, but enough that Gertrude didn’t jump so much. She had a bright smile that Gertrude returned, and a nervous laugh that she could sympathize with. Magenta wouldn’t be the only one to do that around Teheki, but the older mare took it well.
“It’s fine, Magenta,” Teheki said, and she bobbed her head in a kind of consent. Then, she nodded behind her, back towards the Fields and their home and then at the meadow. Her voice become cold like a grave. Her eyes serious. “This is a dangerous place now. There are wolves, and other things. Worse things. You should come-”
She was cut off abruptly when the body of another mare came between her and the colt, Brimstone. Teheki leapt back, her hooves flying. Her daughter retreated behind her. Their ears moved back and forth like angry wasps. The colt seemed too startled. Afraid, Gertrude thought.
Gertrude answered the second stranger. Instead of fear, she found that she felt relieved. “You’re his mother? He’s telling you the truth. He just came to say hello. We thought he was lost.” She shuffled her feet but backed away a few steps, smelling the air. Was there a stallion around? A herd? Teheki had said there was rumours of a herd living in the Forest once more. Gertrude was heartened by the news, how long had they been alone, with just the predators and the storms! Her mother, however, didn’t seem to like it.
Brimstone, however, confirmed Gertrude’s suspicions. She called after the older mare. “Wait! There’s a herd here?” the dark mare asked, her eyes wider.

Brima noticed Brimstone wasn't beside her and walked back. She heard the mare's questions. "I am his older sister. There's no real heard here. Not really. It's just me and my friends escaping our old herd. Brimstone followed us. You are welcome to join us. Jennize is thinking of joining a stallion named Thanatos's herd." Brima grumbled the last part, still not happy about it. Brimstone grinned at the mare who had spoken in his favor.

The dappled grey mare looked up from her grazing and turned her head to blink at the other mare that was angry with BrimStone. So, there really is a herd around here, isn't there?, she thought. The stern voice of Teheki made Magenta jump back to reality snapping her head back to the other two mares, she flattened her ears against her neck where they could reach and talked in a serious voice hushed by her eyes, "I know that there's a lot of bad things lurking 'round her and about but, I've always been used to those. The don't seem to bother me a lot and we keep away from each other. Truthfully, I only came here to join a herd if there was one.", she inhaled deeply, that part about joining a herd was nt supposed to present itself.
She sighed again and opened her amber eyes revealing the four horses once more. Magenta didn't want to say that last bit until knowing them more, she has a tendency to drop things out right away. It's mostly when she is fustrated or tired, it was probably exhaustion getting to her now, eating away at her former self. She quietly lied back down blinking her visionary pools dazedly trying to stay awake enough. But it wasn't working enough. She drifted in and out of sleep to awake looking around her more alertingly than the last time. It would soon cease.
Magenta yawned and laofted herself up wobbling sleepily. She sat down like a dog and looked at the mares, she wondered mostly if they were going to say she couldn't join this herd that is hidden away somewhere and leave her alone to fend off the dark one more night.

"Join us." Brimstone said. "It isn't going to be our herd anymore, but you can always come with us to join Thanatos." Brima suggested, comfortable with the mare around. She wasn't very comfortable with the old white mare, though. No, not at all. Brimstone nodded furiously with every word Brima said.

Gertrude, Teheki, “Thanatos,” Gertrude mused, as if tasting the name on her tongue. She looked at the mare. Brima might have been her name, but Gertrude wasn’t sure. She nudged her mother, who nodded. “I am glad he has a home,” she added, nodding at the colt.
Meanwhile, her mother had been conversing with Magenta, a mare that seemed unnervingly tired. Gertrude watched as she plopped onto the ground. Now was the time when lines would be drawn and side chosen. Teheki’s muscles tensed beside her. Gertrude could see the lines of her neck stark against her pale fur. She remembered the night. How lucky she had been to find her mother. She remembered losing everything.
But the colt seemed to genuinely happy, so vibrant, now that he no longer feared retribution from his sister for running off. She smiled and then steeled her heart. “ We can’t come. We have family that we cannot leave.” Beside her, Gertrude practically felt her mother relax. She nodded at Magenta, still sitting on the ground. “You could come with us,” she said, and her voice had a hopeful lilt.
